I know it's not a help to folk whose horses are completely gone but if the "temporary" icon is present somewhere on the map, you can get the horse back even if you have to go fetch it.

As long you'r horse icon is on the map you can get the horse back. 
That's my problem here. There is a horse-icon but that's my new one. :-)

Yesterday I used my second special-edition-pre-order-bonus horse (Ardennes).

I jumped with the horse off a cliff and both died.
I went back to the stables in Valentine en TAAADAAA... My Ardennes was there.
So the system with the permanent horses (the one you get from a special or ultimate edition) works but just not with the thoroughbred .
So it's clear for me --> Glitch...

And i hope Rockstar gives me my Thoroughbred back really soon because I PAID FOR IT. :-)

I hear ya.  However, its not like Rock* didn't mention way early on that if your horse dies in game, it is gone for good. I get the frustration , but I also get what ROCK* was trying to do here.  The only thing you can do is create multiple save files and save often, that way if you do end up losing your horse you can at least, go back to a earlier save and get it back.   

I have the special edition guide book and there they say that the horses you get from the special and ultimate edition always respawns at the stable in Valentine. But mine is not respawning atm

Also I have troubles with getting my thoroughbred (special edition horse) back after it died during an attack of some dudes.
I went back to Valentine Stables but there is no thoroughbred between the horses ???

I hope this is a glitch and they gonna fix it very quick because I really wanna have my thoroughbred back.
More people with this problem ?
