Some of us are only part way through Chapter IV...

It's the random luck of having them spawn for you. You have to be familiar with the spawn locations and hop around the map to them hoping that 4 of them will spawn within one in game day. Clearing them out is the easy part when they do spawn.
Or, you can totally cheat with this: https://rdr2map.com/
The beauty is, you can sort by category to change the overlay. It's been a lifesaver. Granted, you still have to deal with the randomness of them actually spawning, but at least you can plot a course to give yourself as much of a chance as possible by hitting up as many as efficiently possible in an "in game day"

The game will have a very small active player population if they wait a year to fix things.

An entirely reasonable expectation, too, I might add.

They need to get their crap together with this already. I have had issues with this myself. I think now that the trolls are more aware of it, they are just on the hunt for people to screw over.
Because it's the only chance the'll ever have to screw?

A 30 second debuff or damage protection when instancing in or exiting a cutscene should work, and give you plenty of time to reorient, regardless of connection speed.

Firearms are simply more practical for self defense, work, hunting, war, doing bad guy stuff, law enforcement, etc.
The amount of draw on a crossbow needed to have a bolt puncture a target at anything more than a few meters or feet is going to require both a considerable amount of time and strength to properly secure. For the size of the device, it's wildly non-pragmatic for most small scale engagements, particularly when compared to the speed and efficiency of regular firearms.
Riles and pistols have a longer effective range, larger loads (i.e. stopping power), are capable of firing more shots without being reloaded, and reload quicker than a crossbow.
The only reason for a crossbow would be for an assassination mission where stealth was necessary, and a bow is more maneuverable and versatile (with a longer effective range) in those instances anyway. Realistically, the most practical application of a crossbow is for castle or fortification defense from a stationary position against a mobile opposing force. A crossbow affords the user more cover in tighter spaces (like atop the wall of a castle) than a bow or longbow, making it better suited when being besieged from a fortified position.
Edit: I knew that course I took in college about medieval castles would pay off one day.

I've been trying to get the awards for clearing 4 gang hideouts in a single game day. I think the most I've been able to do is 3
That is thoroughly depressing. I imagine once I level up and get my hands on some dynamite arrows, this will be much easier to do.

That guy was the only good thing about that movie.
Something most modern movies/stories--coughLookingatyouDisneyStarWarscough--fail to understand is that a good hero is only as compelling as the villain/threat they face. I love The Warriors, but absent that amazing performance from David Patrick Kelly (one of cinemas great character actors for villains--see Commando), it's largely forgettable.
My kids hate that clip. When they get in trouble, I used a modified version of that to get their attention.
They also loathe it when they threaten me and I use the stock: "The United States of America does not negotiate with terrorists" line. I don't even get past "States" and they get super pissed.
The new one I've rolled out when they're being difficult is from when Peter McNeely was doing a press conference before his fight against Mike Tyson. I'll find a way to work in, "you have a big dump in your pants" to wit:
Maybe I'll start using that on griefers. Complete with the accent and everything.

I'm in the exact opposite camp.
In fact, I get frustrated when they don't spawn--a target-rich environment to rack up XP and loot? I'll take that over driving a stagecoach and getting attacked by randos any day of the week.

I am a firm believer that everyone should get to play how they want without being hassled. At the same time there are so many communities in these consoles that are full of players asking to join or offering assistance. I get wanting to run as lone wolf but as y'all have noticed you will just be a bullet sponge or live in hideing. Get with people ! The end game here should be friendship. Don't be shy and go experience the feeling of riding the trails 7 deep. Safety in numbers my friends. Posse up.

Just finished playing a couple hours of coop in TD2. I like what they've done. More of the same which isn't necessarily a bad thing but also improved. Also like the damage model much better with the lower TTK, slow heals, etc. I think it was a good decision on their part.
I just got in for about an hour last night and really dug what I saw/experienced. It's more cover-based, and less run-and-gun, which is going to have major implications for tactical play, which is perfect for "people of a certain age" who may not have the best reflexes, like me.
Mildly irked by not being able to customize the Agent (only being able to randomize the appearance), but the mechanics and gameplay seemed very polished, all things considered. So far, not regretting my Collector's Edition purchase on the full game. We'll see how it goes at launch, but for now, I'm looking forward to getting back into it tonight once everyone else in the house goes to bed (this thing is BEGGING to go up on the projector instead of the TV).
3 hours ago, Chris Arbaugh said:Although I have to say Anthem will be my next purchase.
In a vacuum, were I making a snap-decision to buy TD2 or Anthem, I'd probably go with Anthem. It comes out first, and, as I've said previously, it literally looks like a blend of Halo and RDR2, which is right in my wheelhouse. I love Sci-Fi in games, but am bored to tears with traditional FPS games. TD's quasi-futuristic setting helps satisfy the itch to a degree, but I have a feeling Anthem would turn me into a gaming degenerate again.
That said, the story from The Division is probably one of the most well-strucutred and engrossing as any I've seen in a game in at least a decade. The world-building, attention to detail, and pacing sucked me right in, and based on some of the spoilers from the Beta, I'm not going to be disappointed in how they have chosen to continue the story. I'm all-in on TD2, and have no regrets. It'll be hard enough to juggle the limited playing time I have between RDO and TD2, but it's a luxury to even have that "problem", so I'm not going to complain.
35 minutes ago, Kean_1 said:TD2 will simply be a game I play with certain friends and RDO with others.
Definitely. The pacing between the two is completely different, and both offer unique experiences. When I want a more relaxed pace, it's going to be RDO. When I want to be dripping with sweat, hands trembling, it's going to be TD2.

