Vaping?

Anyone on here vape?

I have a friend who started this a few months back and quick smoking entirely thanks to it. I have some family who say they want to quit but more and more years go by. I feel like vaping can be good for people looking to quit smoking but it seems a bit odd to start vaping just to vape. I mean it almost seems like you are doing it to be cool and hip if you are not a smoker or an ex-smoker. Maybe I am just being a hipster myself. lol

I know more people who vape than smoke and most of them never smoked which makes me scratch my head. I smoke. I enjoy it. What I don't enjoy is people telling me how much safer and better vaping is in terms of health. If I did this to people who drank I would be laughed at... Ya know WATER IS HEALTHIER THAN ALCOHOL!

It all seems dumb to me. Could be because I never smoked. I don't really know. I guess if it helps people quit smoking I am for that. But it shouldn't be forced on people. That is just like trying to force veganism on meat eaters.

Does anybody at any point had a go at implanting cannabis on their sustenance? I have perused many articles proposing that cannabis has an extremely powerful impact when it accompanies agony and inflamation like this strain ___________. The explanation behind this is I dont smoke so blending it with nourishment appears a smart thought. Any individual experience or tribute is very valued. TIA

Not really on topic bro.

As for the OP, I didn't know this was a thread going. I vape on and off. I originally started to cut back on smoking but ended up quitting for a while all together. I smoke now but only a pack if that a week. Mostly just smoke with my coffee in the AM and after dinner.

Particulate matter entering the lungs (smoking, vaping) all causes cancer.

Smoking nor vaping directly causes cancer, it just increases the odds of it happening. It is the breakdown and repetitiveness of the tissue creating new cells at a higher level that cause cancer. Smoking and vaping increase the turn over rate, thus increasing the risk. Bonfires, hairspray, working around bleach or other chemicals all do the same thing, some even more so than smoking. If you keep your immune system healthy and take care of yourself outside of this, your chances are slim. If you are a completely unhealthy idiot and abuse your body though, good luck.

I hope you are not advocating that either is a good idea. I do agree that it doesn't cause it directly, but why take the risk? They don't really serve any purpose. Like drinking gets you drunk, weed gets you high, what does smoking or vaping to for anyone really other than making their lungs turn to shite?

I used to know people who started vaping but never smoked. I vaped once to try it, but it was pointless really because it didn't have nicotine in it. The was just breathing in blackberry flavoured vapour. I have my own vapour... from my inhalers. ????

Nah, I smoke.

I've tried to switch to vaping, but it's the smoke more than the nicotine that gets me. That said, I really should be trying to quit...

Yeah, I've been trying those nicotine patches for the past few weeks. There hasn't been much of a change tbh, I've gone from smoking 8 a day to 6 a day...

Never tried the patches, the times that I stopped I just went cold turkey. It's just those first few days that suck. If you can make it a few days without one, you're pretty much in the clear. I've always been good about not smoking while I'm sick, so in the past I've used that as a starting (stopping?) point.

My boss asked me what incentive she would have to offer for me to quit though, so I'm also kind of waiting to see if she comes up with something lol

Edit: and 2 less smokes per day really adds up. Might not seem like much, but it's a start. Just keep it up! How long have you been smoking?

Only about 5, but I've been smoking on and off for 11-12. Started during my freshman year.

I started smoking right after I left uni, depression kicked in. Booze and cigs(sometimes drugs)were the medication for me during those dark times.

Glad to hear you got through your depression @Freddie Mercury

"Quitting smoking is easy. I have done it a thousand times" to paraphrase.

I have tried to quit smoking three times via vaping. It was never the same to me.

I had quit smoking cigs(again) earlier this year. Unfortunately as soon as summer started I needed breaks during my long days so I picked it back up.

Been an on and off again smoker for years. Really think its about time I quit, but probably won't until I get a new job.

I smoked and quit 2 times. The second time I used vaping. Now I only use vaping on occasion when I have a craving. It isn't the same as smoking and doesn't give the same feel and whoever tries to push that were never longterm smokers. I smoked for a good 8 years so huffing some liquid is going to feel different.

A bit of a late response but since the thread got bumped from the grave I figured I would say something.

For a lot of people who want to quit, it is hardest to do so when you are stressed. Work stress and relationship stress seem to be the two things that make it the most difficult. I would say it was easy to quit for me when I did but I would be lying. The first few months I craved them. Anytime I seen someone in a show smoking, it hit me the hardest. Get into a good mindset in your life and it won't be easy, but it will be a lot easier.

Nothing against vaping but the general "cloud" community around it just put people like me off from it. I would much rather smoke and have a dry cough than feel 30% better and look like one of those douche bags. No offense to anyone who does vape because I could put money on it that you know the people I am referencing and you don't like them either.

I Vape, but it's only a crutch to help me quit smoking. I know who you were talking about, I'm assuming it's not people who vape in general, but those who vape and feel the need to get the biggest cloud possible? Like I said, I use it as a crutch, it's not a competition to see who can have the biggest cloud. I heard that they actually have competitions for the biggest cloud, with people who build their own coils and stuff... In that aspect it certainly is ridiculous! I no longer cough and wheeze, I feel a million percent better and it's a lot cheaper.

my son vapes to help quit smoking, or so he says anyway.  I quit smoking 15 years ago or so, tried vaping once with the 0% nicotine oil and coughed my head off.

I know who you're referring to also @RON, one of the people working in the local vape shop here is like that.  I've gone in there with my son and the place is so clouded at times i have to leave to breath.  i get that it's a vape shop but that just drives away customers.

I smoked for 30 years or more, then got deathly ill from pneumonia in July '17. Was on full life support for 5 days and they told the wife I was a goner. But I recovered only to get pneumonia again 2 more times in the next 6 months. I was told if I went back to smoking I'd be dead in no time so I got into vaping and now don't miss smoking at all. I used a Que at first, then a Juul (what all the kids use) and now a Lost Vape Orion DNA Go. For me it's a godsend and my doctor said "Good" when I told her I was vaping. Without vaping I'd be smoking for sure and probably dying. I also don't like the dweebs on videos that have to have the biggest clouds or best device - I'm trying to get nicotine in me and small clouds is what I'm after since the wife STILL doesn't like it. "Stealth vaping" LOL

Even as someone who Vapes, I absolutely hate it when I walk into a shop like that and you can't even see the cashier or the people working there because of the cloud. It's actually very annoying. And you are correct does drive away customers, including me. I usually don't go back

I have tried it. My brother vapes. I can see the appeal over cigarettes as you don't smell like a dirty ashtray and it doesn't stain your clothes or anything in your house. I was tempted to get some 0 nicotine menthol vapor just because I love the cool feeling in my throat.
