That or Evil Dead: Hail to the King.

ED just does not translate to a decent game.  I can be happy with where the Starz series left off, and am thankful that we got what we did with it.  Would I have liked more?  Sure, but at some point it stops being "good" and becomes rote.  I'm glad it didn't hang on for too long--something like Dexter comes to mind: great first few seasons, then utter crap.

Eh, if it isn't supernatural in nature, it'll just be "meh" to me. If they're going to do a "What If?" story, it needs to be really outside of the box, like Undead Nightmare was.

There's plenty of elements from Native American culture that can be used as a template, like the Baykok, which can be layered with Cannibalism.

Granted, Baykok is more Great Lakes than Southwest, but there's a lot of NA creatures of myth to draw from, including Bigfoot.

Had to resurrect this (pardon the pun) as I've been thinking quite a bit about it.

I REALLY hope R* does something similar to this with RDR2. It doesn't have to be zombies this time, but I would like something with a spooky supernatural theme.

I'm not too keen on aliens -- as that's more sci-fi than supernatural. ????

Maybe vampires? That might be a neat storyline.

Another creepy thing might be if a portal to Hell opened and demons started escaping.

. . . OR, what about a group of serial killers wearing expressionless masks (a la Michael Myers) that can be shot and fall to the ground, but they always rise again? (Maybe you have to blow them up with dynamite?)

. . . OR, I'd be fine with the dead rising again. I'm not really a believer in the idea that the entire concept is worn-out.

This is DLC *I* would buy. Especially if they launch it around Halloween of 2019.

    Two Words: Bone Tomahawk.

That's the expansion--missions against cannibalistic troglodytes.

    Edit: with a horde mode.

    I checked behind @BropolloCreed79's toilet

You didn't check in the tank.  That's a rookie mistake!

True Story: my department did a "team building" exercise at one of those "escape rooms" a few years ago.  A room full of attorneys tripping over each other to take charge while I enjoyed the show.  When they finally got frustrated and couldn't find the last part to proceed to the next room, I called them all a bunch of amateurs, sauntered over to the toilet and pulled the last piece from inside the tank (It was a key inside the flap on the valve).

When our cultured and refined General Counsel regained her composure, she asked me how I knew where to look.

And I told her, "that's where I hide my beer when we have company and I don't want to share".

The more and more i think about it, the more faith I have in Arthur making it out alive.

What he ends up doing "after" is going to be the twist in the epilogue.  If the series is intended to be a permanent fixture in Rockstar's catalog, I'd expect nothing less than an open-ended ending.

That was actually the first thing I thought of when I saw the main character wasn't Marston. I think you're right. And the story probably ends when John is shot and "left for dead" by Dutch, Bill Williamson, and Javier Escuela.

I see it panning out a bit differently. Arthur walks away from a life of crime on land and takes to sea as the Captain of his own pirate vessel (with a penchant for rum, no less).

Thanks, I don't know why i added the $ signs. I guess its just my instincts ????.

Now that I think about it, 100 million units might be far fetched...

    10 million launch day, 30 - 50 million within the 1st and 2nd year.

There's a difference though between what is actually sold to consumers and what the placement orders are.  Most sales reporting figures are round numbers because they reflect what the Purchase Order was from vendors to Rockstar.  This includes everything from big box retailers to mom-and-pop outfits.

In terms of what we should expect, I think it's important to remember that RDR is a genre game, which is going to restrict it's market to a degree to niche enthusiasts and R* fans.  I don't expect the number of units to match pace with GTA V at the end of the first year, but it's going to depend on what the holiday release competition is.  Having a launch date at the end of October is genius really, because you have the hardcore fans snapping up copies immediately, and within a month, you have another boon during Black Friday events as people look to pick up the "hottest" games for their significant others or kids as the Holidays approach.

The online modes are going to have a big say in how large the user base for this game ends up being.  Take away GTA V's online modes, and I believe you could easily slash the final sales figures in half.  As important as the story and single player modes are, a robust online component enhances replay value in a way that is impossible to ignore.  When folks are being asked to spend more than $60 on a game, there HAS to be the perception of value or else the base won't be sustainable.

When you look at a company like Ubisoft, who had a string of launch failures (The Division, For Honor) affect later titles (Ghost Recon Wildlands), strictly based off the state of the game at launch, R*'s launch of RDR2 needs to be fully formed and robust  for both single and multiplayer modes, or else they'll be suffering a setback in advance of the biggest shopping day of the year.

    I agree. Totally.

    . . . but how?  ????