You'd be amazed what you can tolerate in a "dry heat". It sounds like a cliche, but it's true.
Visited baby bro in Vegas last August when it was 110+ every day, and I an honestly say, it's not bad at all. I rather enjoyed it, actually.

I don't know how anyone could have enjoyed that game unless they bet on it and won a bunch of cash.
I enjoyed it because I appreciate what the Patriots did during that touchdown drive.
They torched their game plan, went big, with extra TE's and an RB, and forced the Rams defense into insane matchups that they got torched on in five or six plays. It was a masterpiece.
Defensively, you could see how the coverages were designed to confuse Goff--he repeatedly threw to covered receivers when there were guys WIDE OPEN in the flat or down field. The Pats stacked the line with SIX down linemen--basically daring the Rams to throw the ball and shutting Todd Gurley out of the game for all intents and purposes. They stole the gameplan Kansas City employed in the second half of the AFCCG to neutralize NE's own running game and they amped it up further.
NE spent most of the season playing man to man coverage defensively. The Rams planned for this, and when NE came out in a zone goal line defense, the Rams were completely unprepared.

Starbucks is overrated.
I mean, if i wanted something that tasted like dirt, I'd go suck on a beet.
For those of us who drink actual coffee the way it's intended (black), Starbucks tastes like the ashtray from a 1974 Firebird. Throw enough fat and sugar into anything and people will pay $5-$8 for it.

and they wouldn't have fit nearly as well.
That's the other thing--I can build things to maximize space and utility. Built some lockers and benches to turn the bottom of the stairs into our finished basement into a mud room. For $100 in materials, I got something that would have cost me 5-6 times as much to pay someone else to do. I did it in a few hours on a Saturday afternoon with a drill, tape measure, miter saw, cabinet screws, and wood putty.

Pre-ordered D2 a couple days ago and downloading the beta for D2 now. Probably be on tonight as well and some of the weekend.
It was available at 4AM here today, and I just didn't have the energy to get up that early--plus, the CPAP puts me out cold to the point that you could probably have a gunfight in my bedroom and I would sleep through it.
But I did flirt with the idea of calling off work...

I am not a fan of the logjam in February and March. I preordered The Division 2 a LOOOOOOONG time ago, and will be playing the beta after work today (and through the weekend).
Then I saw the gameplay for Anthem, which basically looks like Red Dead and Halo had a baby that was destined to bleed my wallet dry.
And it comes out in two weeks.
I barely have time to play Red Dead, and now I have to juggle two more games? The struggle is real.

i think that would be kinda boring. 3 or 4 jedi's with light sabers would take out a few hundred thousand zombies without breaking a sweat, and then they'd use the force to decimate the rest overwhelming horde. By this time it'd be brunch, so they stop for some coffee, maybe invite a few of the Empire over for tea and biscuits, after which the Empire would turn on the jedi's, who'd escape through some tunnels or something just as another horde of zombies appears and eats the Empire dudes.
Give the license to Koei and let them do Dynasty Warriors with the SW license. You could do zombies as an add-on or DLC.
Edit: close 2nd would be Arrowhead. Use the engine from Helldivers and make a SW game out if it.

I thought I would give this a bump with a bit of a serious question...
Mainstream News Media or Independent Reporters?
I am asking because I see a lot of people really tearing into companies lately. Yahoo, Vox, Buzzfeed, and several others fired a lot of their writers.
Independent reporters. This allows me to focus on what I want to read about, as opposed to what corporate news interests decide they want me to think is important.
I especially enjoy reporters who engage with the audience in a professional matter. There are too many editorialists pretending to be journalists these days just because they had a blog at some point.
Never trust a "reporter" with one anonymous source, (coughROcoughROLLINGSTONEcough).
I also dislike me reporters who do a lot of TV engagements on talk shows.
And I loathe 'crusaders". I want news, not causes. Give me analysis and breakdowns instead of theories and opinions.
My this or that?
Perrier or San Pellegrino? I know which one I prefer, but I'm curious about what others care for.

Doing missions with greedy players

I had the same thing happen recently. I, too, had to go back and slow walk the NPC back to the base.
Still a fun mission, though.
