It'd make a fantastic heist mission: steal a car for someone jealous of a rival.
Hell, that'd make a nice little global event in the online portion. Stealing cars and racing them for a limited time (maybe a week or 10 days), and you could unlock one as a mission reward.

The beauty of living in a fairly large city is that Gamestop will reopen at 23:30. Everyone who wants to pick up their copy at midnight has to get there before 23:50, pay in full, and line up in front of the store, so they can send in five at a time. You show them your receipt, they hand you your copy of the game, and you're out the door.
I've seen them hand out over 300 copies of a game this way and be done by 00:05. It's a good system, and the best part is, I live three blocks away from the store, so I can be playing by 00:30. I've already taken the next day off of work, so it'll be on like Donkey Kong!

My wife was never a gamer at all, and although she won't pick up a controller, she loves to sit and watch me play games like Silent Hill, Resident Evil and what not. She helps me figure out puzzles and gets really into it.
Back before Friday the 13th: The Game went off the rails, my wife would sit there for hours and watch me play, audibly groaning every time I picked Lachappa for my counselor.
But she loved it. Never played any game other than Rock Band (which more often than not reduced her to a pile of F-bombs), but she thought F13 was hilarious.

At the end of a long week at work, there's only one song that can get me back to where I need to be, the last song I want to hear when I'm on my deathbed:

This would be a great candidate for a global event that could be rotated on a temporary basis.

I'd like to see companions in the game, but I'm not sure it will be a good idea to put them online, based on people constantly killing me and my horse in RDR or someone constantly blowing me and my personal vehicle in GTA. I have no doubt that players that do this will refrain themselves from killing your companion.
True. I plan on being an incorrigible jackass when I play this online.

Like a car in GTA. Somebody blows it up, they pay for it. They'll pay the vet bill. Anyone know how much horse insurance is?
According to Buford Tannen, the cost of a Horse is $75:

After I've completed the story, i prefer completing a story first. Then i just play online afterwards.
You never know. There may be a way to progress through the story while playing online. It certainly works for other games/titles. Then again, R* has usually kept GTA in similar game play constructs ever since GTA III, so it stands to reason that the storyline mode for RDR2 will closely mimic the structure of RDR.

Customization is a big part of online play for me personally.
I look at a game like The Division, which had a handful of preset faces and hair styles to choose from, but a preposterous amount of cosmetic clothing options (95% of which were lore-appropriate), and think "that's the way to go on RDR2". Minimal customization for the face and features, focus on the clothing for diversity of character.
Sure, R* could have a more robust customization suite, but I think that a feature like that is a time sink when most people just want to get in the game and play. I've spent entire days customizing a character in other games (if not longer). Removing the illusion of choice is a better option, imho, but I certainly understand why others may disagree.

Oh man! I can't wait for those flying horses, and the laser beam gun online expansions to be released...
Then they'll have to release a Killer Queen pack.
I hear she's dynamite with a laser beam.
Edit: @Cokeyskunk, the only issue with editing a post is that I'm unable to quote new material when editing a post. Of course, I could just be a dullard who doesn't know how to do it properly... No, it's the software that is to blame!

That's because these sons are now 30-40 and are both playing games themselves and also buying them for their kids.
The difference being, I have to drink heavily to play Minecraft with my son. He's fun to play games with, but Minecraft is just... the WORST.

Great. Thanks, Bropollo. Now I'll be singing the theme song to One Day At A Time all morning, but subbing out "Day" for "Game."
Come to think of it, thinking all morning of the wacky antics of Pat Harrington Jr. as "Schneider" isn't quite so bad . . .

It could be worse. You could have the theme song from "Small Wonder" in your head:
"La, lalala, lalala, lalalala. La, lalala, lalala, lalalala!"

Meh, I'm passing on BFV, but that's more due to the fact that I'm a "one game at at time" kind of guy, two at the most.
These days, I'm still grinding out The Division and goofing around with Friday the 13th. Once RDR2 hits, Friday will drop out of the rotation completely and The Division will become the diversion until TD2 drops in March.
RDR2 basically has five months of my undivided gaming attention.

