Online Mode and the value of my time

So I just spent over an hour playing Online mode and the entire time either the orange quests would not start after accepting them or I would get booted before finishing by Online error code. And the most frustrating thing was I was charged a $2.00 Camp Upkeep Fee. That's over an hour of play with no progress and lost money. WHEN will these things be fixed?

Couple things we do is when starting a mission make sure your posse members are 40 or 50 yards from the mission giver ,also keep holding L2 untill the narative is done. Works for us and sometimes it takes a few seconds to kick in but always does. Hope this helps.

It is but it's the same on XB and i would expect them to fix it at some point soon. They are aware of the issue and it got allot better (at least on XB) after the most recent update earlier this week.

Hey, I play on Xbox also. I am still having stranger missions never start up after you accept. You can request a mission from same stranger again, still nothing happens. After that the choice to choose Accept **** is greyed out. I got 1 out of 5 to actually send me to a wagon.

I tried this for one session and I didn't have a problem with missions starting although there was a bit of delay on one.  It didn't matter how close my teammates were in my case.

I'll have to try it for a couple more sessions before I can say it definitely works for me though.  I also thought the same with a couple other things I tried (like moving around during the dialogue) until I had problems again.

I think the only thing that was updated this week was a code roll back to from when at least some missions worked.

Things went from no "Wagon" missions working to wagons finally appearing back in the world and more missions working. But I believe they had to roll back to and older version of the code because some of the older minor bugs came back.

I'm guessing they were hoping to move forward, but couldn't get things working.

Now only a handful of missions are even available to me.

My assumption is they underestimated the effort to port the core code to a workable online version and are struggling with memory issues or something. This online game is pretty much un-playable currently unless you want to deliver a few bags.

This just adds to the griefing because players are just bored.

I realize it's being labeled a beta, but RS really dropped the ball here and not sure why they are not being more honest and open about the issues.

I hear you and I'm not like a R* defender, but I hope your frustration doesn't keep you from enjoying what RDO has to offer.

In my opinion, they have Earned the benefit of the doubt per say. They gave us an unbeatable game (story) and world. Most knowledgable gamers are super tired and weary of endless Betas grabbing up people's money and simply staying in Beta for way too long. But its barely been a couple of months? Of course its frustrating, but many things work well in RDO and you can definitely make money. I can usually make about 60/hr doing missions and hunting while still feeling immersed, and I'm truly not a "Grindy" player, I actually hate typical games that make you grind.

All im saying is take it with a grain of salt. Its actually fair to give them even a Few More months for Beta.. and in the big picture, RDO will be around for another 5 years easily. (proof being in extremely recent GTAV updates).. R* plans on expanding and stretching out RDO for a long time. I just find it hard to hate on what they have at this point.

....that's a lot of assumptions there.  ;)

Not that the issues are not occurring (I'm not saying that at all) but keep in mind that they are not occurring the same for everyone.  In my case, I see no difference in the way the side missions work now than before.  They still don't work at times and in the same ways they did / didn't back before the update.  I understand that's changed for some folks.  For me, I can still do all of them as long as the missions start.  So far, the holding down of the L2 button (PS4) seems to be getting that done in my situation.

I think a lot of it has to do with network performance of the player and the people who share the session.  Personally, I don't think they rolled back anything but rather (perhaps) introduced new issues for some with the changes that they made.

The fact is that this update was more specifically for the Gun Rush mode and the other new additions (including bug fixes) will be coming with the title update.  ....where there will be a local download required.  I'd like to see how that shakes out.

Sometimes you need to ride off for a few meters or wait a few minutes and ride towards the said location. Overall it got allot better. We haven't had much trouble the recent days.

I can second this. I had WAY more issues in December than I do now when it comes to missions. I think this was a comment complaint so they wanted to get some of it fixed right away.

It's funny......   While some issues were resolved for me, I started experiencing new ones after the updates. Namely the disconnects others had been having. Never had those before but do now. .....although not often in my case.
