I know there are lots of people complaining that the story is too long already but i found it a good length for the story! they did drag out some plots a little too long but it was overall amazing! i just wish they could've put in more say on some of the missions or more options in the game in general! i dislike the fact that they make you get so deep into the story with Arthur and then they just kill him off! i realize he isn't in Red Dead Redemption but it would have been cool if they could've taken a different approach and you could have just gotten around the sickness even though that's what makes Arthur see what life really has to offer and there's not so much of a point in being such a horrible man before he leaves the earth and either way they still could've made it so Arthur could live and not be in Red Dead Redemption like maybe he could've moved somewhere else and started a family away from everything and still kept in touch with John and his family or you could play as Arthur still! Also i kinda wish that they could've almost remastered Red Dead Redemption along with this so you could play it again with the same graphics and feel with the same story but it would be your choice to go through with basically playing Red Dead Redemption again because now playing as John it feel like the story is just left at a stand still even though you know how the story plays out it would be nice to be able to go through that story again without making myself suffer the graphics Could've even made it an add on with an extra edition for the people who would want it!

    Spoiler

Yeah, it's unfortunate Arthur had to go that way, but it makes sense. Arthur wasn't in the original Red Dead Redemption, so if he lived in this game, he would have gone back to John in the original game because he cared for John a lot.

Whelp, I know what I will be looking for later. Thanks for the information bro. I wanna check this out myself. I have a feeling I missed some things since I kept staying awake long after I was tired.

I will be looking for that glowing circle as well.

I would have totally bought this if it had been release during RDR2 development.  .....not so much now.

Yeah, the original game is done. I played that game so many times, it's crazy. It would have been cool to see a remaster of the game, but knowing how long Rockstar takes to release something, I would believe they couldn't push it out in time haha.

    What do you mean?

You will only be permanently broke if you continually rack up large bounties, and you'll only be doing that if you keep committing obvious crimes in towns and shooting the law when they come to arrest you.

Exactly. The town is a big no-no for guns. There are just too many witnesses, and you will be dead before you know it. However, if you're in a rural area, and you commit and murder, make sure you kill all the witnesses around you, or the law will be coming.

    Yes.

I'm happy for people to point out when/if/where I've got this wrong.

I don't want the game spoiled for myself, nor do I want to reveal stuff to others who don't want to know.

Yeah getting spoiled ruins everything. That's why you have to be very careful as to what you read online. Someone spoiled the ending of the dialogue for me, but I kind of figured the situation would happen anyways.

RIP offline social life... I hardly knew thee.

This is insane! The amount of things we will be able to do online... RDR2 is going to take over and I bet it has a lot of other online games worried. HAHAHA!!

I'm very excited about online, I hope it's a smooth launch and we get a release date soon. However, knowing the amounts of people going to play Red Dead Online, the launch will most likely be a little shaky at first.

This I wrote now in the commentary box of digital foundry. I hope we receive an answer. :)

Hey guys I´m a big fan of your channel. How I can talk privately with you about the problems of red dead redemption 2 on the ps4 pro. I mean the technical issues. Do you send a messsage to rockstar games? Is this the game that you have tested two month before. I think not. The blur destroys the game experience on the pro. I think it has nothing to do with the implemantation of checkerboard rendering. It is to much of motion blur in the game and to agressive taa. Sharpen slider is only in the 1080p mode. This is why the game looks so much better in 1080p.

I´ve really sensible eyes. I can play all other titles on the pro. No other majortitle release has that big graphical issues. We must start a petition. You guys can look at this thread. It is a major problem for all users on the ps4 pro. A lot of gamers bought a ps4 pro right now, with the bundle version of rdr2. What is sony thinking about this mistake? Is rockstar cashcowing us? I have Odyssey to, and it runs pretty well on the pro and looks ten times better on the pro.

Look at this forum guys, please. You can help this friendly community of rdr2 users on play station pro a lot. WE need some more advertising on this problem. We receive only answers from rockstar that the hdr is bugged but that is not the problem. Become solutions that does´nt have somethig to do with the issue. It is not a hardware issue. A lot of the users in this forum playing on 10 bit oled displays with premium hdr are cables and premium hardware. That is not our problem. All other titles running well and looking gorgeos.

Please help us and gave a statemement and give us some of your expert support. We need it.

Thanxs guys for all your technical analyzes on all titles. I like your channel so much.

Here is the link for the forum.

The more people involved with this issue, the better. Then Rockstar will be able to see this problem. Which I would be confused if they hadn't at this point.

Sure, if you want to be permanently broke. Seems like they had cell phones and the internet back then as I can't understand how quick they are onto you as soon as you commit a crime. God! Even the police in RL take 24hours minimum to arrive after a burgulary.

The way the criminal system works is when you murder someone, anybody in the area is considered a witness. Once that/those people become a witness, they will flee the crime scene. If you don't kill them in time before they flee the crime scene, the law will be called, and they will come to investigate and take action. However, if you kill the witnesses before they flee the scene, you won't get a bounty or the law to come and investigate.

So, that being said, if you are smart with how the law system works, you can pretty much get away with anything really. I usually rob and kill people when they are on empty lonely roads, and I make sure any witnesses are executed immediately. Once they are dead, I loot all the bodies and continue on.

Unfortunately I've tried that three or four times now, Rockstar suggested that while communicating with me a few days ago. It didn't work. Going to initialize my PS4 today and reinstall the DLC and see if that works.

    Sorry to hear that @Jackthestripper

Knowing that you deleted the files, and restarted and loaded the game after you deleted the files, maybe initializing your system will do the trick.