Well, for me, the online mode is going to make or break this game in terms of replay value.  RDR was very, very good for what it was, but when you look at GTA V, and how much online play has progressed since then...

What would be fantastic is a customizable online character.  Join a gang, pull jobs/missions, have a camp or base of operations (like a saloon or old hotel) that can be upgraded by sharing and pooling resources...

yet to people who aren't, football is overrated.

    If anything, it's underrated.

In the US, it's still growing, but having live broadcasts of the Premiere League does a lot to grow the audience here, especially when it's during the "slow" season for one of the US' Big Three (Football, Basketball, or Baseball).  I'm a casual fan, but I can drop into any game when it's on and enjoy it.

Now, if you want to talk "overrated" sports, let's turn our collective eye to the blight that is NASCAR...

Edit: TV is not a good medium for NASCAR.  Live, motorsports are amazing in general, but the sense of speed and energy don't translate to tv very well for some reason.

The deaths look so real, how they fall, how their bodies fly in the direction of the bullet they've been hit with.

Did anyone see this where a guy was shot on horseback and the horse threw him off? Looked amazing:

Also this guy looked super realistic how he fell:

    Hyped!!!!

One of the things I've noticed about Rockstar overall: they tend to build upon their successes as a company when it comes to game design.  Every iteration of GTA has improved and tweaked little things (as well as some big things), and the polish on the physics engine has shown consistent improvement across their titles.

I got to the point of not watching it when every season was a roller coaster ride of hey look it's "Awesome" Rick Grimes the great leader.  Bad guy shows up and hey look it's "Pathetic" Rick Grimes, whose kissing the bad guy's rear.  Some point he becomes "Awesome", then "Pathetic" over and over and over.

The good news is, they're breaking the cycle.  Andrew Lincoln is leaving the show after this season.  I guess it'll be someone else's turn to be needlessly irritating.

Carl is like that one character in a story that just brings the worst out in everyone else... So the comparison to Jack here is appropriate.

I'd care about that show if it wasn't the same show for the past five seasons.  I'd go into specifics, but I wouldn't want to spoil anything for people who are into it still.  Every Sunday when it's new, my wife watches with more zeal and fervor than when Gray's is on (which is saying something), and I just can't bring myself to watch TWD anymore.  It's so predictable it makes pro wrestling seem unpredictable.

According to a friend that works at Gamestop, they are suppose to switch to digital.  Cause Microsoft wanted to stomp out businesses like Gamestop.  That has been some time  ago.

That was the original plan for the XB1, prior to it's release.  Microsoft strolled into E3 that year, and said, "Digital download for almost all games, no discs.  And the price point is going to be $499."

Then Sony completely took them out at the knees responded in their subsequent press conference by confirming optical media (discs) and a $399 price point.  Guess who "won" E3 that year?

If people want digital downloads, I understand the allure.  There's positives and negatives to both sides, just like drinking your beer out of a can or a bottle.  At the end of the day, beer is still beer, and the games are the same.

Me?  I like the fact that if I buy a game on a disc and it sucks (coughConanExilescough), I can take it back to Gamestop within 14 days and they'll credit me the full purchase price, no questions asked.  That money isn't wasted then, and I can put it towards a game like RDR2 (which is exactly what I ended up doing, btw).  If that had been a digital purchase at release, I'd have been out $50, and while I'm sure $50, $60, or $70 isn't a big deal to most people, that's multiple cases of beer or a bottle of scotch that I'm missing out on from a cost perspective.

No thanks.  Unless companies move away from the current model of "release an unfinished game and fix it over the course of a year or two"--I'm looking at YOU, Ubisoft--I'm going to be wary of any sort of digital purchase for a new game.

Now, if it's a game that's been out awhile and I've played it and I know I'll like it (ESO), that's a little different.  While I have all the faith in the world in Rockstar and the RDR franchise, I've been snakebit too many times with purchases to place blind faith in a particular title or property, right, @Truth & @Cokeyskunk?

Worst about Jack, you *had* to finish the game with him. No option to go back to playing as John (as he was suffering from a mild case of death).

I refuse to acknowledge "Jack" and refer to him as "Water Retention John".

It's bad enough to be level locked at 0 offline, but we should at least be able to use the dlc... We really need those local saves more than dedicated servers.

I'd be willing to bet that they never get around too it.  They'll release that cash grab in September, and then the game will sunset by December.

I don't think I've played Friday the 13th for close to two months now. I'm such a fair-weather fan .

Literally all I use it for is either to "warm up" when I'm just starting a gaming session late at night (the offline bots are good for "loosening up"), or as a quick stress release when it's the end of the night and I just need some mindless activity to decompress.
