I know for months we have asked who would be returning from RDR, but what about cameos from the RDRevolver game?  Though I don't expect the characters to make a huge intro, but it should be about the same time period.  Do you think we will get easter eggs and see those characters in the back ground?

Gotta say, I never even played that game, and never will. Anyone else in the same boat?

If we're thinking of the same video, the word "BOOYAH!" is involved, but unlike you, I show everyone that video.  It's a great conversation starter at parties.

No it's a different one. I'm not even going to show anyone.

In RDR, when John ran into all of his old friends, they had separated and went to new places.  If and when you control the gang are you going to follow in the footsteps and make your mark on where your friends may set up.  Head for Dutch's camp into the mountains, Fort Mercer, settle down in Beechers Hope, or head for Mexico?  Or are you going to head in your own direction to see if their is better place to hang your hat?

For a start I'll be interested to see what happens to the camp when the story ends. Will it still exist?

I couldn't seem to find a true answer to this online. Someone mentioned it on another forum, but no one actually answered him. I thought I would ask here. Is there like an actual size comparison we can make to GTA V's now that we have the official map? Like is it the same size? Bigger? Smaller? It is hard to tell just looking at the map for me.

Pretty sure the top left of the leaked map is yet to be revealed also

That's my point. R* literally designed online to be a GRIND. It was never meant to be a rewarding experience of building a criminal empire from scratch. It was intentionally created to frustrate teenagers into buying shark cards. And luxury items like yachts (which you said yourself have no utility outside of "bragging rights") were placed into the game to make teenagers jealous of each other to the point of buying shark cards to get to the level of their in game friends.

R* utilizes the same type of predatory practices that Facebook does. It creates social imbalances where people feel the need to compete. In the same way people on social media NEED people to press the like button on their photos, GTAO players (especially young teenage ones) feel the NEED to own luxury items in the game (especially when their buddies own apartments and full garages and a collection of yachts). And they'll shell out $20+ a month of their parents money to buy a couple mill a year in the game.

You said it yourself, you needed get rich quick tutorials to help you make money in the game. You couldn't have done it intuitively by just playing missions and having fun. I'm also guessing (I may be wrong) that it wasn't all pleasant. A lot of your wealth building in game was a tireless grind. Not enjoyable or rewarding in the same way buying a shark card gives you instant gratification.

I can't argue with any of this. In fact I can't argue with anything you've put here.

My hype for RDR2 is purely for offline mode, and I'm certain it's going to deliver. If online turns out to be a grindfest then I just won't go online.

I disagree. We've also seen several videos including gameplay which have been phenomenal.

That's like judging a book by several very riveting excerpts from different chapters. Which is a far sight better than by just looking at the cover.

We've also read 10 of their other books which were amazing, and other people have read this book and have said it's amazing.

I was there day 1 of GTA online. It barely even worked. I waited 2 years for heists, and when they came I only ever finished 2 of them. They required a party of 4 at all times in a game where most players are scumbags looking to kill noobs for fun. I was expecting payday 2. I felt duped.

Honestly, when R* says there'll be heists in RDR2 I'm expecting maybe 3 to 5 in the main storyline. Nothing else. I believed them when they advertised heists as a radiant thing in GTA 5. I won't make that mistake again.

Heists as a concept were great, and when they worked, even better. But being where I am in the world it took so long for people to join the heist lobby that... and I am not joking here... I have been kicked for inactivity. Good idea, poor application.

F the players. BUT as soon as a money making glitch is found -- INSTANTLY FIXED. They can't risk players making money in the game. If they did they wouldn't buy shark cards with their parents money.

Absolutely. They are making obscene amounts on shark cards so that's what they are trying to protect. Good practise for them, crappy for us.

I'm HOPING Rockstar realized the massive amount of loyalty and respect (and money) that CDPR got for their pro-consumer practices with The Witcher, and I hope they're taking steps towards implementing those types of pro customer practices in their games as well. That being said, I don't expect it. Too many shareholders demanding a quick profit. And we're seeing them push pre-order bonuses and special editions and $100 MERCHANDISE BOXES (that don't even include the RDR2 game!). Red flags are everywhere.

Yes. I don't normally hack the system but I have to level with everyone, I paid for a modded account for GTAO. It was the only way to enjoy the game. I truly hope RDR2 doesn't put me or anyone else in the position where they have to consider that.

I had no idea that horse balls needed physics... You know someone will make a meme or gif of that soon as they can. lol

I like that there is a wide range of animals. Given that the map is double the size of RDR's map, I kind of expected it.

On my way home I stopped, bought my Xbox and RDR, started playing that night.

Not many games can do that. Gran Turismo 1 did it for me. RDR would CERTAINLY have done it also if I didn't already have an XBox.

    I'll never be the same...

I have a similar thing with a video I saw many years ago. After that moment it remains unwatched to this day.

Oh that probably would be good...

I don't currently, but you just gave me a reason to get one. I was thinking about it a few weeks ago but couldn't think of anything I would really use it for.

Edit: I might be able to borrow one though...

Nice! Glad to see another published author here. (I published a novel a few years back, but didn't use a pen name.)

Cool can I check it out?

As a newcomer to the series it may actually make sense for them to play the games backwards, so RDR2 first then play RDR1. The only problem being that it will feel like a major step backwards in terms of gameplay and graphics, but from a story perspective it would link up nicely, especially if, as has been speculated, we end RDR2 playing as John Marston. It is a unique opportunity that majority of us wouldn’t get to experience as we have played the original already.

I wonder if you need the attachment to JM that you get in RDR1 to fully appreciate the story they're going to deliver in RDR2
