couldn't see anything using eagle eye either

That's not surprising.  Eagle Eye is far from perfect.  If anything, it needs a way to be leveled to provide additional sensitivity and range, because as it stands now, it's only true use is when you're literally RIGHT ON TOP of an animal trail, or in a building looking for stuff to loot.

Learn to play and use the system to your advantage noob.

"Learn to Play"?  Was "Git Gud" too trite?  No two players have identical synaptic potential or eye-hand coordination.  I'm middle-aged, and would get absolutely annihilated in an FPS when going up against a 15-year old kid doped out on ADHD medication.  Strategy and planning can only do so much.

And "noob"?  What is this, 2002?

Edit, I'd be willing to bet that more than half of the people who use "noob" can't even tell you the etymology without using the ol' Googlemachine to get an answer.

    Because they're "noobs"

Tried giving a elk pelt to Pearson  didn't work!!

It's different between Pearson and the Trapper.  Different inventories.

If you donate to Pearson in camp, it stays in his inventory until you try to craft with it.  Bearing in mind that only Perfect Pelts are usable for crafting (i.e. 3-star), any other pelt is simply donated for credit or sold for cash.

The Trapper keeps a separate, independent inventory from Pearson.  If you want to prioritize satchels, donate perfect pelts to Pearson.

If you are prioritizing clothing upgrades/options, you should focus on donating to the Trapper.

What we really need is a spreadsheet that shows which perfect pelts can go to whom for crafting, because there's SOME overlap, but many of the items needed to craft are different.

  4. My trusty Dutch Drafthorse hath been dubbed, "Arnold" (as in Schwarzenegger) because he's a big plodding beast who can run over a mule deer and kill it while laughing.

And my Arabian, I christened "Ghost".

I've been eyeing up another horse and have a few tentative names picked out, like Chest Rockwell.

.....talk about a movie that doesn't hold up to time.  It was cheesy back then but so bad now.  Funny how I remember exactly what you were talking about.  😄

Captain Bennett has to be one of the worst bad guys in movie history especially paired against Arnold.  .....as if we're supposed to believe this overweight, out of shape Australian was a match for Matrix.  I guess the chain mail was supposed to help sell it.  🤣

But he does have one of the most classic badguy lines ever:

No Arnold film is as much fun for me as this one.

My son loves the parts of it he's seen (yes, I'm a terrible parent).  The other day when I was dumping Murfee Clan boys off a bridge onto some railroad tracks, he walked into the room and said, "Dad, what happened to those guys?  Did you (imitating Arnold) 'let them go'?"

    Scofield revolver and run.

Straight next door to the sherriff's office and turn yourself in.  If you grab the revolver and the cash on the table, it'll easily pay off your bounty (which for me, is only about $10 if all I did was shoot the O'Driscoll gang members).  You profit considerably and have no wanted level afterwards.

I was literally fighting my way out of the region.  ....barely made it but luckily most of them were on foot.  Fun stuff.

They feel to me like the lackeys from the island at the end of Commando, and I feel like John Matrix mowing them down.

  8. May I ask why you don't simply forgo obtaining the items?

I'm still in Chapter 2, and have obtained both the volcanic pistol and varmint rifle for free because of in-game actions that were unintentional as part of the base version of the game.

It's going to happen to you later in the game if you complete certain tasks/events.  All this option does is merely accelerate the timeline.  If you're objecting to their inclusion on some sort of moralistic grounds, then there's nothing you can do about it apart from exercising some self-discipline and not purchasing them for "free".

Haven't really seen any outfit that I would find appealling.  Usually I pick a outfit then modify it so it looks cooler.

This is why I always help strangers in need.  A lot of them show up in a random town later in the game

    Spoiler

and tell you to put anything in the General Store on their tab, so I always pick out full suits.

It's been awesome because once you have the full thing, you can mix and match with pieces from other sets if need be.

