GatoNegro
I am asking cause me and my gal get crap for not doing anything every year from people. Like we are a pair of diseased murderers or something. All my friends and family as well as her's nag us. They ask what we are doing and when we say nothing, it is just another day to us, we get lectured about our relationship. Surely we can't be the only couple who opts out of holidays like these!
Looney Dan
I know it is cheesy as hell but I always get my mother flowers. My dad stopped getting her anything years ago and I know the day means a lot to her. I get my girlfriend flowers and candy. Nothing fancy. No dinners or anything. Just simple. I don't think that is cheesy. I reckon a lot of women would find that very sweet. I do the same for my mom on Sweetest's Day. I never celebrated it with a girlfriend but I started buying my mother flowers that day. She calls it her Mother's Day 2.
DaveSpeek
I spent the day playing RDR2 after work. I think my time was well spent. Had some Taco Bell for dinner too. I have celebrated the day a handful of times if the gal I am with enjoys it otherwise I don't bother.

I'm with you. A lad at work asked me what I had brought my wife. My answer was nothing. We been together 17 years in July and married 14 in July. I tell her at least twice a day that I lover her and buy her whatever she wants when she wants something. Why should I go out and buy flowers double the price they were the day before or chocolates that will be half price the next day just because someone's says I should.

These commercial holidays are just that, commercial holidays. They are meant to target consumers to spend more and feel obligated to do it. I once dated a girl who broke up with me because I didn't get her anything on Valentine's Day. She didn't talk to me for a week after and when she finally did, she asked why and I told her I don't celebrate it. She said I made her feel worthless and look like a fool to her friends, then she dumped me. If your confidence in yourself our your relationship is based on a stupid holiday like this, you have problems. Couples like you and your wife are an inspiration. I wish more people felt this way.
