If they change anything about the progression in this game, it won't be like their other games. The way they have done games for the last 15+ years isn't going to change.

GTA  5 was different than the rest of the games they have done in the last 15 years..

  2. Black hat all the way for me. What's the point of living in the brutal wild west, in a murderous gang of theives, with an arsenal at your finger tips, and walking around being lovely to everyone? F that — I can do that IRL with none of those things.

  3. Even if it was 100% confirmed that there would be SP DLC, they could change their minds whenever they wanted, just like they did with GTA. I've said this a lot on these boards — why would they change the billion dollar making model they have with GTA shark cards and free online DLC for something potentially not as lucritive? The only reason for them not to adopt that approach for RDR2 and go for SP DLC could be that the RDR setting wouldn't lend itself to all the grinding and customisation that GTA Online can afford.

BEST CASE SCENARIO - Red Dead Online is a savage utopia with no places to hide, where you can kill and rob other players for personal gain, roam across the map with your pals, hunt wild animals and customize your character

This. Edit, although I would want to be able to hide. It's shitty how in GTA someone can just see where your blip is on the map and come and hunt you down. I would prefer it to be a bit more subtle in RDR so that if you are off in the mountains no one knows you are there, and you can chill, like it would be in real life.

Which part of the world? Why would there be a problem?

I'm from England but I live on a Thai island now. Not many players out here so GTA 5 heists are always difficult to do because I just sit there waiting for someone to join, and BF1 servers are very often empty etc. Plus if the only servers are in the US then my ping will be bad. Not sure where R$ house all their servers tbh.

Worst Case scenarios: Not authentic- ridiculous customization options (ie; pink shotguns and 'tricked out' horses)

                                            Modders. period.

An unimpressive Online experience- My biggest fear is that they don't follow the GTA format and the Online experience is something far less than we're expecting.

Can't see them being underwhelming with the online side considering the success of GTA. If anything it will be bigger. It was a HUUUUGE money spinner for them so they will be rubbing their hands with this game.

Worst case (for me) - Empty lobbies and no way of playing heists etc in my part of the world

Best case - lots of servers, good ping, lots of players, lots of things for me to do with other people

  7. Anyone hear about that game that was due for release next month where you can play as a school shooter? Think it's Russian or something and it's been cancelled now but seriously, like what goes through peoples' minds. Like maybe, MAYBE someone might think let's make a game where you can shoot up a school and then the thought is gone in less than a second, but this game went all the way through dev and into alpha and it was still cool with them.

I remember back with an older GTA where our family (my three brothers and I) would take turns mowing down peds in a fire truck with the idea being that you can't take your foot off the pedal unless stuck to see how long we could survive before we caught fire and exploded or got shut down my the police and it was insane fun.

The gore when mowing down peds in GTA 4 was particularly satisfying

There is certainly some good info in that video and link, but after seeing the game in action it's a bit frustrating that no one's bothered to clarify how the physics are handled.  Everyone knows the gif going around of the body sliding on the ground in the latest trailer akin to something out of GTAV, which used a heavily gimped version of Euphoria engine.

For a game that's going to be loaded with new details, I really hope they don't forget (or exclude) a very vital one that made the previous Red Dead so much fun to play.

Maybe that aspect was under NDA.

Not that I noticed.  FC5 was a very shallow game IMO.  It felt gutted and downright frustrating at times compared to previous iterations in the franchise for a number of reasons I won't go into here.

Yeah, still interested to see how it will work in relation to how much they put into the whole damage mechanic.  R* always seems to have so many little details whether it's the environment, interactions, etc.

FC5 did have similar. You shoot an animal it will walk off limping and moaning until eventually dying.

I'd personally hate it if Rockstar implemented the Passive Mode from GTA Online as for me it was more like a game breaking glitch than a feature, I'd much prefer it if they just had Friendly Freeroam and Normal Freeroam like in Red Dead Redemption's Multiplayer.

I loved using my environment and surroundings to win battles in RDR'S Multiplayer, when playing Red Dead Online I don't want to pin someone behind a rock with gunfire or shoot someone to low health just for them to go in Passive Mode run towards to me to kill me or run away so they can try again in 5 minutes. I just don't think players should get second chances like that in multiplayer shootouts or have what is essentially God Mode in Red Dead Online as it can totally destroy the immersion and/or fun for anyone who's playing with them.

Passive mode for me is a must, just so I can go about my business with some idiot killing me or my horse. But I agree, it needs some work. I also hate it when someone tries to grief you, then when you start to own them they just switch to passive mode and come and stand next to you.

Maybe there is some cool down time, like the system could know you are in combat so you can't go into passive mode until the heat has died down, similar to how the cops work I guess. That way you can still go into passive mode but not while you are engaged in a shoot out.

I’m sorry Benjo. We can’t be friends.

Kidding of course. I do the wandering thing myself. But I save that for Online. I’m usually hyper focused on the story and run right through it. Rockstar are tremendous story tellers.

Yeah I remember you talking about cutscenes on another post and saying how much you like them. I dunno, maybe I'll give this one a bit more of my attention and see if it pulls me in.

Yeah I'm looking forward to learning more about him, from first impressions he doesn't seem very trustworthy and I wouldn't be surprised if he betrays Arthur or the Van der Linde Gang at some point but that's speculation based purely on his demeanour and quote from Trailer 3.

"Sons of Dutch. Makes us brothers. Sometimes... brothers make mistakes."

Maybe he was talking about JM, leading up to the reason they left him for dead.

Whaaaaaat? Yeah, you’re nuts. Are you just an Online guy?

Well, yes and no. Not with RDR1, the online was just annoying and pointless. On RDR1 I used to just wander around doing things, making my own story, getting 100%, making money for the sake of it, hunting for no reason, that kind of thing. With R$ for me completing the story mode is just a way to get everything unlocked, and I hate to admit it but sometimes I just skip cutscenes straight away even if I haven't watched them before as I'm so uninterested in the story.