    Keep me posted!

Just keep your tonics in stock and blast your horse when it gets low.

Yeah I wait until the horse gets really low on stamina, and then I use a tonic full stamina, and that full bar will last for a bit, and I just keep spamming the run button for a while until the stamina actually activates, and then you have a full bar left to go on top of the times you sprinted while the stamina was loading up if that makes sense haha.

Perhaps, but I struggle to understand what kind of DLC could be introduced if we are to continue as John. John has already explored the whole of that area and Mexico in RDR1/Undead Nightmare. I guess when I heard that the whole of the RDR1 map was being included in the game I was kind of expecting the story to take Arthur there, maybe even have Arthur encounter some of the old RDR1 characters. At the moment it just feels like a third of the map was unused.

    Spoiler

True, it did feel like they could of used New Austin in the main story, but maybe it's there as a secret for something. I'm sure most people knew it was there, but if you didn't look at any spoilers or leaks, you probably wouldn't of guessed it was there.

    Thank you!

Oh boy, somebody sure like far fetched percantage terms.

And so much hate. We are talking about a game here, what's your problem? Grow up.

    Yes! Thank you!

Of course I like the game and I really loved RDR1, that's why it bothers me so much that some mechanics in 2 aren't as good as they were in 1 IMO. Sure I like the realism but in this game it's killing the fun for me in many times. It's just to much. IMO they clearly overdid it.

And there is the other problem with the blurriness on the pro... but I won't sell the game until I've finished it. It is a interesting experience with or without horse grunting and blurriness. But sure it does reduce the fun for me.

I know that and I use it sometimes for the trapper. But most of the times I don't want to use it because it takes the controll from me and it bored me out.

And no it is not a machine and also not a horse, it is a game. But stupid me right.

I will try to do it like you said, thank you! But one thing I'm not sure about, when the stamina is blinking red, this is bad right? It shows the fast draining right?

Like I said in the other comment I really loved RDR1 and like the second one too. It is just too much realism for me. I think it more simulation and work than a game. But I won't stop playing it. Even it doesn't make fun most of the time, the experience is something special.

In my opinion, the health and stamina indicators in the game help me stay focused and stay occupied because I usually like to multitask.

Same here. I remember the cutscene in the trailer where they are breaking Arthur out of a jail, which I'm certain I never encountered in my play through. Anyone know what mission that was from?

It definitely wasn't part of the main story, probably a side mission.

I notice this in Valentine, really irritating because the game is so good and it really isn’t doing it justice. I wonder if this has been flagged to R*......

I'm sure it is, but I think for Rockstar to fix this issue, they might have to reduce some of the actual items in the map or decrease the quality. The towns are filled with massive amounts of objects, textures, activity, and this is what causes the frame rate to drop because it's straining our systems because our consoles cannot simply handle it. Hopefully they can trim up the towns so they can reduce frame rate drop without taking away noticeable features in the game.

Sucks to know how many others who have paid the extra money for the bonus content and lead to no problem solving solutions. I’m also another victim short of the free guns, talons, outfits, and other stuff. Only received my war horse. Just looking for the fix.

    Completed chapter2

    did deleting game and reinstalling..

    checked the content settings..

    nothing.

    HELP WANTED

Instead of deleting the game, try deleting the DLC files located in your add-on section of the game. If your on PlayStation you can do this buy hovering over the game without clicking on it, and then hit the down arrow until you see add ons. Delete the DLC files and reinstall, it should take a few seconds, then restart/start the game.

Do this and get back to me, let me know if it worked.

OMG, there should be a massive spoiler tag for spoilers like this.  It sounded like it was going to be an early in the game spoiler, this is a massive bombshell of a spoiler.

Spoilers are spoilers, try not to read them. We do our best to fix the spoilers, but sometimes we cannot get to them in time before people start seeing them.

We make it clear to use spoiler tags on spoiled content before making a post: https://www.rdr2.org/forums/topic/1098-spoilers-please-read-this-before-playing-the-game/

Yeah thats what I said them. I tried it both on PS4 PRO and XBOX one X and both have lots and lots of fps drops. However XBOX wins, the game runs much better, in 4k and with highest res textures. However it still is not as smooth as it should be. I really hope they will patch it soon. For all the players of course but more importantly for the online release. At the moment I do not imagine how can anyone play such laggy/badly optimized game online.

Hopefully Rockstar will start shooting us with updates that fix all the problems we have been experiencing so they can gear up and launch online.

Towards the end I made sure I finished all the side missions before doing the story ones. I could kind of tell that the end was nearing for Arthur - his health was deteriorating fast and the various dialogue between him and john and the fact that the gang members were starting leave one by one indicated that the story was coming to an end.

Arthurs death saddened me, those final cutscenes from him losing his horse to dying alone at the top of a mountain were heart wrenching. I actually felt kind of comforted by the fact we got to take over as John and the part of the story when you work as the ranch hand, buy beechers hope and do it up were probably some of the most enjoyable parts of the game for me.

My biggest issue is that now i am 100% done with the story, there is literally nothing to do. I was hoping that the story would take us deeper into New Austin, maybe get a few more stranger missions thrown in for John, but no. I went travelling around the old map visiting old places but it is literally just an empty map. Armadillo is overcome by illness, you can't even get a drink in the bar. McFarlanes Ranch is empty. What was even the point in including the whole of the old map if theres nothing to do in it?

    Spoiler

Hopefully there will be DLC for the story, and we can go into New Austin.
