Probably won't last, but it is possible. So it’s been weird. I tried drinking tons of beer at camp. Blacked out twice and the core reduction decreased yet it didn’t change. Turned off the application and loaded it and it said average. Then it still says the core drain rate is still -100% so idk if that means normal or if it’s twice as fast. Also I have no clue how to actually save progress. I know a small wheel spins bottom right but it seems like the game doesn’t pick up on any weight changes until u completely close the app. I rly have no clue how to save progress. I do think it helps getting some type of loading screen. So I’m FINALLY at average weight however my core drain rates haven’t changed and that’s the important thing for me. I blacked out twice drinking beer and in intervals of 8 minutes real time ate meat and snacks. So no really rhyme or reason that I know of and no manual save options that I know of. So definitely still confused. Have a feeling an update will change this or atleast inform us how to maneuver it. Certain things should have like a point total and then state what u need to consume over time in order to not lose weight

watery buffalo
My weight seems to go normal to underweight every 10 days (in-game days) no matter what I eat or how I eat. I think if you are not moving around as much the weight stays on longer? Maybe? I haven't figured it out yet.
Motherlover1985
This is takes abit of technique... Eating all the food at once wont do anything... Firstly cook u food with herbs preferably large game meat... And eat until core is full and everytime u see ur cores drop throughout the game.... I heard eating then reloading a map then eating again will work.... Hope this helps... Weight gain or loss is a gradual thi g and u need to be consistent... Tried this and it never seems to work for me. My character is always underweight and nothing I have tried has improved this for me. Some friends showed me this technique and I have been doing it ever since.
Harlock1796
I've been assuming that 100% core drain rate is 'normal' - any other views on that? I, too, live my RDO life underweight, despite (or maybe because of) living on a regular diet of herbed big game meat, only broken up by the odd biscuit or tin of fruit when I've picked up enough of those to max out my carrying capacity. Looney Dan
I was going to make a thread for it but since this one was bumped a week or so ago, I will ask here. I can't manage to put on weight. I am either very thin or in the "healthy" range for a short period of time. I wanna make my character a porker like me. How can I put weight on him and keep it on? Snipe
I’m pretty sure that, in a way similar to the way horse bonding keeps ‘resetting’ between sessions or spawns randomly for no clear reason, weight for the character also has some bugs in it. I’ve tried a ton of different approaches to trying to put on weight, and there doesn’t seem to be a consistent answer. The best I’ve seen is that if I just consistently over-eat like 7 or 8 heavy meat items per game day, all through the game day, that SOMETIMES keeps me from dropping to underweight. But... sometimes not. It’s just not consistent enough yet. Here’s to hoping the new patch digs into it some and makes it more consistent. (Or at least, less finicky.) Notably, I do NOT have any issues keeping my horse “fit”. Like, ever. I feed it pretty much twice to three times per game day with high-nutrition items and that seems to keep her right as rain!
mizTik
I was thinking there was a bug here as well because it seems nearly impossible to get bigger and maintain it. Like they have to adjust something to make it work better.

jnaron_ngc
Is losing weight really gonna have any consequences for the players character?

I believe if you’re underweight or overweight your cores drain quicker by certain percentage as like in real life you’re classed as unfit
evilcd
I have viewed online that you go to Valentine and Blackwater, find the camps where you can get free stew like in the story mode base camp. Also you can eat six big game / beef, leave and restart in free roam, eat another six big game / beef and your weight goes up. I tried this and I put on weight. This didn't work for me, but then again I seemed to of lost my horse and got stuck with the stupid scrawny nag again. I also experienced where loading screens won't ever load. Then to top it off. I haven't seen animals for days, so hunting and fishing aren't happening. So the PvP has been at an all time high, cause stranger missions wasn't working before that. Personally I think (well hope) its to do with the new update & may be code is being altered, added, deleted (I’m no tech whizz by the way...lol), keep the advice in mind & keep trying when possible & definitely after the 26th Feb update. Being someone who is a tech wiz for a living, there shouldn't be changes till the update. Now if maintenance has not been done on the system, because the update is coming. Well, that could cause issues too. Edit: If maintenance hasn't been done. It may cause issues. Edited February 20, 2019 by YodaMan 3D
