    Hello everyone,

As you will recall from my previous post, I work for Rockstar. I mentioned before that this specific issue was brought up and then pushed aside because there were other priorities.

Recently, this issue has again resurfaced and I would like to clarify a few things that have happened and what the plans are for the near future in regards to this issue:

    - This issue was brought up and finally escalated last week to the relevant teams.

    - They got back to us and it's been verified that there is absolutely nothing we can do in the short term in regards to this issue. A fix would likely take 6-12 months, and might never be done.

    - The next patch will address bugs that affect both the Xbox and Playstation versions altogether. There are plans for patches after that in the next couple of months to give Ps4 Pro users more control over the graphics settings, but it has been confirmed by our specialists that it would only minimize the problem and not solve it.

As always, your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

but why are you guys releasing the game in such bad shape at all?

  2. To the users that say we don't have a life and things like that, a lot of people including me bought a ps4 pro just for this game and spending 400€/$ is a little fortune especially for the ones that don't have a steady income because they are still going to school etcetera. So in all honesty I think we have the right to speak about our frustration without that people telling us to just buy a Xbox one x or to chill down.

I  just joined the forum specifically as I had googled the PS4 Pro "blurry" issue.

Having pre-ordered RDR2 (a first for me) I then decided to delay install to wait for bug patches, as I didn't want my experience marred.  Therefore I can't speak from personal experience, but as I'm currently re-playing GTA V on my Pro with Super Sampling and Boost Mode, through a Phillips Ambilight 4K, I have to say GTA looks beautiful!

With RDR2 I've read so many comments from people massively disappointed with the presentation on the Pro...is it really that bad?  Watching footage on YT (trying to avoid spoilers) just to see what it looked like...I have to say, even through my basic PC and a HD monitor I think it looks great.

So my question is: does the game really look that bad?  Or is it simply that people got their expectations too high?  It seems weird that Rockstar won't issue an official statement when they had a marketing deal with Sony - and the guy in the shop where I bought the game, himself a One X owner, said that he thought the game would run better on PS4 because of that relationship between Sony and R*.

The fact that this doesn't seem to be a universal complaint makes me wonder whether there are some strange individual PS/TV interface issues (beyond my understanding), or whether certain people are just disappointed with the way the game looks.

Is it unplayable?  Maybe I should just install it and see for myself, but surely if I can appreciate GTA V with boost, RDR2 will still blow me away visually?

it depends on the individual! it's like a game with poore performance, some people will feel it when they play it and some don't, but I can assure you that the problem with the blurry image is true and if you lucky you are not that sensitive like the people in this thread :)

Change.org ? Without me. You can use all what i´ve written. For me it is a trash game and absoloutely overhyped. Make noises, but without me.

I can understand your disapointment but I think a petition could make enough noise to make a difference.

Yes, I do a big job now. Wrote a letter to digital foundry and I will hope I receive an answer. I hope they accept my writing, because of my german english. Denglish we call it :)

Thank you buddy, I tried to contact them on Twitter but they disabled the direct message function, a way to get in contact with them is maybe by the eurogamer site. And how did you try to contact them?

  6. So this problem was spread pretty good around the Internet and Rockstar dident mention it one time which makes for me the impression that they are going to ignore the problem

I also like many others was writing a message to the R* support but I just got a generic answer from them  like everyone else

Yes I hope so. We have a small developerteam in germany, that are all hard workers. THe team is called Piranha bytes. They work with the community. I like how the team is working and spend time for the fanbase community. That are the team of gothic one and two and the risen series . the last output was elex. Elex is nearly bug free. They  put different temporal antialiasing solutions in the game on pc, a button to turn off motion blur and depth of field.

This was a small team and they throw out the patch after 3 month of the release. This are only a team of 25 persons. I think rockstar can do this in a month if they want that.

I don´t know how difficult it is to integrate real hdr 10. The witcher 3 becomes hdr at the cost of less details on the ps4 pro. It is not the best HDR solution. THey work on the patch a half year after the ps4 pro enhanced patch was released.

HDR is not my biggest problem. If you have a 10 Bit display you can use yuv420 option of your ps4 pro or ps4. The colours looking amazing without hdr.

I hope they fix the game in one or two month nearly completely. Look at assassins creed odyssey. The team throw out patches every week. It runs now very good on the pro with real good hdr implementation.

I hope for a patch that will remove the blurry problem because it would be such a shame to play a game with so nice graphics and details whit that kind of problems

But I think R* will either ignore the problem or fix this after a long time

It is the motion blur and to agressive taa. temporal antialiasing. You can fix the checkerboard issues, but not the rest. Start red dead redemption in 1080p resolution, set the sharpening slider under display options to zero. Go in you ps4 pro settings menu, change the resolution to 2160p rgb, go back into the game. Not shut down the game befor, only switching in your ps4 settings. Now you will have a sharpening slider. Set the sharpening slider to max, turn off hdr. Now you can see the distance sharpness is back, but you have the to agressive motion blur and the taa.

ok good to know so if R* will spend their time to fix this issue we can have a clear immage.
