Are you a lone wolf?

I'm usually solo playing RDR2 online, but I've had some fun times with a small group of people. It's kinda lonesome, but I still find myself just immersed in the games beauty.

I'm not much of a talker, so people tend to just forget about me; the last group I was with I had some good times, but then there are a couple members that grief solo players and one guy is somewhat toxic over voice chat; I'm not offended, but I just cant stand for it. The problem is they always end up joining the posse i'm in but I don't stay silent when they go out of their way to attack a single player, so it gets awkward.

Anyway, I went back to being a lone wolf for the time being; when they implement R* social club crews into the game, then things might work out better who knows.

How about you?

I've joined open posses but either get kicked, kicked then attacked, or wait around too long for nothing to happen. It was wishful thinking I suppose, but probably wont try that again; for some reason some people have open posses but don't want anyone to join.

I get a lot of invites, but refuse them now. I used to accept, but then the leader wouldn't DO anything. It was like they just wanted to be leader. They wouldn't start missions or join games or what not. So I just refue them now. Plus I don't like to chat. So I tend to def be a lone wolf.

If none of my other regular posse mates are on, I'll lone wolf it. I don't posse up with randoms.

I hear you, I usually run with @Major Dammidge, if he's not on I'm  usually a lone wolf. I have tried joining a few temp posses with random but their way of playing was just not compatible with mine as many of them were just to young.

Definitely a solo player, only dipped into GTAO when it opened, but the few times I've joined good working posses it has been really fun, I totally get it, but it's like panning for gold, if I join PosseUp 9 times out of 10 I join a gunfight, a hunting or fishing posse, or the leader sets a waypoint on the other side of the map (don't get that at all) If it's a dishonourable leader I spawn right out, I wish there was a choice, I don't want to bring my honour down.

So recently I've gone back to solo playing Online, but I've mainly fallen back in love with Story mode, cos my hunting's suddenly got better and Arthur looks fab in his new gear!

I mainly play in posse, i'm lucky to have a nice group of friends IRL, we gather nearly everyday in game. We are at least 4 playing at the same time (the 4 who play the most, including me), and 3 other friends playing a bit less. 3 of us are above level 150 and others near lvl100.

Sometimes we also like to separate and live our own life, mainly for hunting/fishing.

Personaly i like both playing style. It's more fun in group but on the other side you are more "under pressure" being a lonewolf (in the good way).

If we play in posse we do mainly PvP showdown, some mission, we try plenty of stuff in free roam, we love to find good spot and fistfight between us thanks to "gang internal conflict" (for example we often steal a train and go on a tall bridge, then fight on the edge of emptyness, lot of fun!).

We are a friendly posse with strangers, unless people are looking for trouble, in that case we respond with explosive arrows but it happen very rarely.

Not always true. I sometimes leave it open if a friend tells me they are loading in. But in that minute someone always pops in. The invite feature doesn’t work properly all the time, leaving it open temporarily is the only option.

Weird.....  It's always worked for me.

I usually have a party chat set up for friends and then if they want to join, they let me know.  Sometimes they simply show up in my session so then I have to send them a chat invite as well as a posse invitation.

I'm on PS4 btw.

I can respect your view on being a lonewolf. You seem like you appreciate the game for what it is. Not all about mindlessly shooting on site.

I always run with a posse (The Born Brothers Gang) and its probably the main reason I even play. Recently, its been the most fun I can remember having in a game hands-down. We like to roleplay and immerse heavily and we play with free aim Only and never shoot friendly randoms on sight.

I'd highly recommend free-aim if you value honor and skill which it seems like you do. Not only does it automatically give more immersion, but being able to say you are actually aiming  rather than auto targeting in a fight just makes victory that much sweeter. (Until Hardcore free aim lobbies hopefully release like in RD1).

While I'm not here to jump on your thread to recruit people, you'd be more than welcome to check us out. (thebornbrothers. com) Or just find us in game.

I'm a lone wolf a majority of the time, unless I have a friend or two online.  I'm not interested in gaming with random people because it's not that enjoyable unless you're lucky and find like-minded people.  Online play for me is mostly just hunting and fishing, so using a posse isn't a necessity for me at the moment.

I think the issue has to do with a lot of people being part of several permanent posses. I am part of at least 5+ myself. That seems to jam things up and a lot of time causes issues. People forget to "abandon" a previous posse they ran with, etc. A  lot of times I keep sending them invites and they can't accept them. So that is why I open it. I usually use the in game chate vs PS party chat. I usually keep it on "Friends" so that I can talk to them to try to resolve issue.

Yeah definitely.

I'm new to the game and only have a couple of friends who play it, but none online.

I think I ride round with a neon sign on my hat cause I'm constantly being killed for no reason.

