Dammit oh actually I had another question which is unrelated to this but cbf man NH another topic, so I'm in Australia and we're 15 hours ahead of the US so the midnight launch will let us get red dead before America but I'm wondering if that will cause any issues with streaming the game
Doesn't everyone get it at the same time? I can play it at 9pm on the 25th but that's still midnight on the 26th for the US...

probably a stupid question but if I pre-ordered a physical copy of rdr2 am I able to pre-load the game or is it only for digital pre orders?
Just digital.

I'm buoyed by the fact that virtually every time I open BF1 there's another 10GB update that needs to be installed. Thankfully I have a good connection so I'm not too worried about the patches.

I made sure to check the "auto download" box and I'll leave my system on standby tonight.
The luxury of owning a Playstation, huh

I fear the most is micro-transactions, because I don't want to experience a pay-to-win game.
My guess is it will be pay-to-customise

I don't ever remember it being a hefty DL after this kind of installation but I could be wrong. I am fine with it taking like 10 min. Gives me time to sort snacks, drinks, and get my spot ready for a 6+ hour session with no breaking.
If I can predownload it all snacks and drinks will be by my side and I will be sat like this from 11:30 onwards. As soon as it ticks to 00:00 I'm gone.

I am pretty sure you still have to DL something. Any other game I have done this with made me do a DL of patches and what not.
Patches I can handle but 90gb would SUCK.

I like women. I like women who play games. It is a HUGE bonus for me when I am dating a woman who enjoyed video games. The issue here isn't the women, it is the try hards who will hit on anything with a pair of tits and a controller.
For me, there's a balance in our relationship. She kinda likes video games but she knows the closest she'll get to playing RDR2 within the first week is to sit near me and not talk while I play it. I do the same with her games.

Spotted this as well. It is almost time. I wish you could actually install the full game now and play it straight away on release day.
That has to be the biggest downer of modern gaming. Even if you have the disc, there is a waiting period now.
So I'll still have to d/l on game day? I thought that was the point of preloading? That would suck.

Now what would impress me is if it is 60 hours of just story scenes... LOL
Either way, 60 hours is a good amount for a story. I would imagine this is not 100% completing the game. Just like a straight run through of the story. It will easily be another 20+ hours for side missions and depending on the player, it can take much longer. I won't be able to play every day but the first few days I will be investing a lot of hours in it.
Anyone know of any comparisons off the top of their head? I'm struggling to picture how long it is compared to other games.

Damn nice dude. I am going to have to check these out. I like reading novels form people who are less well known. Seems like once authors blow up, they lose their edge or something.
I can send you part one if you like? Always happy to share my work.

theme park feeling and breaking of immersion
I'd be both surprised and disappointed in equal measure if they did anything even remotely pantomime in RDR2. Can't see it myself - this game seems far more serious.

@BropolloCreed79 you know...i always thought that the prohibition era would be a great setting for a Red Dead game...
You're right, bootlegging and the underworld it took place in would make a great game. Lawless is a great movie set in that era.
Tommy guns, gangsters. Epic.

A beautiful sight to behold.

Only, it took about 5 minutes to install them all. Pretty sure it didn't include the main game content.
Still, it's good to see those red tiles.
