From the xbox one x (no spoilers, just using the tool):
Spoiler

I was riding full speed and noticed a trail behind me (mentioned before). You can kind of see it in the second picture, but it was WAY worse than it appears. I could literally see 3-4 copies of me in the trail. Regardless of that, the amount of blur in these screenshots is ridiculous. I guess that's to make it run more smoothly?
Edit: I guess I never really noticed it because I didn't use cinematic mode too often. When I did, I wasn't paying attention to the tv.

What the heck am I missing?
For that challenge, I just walked around saint Dennis and robbed 5 people... I didn't think stores would count.

I just noticed this in in cinematic view. There are certain instances (mostly when it pans to a side view) that there is a "ghostly trail" behind me and my horse. There's definitely something going on there.

Looking at the dead eye levels the only other upgrades i have to get are level 3, from chapter 4, lets you stay in dead eye after shooting. level 4 and 5 just show vitals, chapter 5 and 6. I've only played part way through chapter 3, and have dead eye maxed at 8, so WTF?
I gotta be missing something simple/stupid where i can't mark the hat.
I was at a loss until you said that. The next unlock that you mentioned allows you to remain in dead eye after shooting, so you're able to shoot each target without marking it.

same. springfield rifle with no scope works like a charm.
Who needs a scope with such great Auto aim? Lol
I only used the bow on cougars for that challenge.

I find poison arrows work best at getting a perfect cougar pelt. But you guys have nailed down most of the best places to find them.
I always have trouble with timing the bow in dead eye. Rifle is basically a guaranteed headshot though.

Give it to him for his birthday with a game. Not sure when that is but your bro can't get mad then, and if he does he'll look like a di*k. LOL
That's in October...
I talked it over with my buddy and came up with THE BEST plan.
I'll make it a day after Christmas present! That way he gets to "win" Christmas, my nephew still gets the upgrade, and I piss off my brother more than I ever could've dreamed!

I'm just making my way through items on the completion checklist and knocking out challenges (really starting to hate cardinals).
I'm not looking forward to those gambler challenges... I think the exotics are also going to be a pain in the ass.

Or, you could take your time and stay on Chapter 3.
Just don't make the mistake of stocking up on everything like I did. Focus on the extra stuff (challenges, stranger missions, special items, etc) but don't worry about money or anything.
I wanted to get through the missions before I started forgetting what was going on. Once I got back to them, I couldn't stop lol
I'll do another play through soon enough, I only have a few more things to wrap up. I'm at 92.3% total completion.

@Volt I strongly advise ignoring the extra stuff right now and getting through chapter 6. That last mission was ****ing awesome!

But it really chaps my hide that I bought ALL the ammunition upgrades for my camp and STILL can't get dynamite there! You have to go to a stupid FENCE for the stuff!
I hear you there. I was under the impression there would be more to upgrade later in the story, so I dumped $2000 into the camp...

I'm not the one to ask. I just started Chapter 4 yesterday and realized I'm STILL using the Cattleman Revolver. 😒
I had a long response to this, but accidentally reloaded the page and it disappeared...
You should be able to access the gunslinger missions. I'd start there if you want pistols/revolvers.
I'm pretty sure you can just buy the Lancaster in chapter 4. That's my go-to because it's more general purpose. Great range (especially with a scope) and speed.
If you're looking for total completion, there are a few guns that can be missed easily. I missed one in chapter 3, so I might have to restart...

the line breaks and I lose that lure. what the hell is this sh*t?
Like @Vaderspupil said, you can't just keep reeling it in. Use the left stick to pull it where you want and wait for it to stop resisting. Then reel it in quickly, pulling back on the left stick as you go (that pulls the fish closer to you and makes it easier to reel in). If your controller is vibrating, you should wait.
Smaller fish don't seem to break the line either way though.

Has anyone come across a unique way to get the best guns?
Are there multiple ways to obtain guns? I thought it was either through the store or through missions (other than a few).
Which guns are "the best"? I never really compared. I only really use the Springfield rifle, the Lancaster repeater, or the varmint rifle.

when i get to the salloon in Valentine the 5 finger filet table wont populate an opponent its solo filet only.
This one gave me trouble as well. I think I finally found someone there in the middle of the day. Seemed to only be for a small amount of time though because I went back there several times before finding anyone. I'd suggest just camping out until morning and waiting around until somebody goes there.
Edit: My issue was in Strawberry, but it was the same problem.

The only person I care to go big for is my nephew. I was planning on giving him my Xbox one since I just upgraded to the x. Apparently my (stubborn as ****) brother got him some games for his 360, so he told me not to give him the one...
Now I'm kind of ****ed since everyone else already got him everything...

Check your settings. Worked fine for me in story mode last night.

I played this morning with no issues, but I'm not sure that the update was out yet.
I'm a little worried now though...

but when I do, I'm going to find it difficult to not indiscriminately ambush folks "just because". It's already happening when I play solo: if another rider on the road has a hat I like, I shoot him in the face and take it.
Sounds like you'll fit in just fine!