I don't think the 2 people I met was part of any gang.  I road up onto their camp and they drew on me.  I shot back.   No one seemed to care.  The whole wanted/bounty thing just seems a little off.  Glitch or not.

This happened to me outside of the Van Horn trading post.  I came across a random Murfee Clan camp and killed them both, only to have strangers on horseback (STRANGERS not Gang members) start randomly shooting at me when they saw the bodies.

Now, I ALWAYS dump the bodies off road or on the fire to burn them.  When the Murfees jumped me on a bridge recently, you'd best believe I slew and threw (all of them off the bridge and directly onto the rail tracks below).  No muss, no fuss, no "Wanted" or "Investigating".

I just found "The Plantation Gambler's Hat" and I LOVE it:

*Pic not me, but I do rock the full "Blacked Out" look, and either top it with this hat or the blacked out Officer's Hat from the Lemoyne Gang.

I have been riding and have reached points where I hear voices and there be no one around.  I have also seen red dots of predators appear on my map and there be nothing there to shoot.

99 times out of 100, that ends up being a snake in the grass.  Every once in awhile, it's a black bear, at least in my experience.  But unless I'm in 1st person mode, it's almost impossible to track the snake down without using Eagle Eye AND getting lucky.

So last night I was heading to strawberry.....

From Beechers Hope, I came across what appeared to be an abandoned school, looked like it'd been burnt down, there are graves surrounding outside it, I got off my horse and started looking around for things to look and I heard a woman say 'when are you going to let me go' to which a man replied something along the lines of 'sshh woman be quiet be quiet'.

Now I looked at the mini map and surroundings to see if id possibly come across a new random encounter but couldn't see anything. I didn't hear anymore dialogue between the two and couldn't find any other clues. Has anybody else heard this too?? If you don't know the location I'm referring to to I'll post an image. I've been browsing the forums for a while, and haven't seen anyone mention this, so I thought I'd finally make an account and ask! Cheers!

Given the knack for the paranormal this game has sprinkled throughout, I wouldn't be surprised if this becomes a form of DLC in the future.  There's been a LOT of creepy/weird stuff that I've come across, like

    Spoiler

The church for midgets in the swamp north of St. Denis

and other users have reported weird stuff, like

    Spoiler

The ghost train, ufo's, and the taxidermist house with the chimera near the Van Horn Trading Post.

So it's not out of the realm of possibility that it's a yet-unfinished questline for later.

  13.

Surprisingly, I lucked into finishing this challenge by accident.

As you progress through the game, you'll encounter several other factions or gangs, including

    Spoiler

    The Lemoyne Riders

I was heading into Saint Denis the other day along the train tracks when I saw that this particular gang

    Spoiler

Had stopped a train and killed everyone on board so they could rob it.  Naturally, I eliminated the threat by shooting most of them in the face, and then hog-tying the last few to the train tracks.  At that point, I could safely loot the train, take control, and run over their bodies as I built up speed going either forwards or backwards picking off birds.

  14. At the expense of sounding trite, the game is probably going to have multiple online modes, including an open world free roam version; if I had to guess, it'd probably be akin to the current single player mode, but with the ability to purchase and upgrade housing, gang hideouts, and populated with other players as opposed to NPC's only.

Maybe they have cooperative and PvP versions separate.  Maybe they're co-mingled.  I do think the slower pace of the game overall (being locked into horseback, stagecoach, or train travel when not on foot) is going to severely limit the ability of players/groups to actively troll in the online component.

Or maybe I'm wrong, and they'll add in Doc Brown's flying time traveling steam engine as DLC.

I can't wait to try that later... I'm surprised I didn't think of that...

For everything ranging between coyotes to horses, you can also go full-on "Stabby Maghee" using your lasso.  That's how I endure perfect pelts on a lot of things which already have three stars: lasso them in walk it down, and then channel my inner Marcus Junius Brutus to their Caesar.