I just do stranger missions keeping myself to myself.

I do get posse invites but only joined one. The leader said so what you want and everyone left.

I am most definitely a lone wolf. Not because I necessarily want to be I guess....more because ive not found compatible players.

All the high level guys I know are assholes for the most part and enjoy killing everyone at all times (get a lot of xp that way) and I'm not like that. I never shoot 1st if I can help it. I know what its like to hunt for 2 solid hours and get taken out by some dude with explosive rounds on the way to the butcher. I just haven't found the players I'm looking for, I don't mind riding solo cuz I feel it has made me better as a player. Nothing like taking on an entire posse all on your own. I could honestly be way higher level than I am but I feel that's not really enjoying the game. I hunt and try to get the max of each animal skin I can get often times...10 rabbits, 10 squirrels, to raccoons etc then migrate west and get 10 gilas, 10 iguanas, 10 condor feathers.....not always but its a challenge I like to do sometimes and nets me at least 300 bucks. Medium animals are a waste after 4 pelts right now so ill kill for the meat. Then ill get 10 of each fish too. If no pelts on me I accept free roam event invites, do gang hideouts, or showdowns. The only area of the game I do little of are stranger missions and horse races. But I do EVERYTHING depending on mood. Sometimes, ill ride along a cliff edge scouting high level players with binoculars to see if they are griefing others. Ive sniped level 100's in the streets of valentine from the Cliffside nearby just as they began hogtieing a low level player. Nowadays I spend a lot of time crafting and hunting Ginseng for Special Health Cures and Potent health cures. Just sorta preparing for anything. I typically carry max meat at all times and max Tonics just hoping something will go down. I work on challenges for gold and have reset quite a few to max. This is why its hard to find posse's for me. I play my game as if my character is a real person (when possible). Most players just get on and just start shooting....im all for that, but I really enjoy the simple stuff that most wont waste their time trying to do.

I'm not necessarily an ANTI-Griefer..but I feel obligated to do the right thing most of the time. I just enjoy doing things that people don't expect to others do in the game. Sort of intentionally creating these realistic moments for players to keep them interested. Does it bite me in the ass sometimes? hell yeah it does....but even if someone doesn't remember my name, they can remember seeing a guy pull up in a wagon with a bunch of dear pelts in the back. Cimbing in the back , picking one up and tossing it on the ground in front of them....waving...and then riding on. I was really just hauling myself some extra pelts, but its even cooler when others see you do it ...until they force you to blow their head off.....lol

I also play in solo but have created a permenant possee "The Celtic Wildcats" I did try it as public but gave up due to idiot murder hobo's so made it  invite only, I am on xbox in the UK and my gamertag is Weepiercomet121 so if you want to try the possee thing without griefing and you see me out there message me and I will send you an invite.  RedDead 2 is the first game I have ever played online and so it has been fun and I look forward to all the upcoming content.

Yeah but I hardly have an option right now. The way things are in the beta makes it hard to run solo. Sometimes I hop on and get right back off within 20 minutes because of other players. I don't always have someone to play with either so I either have to deal with the aggravation, wait for one of my buddies to be free to play, or not play at all.

I’m solo most of the time, in free roam. There are 2 other like-minded folk who I get into a small posse with rarely, and over time that will increase. But mostly, I joined this game to be exactly what I am... a lone huntsman, roaming the world, facing its challenges as they come. I love the unpredictability of the game, as long as it isn’t forcing that in my face every 9-10 minutes.

Unless they do something horrible to mess up certain mechanics of the game I enjoy and turn the game into something ‘else’ due to nerf-criers and whiny bitches (like they did to No Man’s Sky), this will be a long-term gaming home for me. I enjoy roaming, exploring, hunting.

Even the ‘griefing’ others decry is something I enjoy. To a point... not abused to hell by spawn camp griefers who kill you at login or stalk you across servers. The changes R* mentioned adding are exactly some of the ones I was thinking I would like (map dot adjustments, better bounty penalties for those who constantly live by the gun, etc). Pair that with a couple options, say, where just like in real life a solo player is going to be harder to spot on maps than a big-ass possie rolling through and spreading rumors of their movement? I’ll probably be the misanthrope trapper for a long time.

Net: I solo, occasionally mixing it up on gun rush or race series. I find solo very survivable if I’m careful about it and avoid trouble. I don’t want the world to be TOO safe, but they need to keep it feeling ‘large’ and ‘uncrowded’ enough that lone wolves can slink back into the woods or corners when they want, to get away from the chaos bringers.

I've mostly been playing solo since day 1 because I love to get immersed in the world while listening to podcasts, and I imagine my endless podcast background noise would be very annoying to others over the mic. Plus I'm fairly new to online gaming (although have been gaming for decades) so haven't got into my online stride yet.
