  1. My suggestion wouldn't have been to go through the game slow, having fun, then re doing missions via the replay option to get the golds.  You could always buy the guide to know the criteria beforehand if it means so much to you.  But you've sold it now, so bye, and good luck!  Find something fun to do.

  2. Actually I'm a bit scared of losing the stuff I've got too.

Could anyone confirm one way or other (in a spoiler block, with no story spoilers if poss) whether you unavoidably end up perma-losing anything during the game at any point?

    Spoiler

Given the heavy hints and obvious expectations in the story so far (I'm at end of chpt 4) I'm wondering if i should hold back on getting more unique items and stuff ... ???

  3. It's just occurred to me that I could be conflating two different weirdos:

    Spoiler

There's the bayou guy who knocks you out then rapes you, but there's an incestuous couple who drug you and rob you (maybe more?) and dump you in a grave hole.  Either way, they all end up being deaded - usually by melee weapons, which are more satisfying for revenge kills :)

  4. What I did:

    Spoiler

It was obvious that he was up to no good, but I just like watching the cut scenes, so I went with him.  And got Arthur raped.  I then went back, he muttered about not wanting me anymore, and he and my hatchet spent some quality time together.  Then I robbed all his stuff.

I've spent a lot of time tracking down many of the weirdos, strangers and Easter eggs in the game - it's full of them! :)

  5. If we're not careful this will turn into a political debate rather than an RDR2 thread.

But, since i can't resist nailing my own colours to the mast, however briefly,

I'll just say that I mostly disagree with PZA because I tend towards favouring something like an internet bill of rights because I feel that tech monopolies (like YTube and Twitter etc) are de facto public squares/utilities more than private companies at this point - and when you factor in de-personing by internet hosts, search engines, and tech payment options (Google, Paypal etc), as well as politically motivated physical/financial de-platforming/censorship by mob veto, then you have entered the realm of unacceptable large-scale censorship and the erosion of free speech.

    Obviously, as a free-speech fundamentalist liberal/libertarian I'm very biased! :)
