We Have An Internal Posse System Too

Lonestar

Recommended Posts

You are not obliged to use it, but here are the details:

You can now create Posses right here on the RDR2 forum, which allow you to create and control your own areas of the forum for whatever topic you may wish.

Looking for like-minded players who enjoy rolepaying? Add or join an existing Posse. Want some players who are around your age and who take the game seriously? There's a Posse for that already.

https://www.rdr2.org/forums/clubs/

You can give users certain access levels, upload a cover photo for your Posse, and also give it an icon, as seen below. You need to have at least 20 posts (replies or new threads) to create a Posse.

Posse Types

Three types of Posse are available:

Public Posses
Posses that anyone can see and participate in without joining.

Open Posse
Posses that anyone can see and join.

Closed Posse
Posses that anyone can see in the directory, but joining must be approved by a Posse Leader or Posse Moderator. Non-Posse-members who view the Posse will only see the member list - not the recent activity or content areas.

Posse Users

Each Posse has three levels of user:

Leader
A leader has all of the permissions of a moderator, and can add other moderators. They can also add content areas. The Posse owner is automatically a leader.

Moderators
Moderators, as the name implies, have the ability to moderate content posted within the Posse.

Users
Anyone else that joins the Posse.

Why do you handle it like that?

So that people come and contribute to the forums at least a small amount, otherwise we'd just get groups coming, dropping their post with a link, and then never returning.

I would just suggest that you make the replies meaningful rather than simply trying to reach a particular post count.  .....but there are plenty of subjects being discussed around here so it shouldn't be too difficult to find ones to participate in.

Oh right thought i had to have certain amount of posts and so on then i thought it had to be accepted by the team running the forum.how do i set up please kean

No problem Saffron.  It's available to everyone.

The information is in the original post but here is the link:

https://www.rdr2.org/forums/clubs/

There is an option to the right to "Start a Posse".  The option to name it, insert as description, platform, etc. is all in there.  Hope this helps.

@Kean_1 I cannot find how to get The Blue Hare Crew listed in the Posse directory. Please advise. Thank you for the help and all you do for this forum .

No problem....

Go to that link I provided (https://www.rdr2.org/forums/clubs/) and then click on the red button to the right of the screen where it says "Start a Posse".  It also looks like a column header.  Once you click that I think the rest of it is self explanatory.  You enter the posse name, whether you want it to be private, public, etc.  .....platform and so on.

@Major Dammidgewondering when you were going to put that up!

Keep wondering. There's no red button that looks like a column header that I can find and I've been reading longer than 98% of the people on this forum (I will be 119 years old in September). I have pushed everything pushable. I have been leading a posse whose members reside on another continent and riding in a posse on a third continent*. And maybe that's a good thing because I and not stinking up the good old USA 🤣

I just have to figure out when you and I can get some playing time in. I have requests from five other players, friended them all and can't seem to find when they are online. I live between Louisiana and Alabama, 400ft. from the Gulf of Mexico, surrounded by a bayou with real live gators in southernmost Mississippi.

*Awesome, isn't it? People of different ages on different continents can talk to each other and enjoy action-packed gaming.

As a consolation prize, maybe @Kean_1 can change my account name to my Xbox gt The Grey Hare

No worries, I’m just giving you a hard time. We’ll get some game time in soon, I’m in this training that sucks up my whole day so between that and just the regular house chores/paying attention to the family stuff, my game time has been kinda sketch recently. Things should calm down soon.

I’m looking forward to utilizing this system. I’m glad you guys have done this.

I hope you find it useful. The owner had a good idea here and I wish more would utilize it. Perhaps when / if things get rolling with RDO (e.g. patches, more content, etc.).

Another possible reason IMO is that there are quite a few coming here only to use this site to recruit instead of being part of this community.  They have their own Discord channels, websites, etc. and drive members there instead of here. Not saying it's necessarily bad or done will ill intent in all cases but simply one reason.  .....IMO.

Right, most people want to use discord or their own sites because they have control over those things. What they don’t realize is that utilizing the club system it’s practically a free website to use with subforums and such that THEY DO HAVE CONTROL OVER. With the rise of Discord, it kills the drive to get on websites and forum boards and communicate. I plan on using it for the rules, structure and roster for my Posse, that way it drives more traffic here, and helps keep track of membership activities and who’s more dedicated to go on to this website and post something in the general chat or posse up chat, etc.. This way you know who really wants to be a part of the leadership if provided.

They only real limitation beyond any possible design disagreements someone may have are that the forum rules still apply.  .....but that's just common sense stuff and really geared to protect / benefit the community. Folks still have quite a lot of freedom to create their groups the way they want as you say.

Right. I have some experience with the club system powered by invision community. I was a Moderator for KSI Global for a time before I left due to corrupt leadership and favoritism. I've also dabbled with demos, hence why I am glad I came across this site because it's a platform I am used to. @Kean_1
