What are you most excited for in RDR2?

Never played Red Dead so I dunno what to expect,

It's a long story why I ended up jumping on the hype wagon but that second trailer had a lot to do with it.

I want to see how deep the survival and exploration aspect is-I am looking forward to riding out by myself just looking around. I wanna see those horse mechanics. I've always loved Rockstar maps so I wanna see this world they made and how detailed it is.

So yeah the map, the world building. I am excited to see the world they made.

Why don't you use this last 20 days as a chance to play it? Even in 2018 it still holds up pretty well, and the story is far better than any other game that I can think of. It is a prequel I suppose, and if you don’t know the story of RDR at all, then I would wait to play it until after rdr2. Obviously your choice, just surprised you haven’t played.

The only place I can think of easily playing it would be from PS Now, and for me I dunno if it's my connection or where I live but I can't get a solid connection for nothing. I don't have a PS3 anymore and my PC is basically non existent.

To make a long story short and throw in some context I am basically just playing the game for my wife so she can watch. She watched some youtuber play the first one and wanted me to play this one for her. It's kinda a thing we do, so I oblige.

But I'm thinking I may end up liking this for myself and then I will for sure get my hands on a copy of the older one.

That's a good question. By the sounds of the direction they've taken with this game I would expect either a lot of new inhabitants or for it to remain empty or quiet for a long time. Gonna be fun finding this kind of stuff out.

Wait... There is a chance that I could mow down a town and it becomes a ghost town? 😲

I will have a lot of fun with that if it is a thing in the game. That sounds pretty awesome. Gives you incentive not to kill everyone if you want service or need to buy something lol

Although the ability to turn any town into a ghost town by killing all it's residents would be cool, I doubt Rockstar would include NPCs that don't respawn. If NPCs the player killed didn't respawn, most towns would be filled with a bunch of un-killable children running around like a Wild West Lord Of The Flies.

I wanna explore the world, discover secrets in areas both old and new as well as encounter some of the more unusual strangers scattered throughout the world.

I'm also eager to visit the port city of Saint Denis, I'm almost certain Red Dead Redemption II will feature either stationary or drivable riverboats that the player can board, walk around and possibly even gamble on.

I wouldn't be surprised if riverboats are something Rockstar has kept quiet about as riverboats would fit the time and setting of the game perfectly, the first Red Dead Redemption was originally going to feature a functioning albeit stationary riverboat in Blackwater but it was scrapped before release so functioning riverboats in the Red Dead series have been a long time coming.

As a newcomer to the series it may actually make sense for them to play the games backwards, so RDR2 first then play RDR1. The only problem being that it will feel like a major step backwards in terms of gameplay and graphics, but from a story perspective it would link up nicely, especially if, as has been speculated, we end RDR2 playing as John Marston. It is a unique opportunity that majority of us wouldn’t get to experience as we have played the original already.

I wonder if you need the attachment to JM that you get in RDR1 to fully appreciate the story they're going to deliver in RDR2

If you're interested in experiencing RDR, I would play it first if you can.   Personally, I don't think I could handle going back to the old graphics, clunky mechanics, etc. after playing RDR2.  ....just wouldn't be worth it to me.

In fact, PS4 currently has a 7 day free trial for their PS Now.  I have been playing RDR for the past 2 nights.   ....although I am beginning to realize why some folks hate this service as it has proven to be pretty stuttery.  I may just end up bringing my PS3 from upstairs and plugging it in next to my PS4 so I can play RDR from the disk.

I watched a review from Gamespot who had played the first 5 hours. They brought up an interesting theory. They said with the amount of immersion in the world and realism involving NPCs (according to R*, each has their own life and personality) some players may not want or feel comfortable killing random people.