One of my all-time favorites. I only got the "I am not from Havana!" joke a couple of years ago. Leave it to Mel Brooks to tell a joke it takes you 40 years to get!
There's so many great parts in that film, but the one that always makes me crack up is when Taggart and the raiders are slowed down by the William J. Le Petomane Thuway. "Somebody's gotta go back and get a s---load of dimes!"
I die laughing every time.
That, and when Bart shows up at the labor camp again,:
Charlie: "They said you was hung."
Bart: "And they was right".
They'd never make that film nowadays. Hell, I'm surprised it hasn't been banned outright.

Thankfully, my "third leg" can rise to the occasion when called upon, even in my advanced age.
8 hours ago, shawn said:Not to mention, they may do a delay when you can go online like they did with GTA V.
If that's the plan for R*, then I'd imagine they'll launch the online component on or just before Black Friday, so that the "full game" is available on the biggest shopping day of the year in the US. From a strategy standpoint, this makes the most sense; early adopters and fans will have an opportunity to explore the game's open world and finish the main story for nearly a month before the online portion becomes active.
48 minutes ago, Jackthestripper said:besides, a higher level doesn't mean they're more skilled at the game.
Without a putative system for progression, leveling in an online game is definitely not indicative of player ability.

Though not a gunslinging Western, I recommend Mclintock. Grest John Wayne film. Also dug The Quiet Man.
The Blu Ray of The Quiet Man gets a lot of airings in Casa de Creed. So much so, that my kids know there's a problem when I tell them, "you just made the list!".
Pro tip: Blazing Saddles is available to stream as part of the Amazon Prime package right now.

I have been a fan of Xbox since Halo and its online services since Halo 2. PS has the better library, but for years my hands have adapted to the Xbox controller.
I miss the old-school gargantuan Xbox controllers that came out with the original console. My fingers are disturbingly long, and when Microsoft went to those smaller controllers, there was nothing holding me back. All my friends had PS4, and while I miss Halo and Gears of War, PS Vue makes up for it.
One of these days I'll pull the trigger on an XB1X, but I barely have time to play one console, let alone two.

Where do you live at? Cause in my area they got RedBox and you can rent a pshyical copy. Maybe they would be an idea if you really wanted to be one of the cool kids running around RDR2 hitting each other with a stone ax. Or you could just set back and snipe us. Your choice really.
I hadn't considered that. Looks like I'm stopping at aredbox on the way home.

let's hear an example of a limited time event.
Off the top of my head?
I like to keep things grounded in reality with games like this (my desire for Bone Tomahawk influenced dlc notwithstanding), so things like an event over the course of a week whereby there's a chance to rob a stagecoach with real life outlaw Pearl Hart, and complete a questline for a unique reward.
There could also be faction-based events: choosing the side of the law or outlaws in skirmishes in specific locations, or even seasonal events. There's a lot of options, but the rewards would have to be tailored to be in-line with whatever system is imolemented for the game. I'd be a bigger fan, personally, of cosmetic rewards over rewards that could tip the balance of power in the game. Making the rich richer isn't going to help player retention. Not everyone has multiple hours a day to devote to playing this game.
-
I'd love that tomahawk, but I can't justify $27.99 on GTA V (used) for an item in RDR2.

End of discussion.
It's funny, but I always view Bone Tomahawk as a spiritual successor to The 13th Warrior (the original book, Eaters of the Dead, Crichton based off of Beowulf). The villains are remarkably similar, and the two make for a fantastic double feature.
BT is one of those films where you sit down and have a completely different theory of where the story is going as opposed to how it ends up. I know @Cokeyskunk would rather have more supernatural elements to potential DLC, ala RDR's Undead expansion, but based on the growth of GTAV post launch through content updates, there's certainly room for multiple options once the release cycle ramps up for DLC on RDR2.
I do think they should keep some of the more outlandish ideas for later in the cycle: focus more on expanding the narrative and world building through the initial DLC offerings and sprinkle in hints of what is coming down the line, but keep it under wraps.
I also wouldn't mind seeing limited time events occur in-world. Several games do this, and it'd be cool to see R* explore this option.
