Arrain-N7
Maybe try not to take it so seriously - I know it can be difficult when you’ve invested a lot of time and effort into something, but at the end of the day it’s - literally - a game. Play who you want to play with, don’t play with who you don’t, and have fun. If it’s causing you stress or plays on your mind negatively, might be time to take a break. Nothing bad intended by this post, hope you enjoy RDRO and other games with players you want to run with.

HIGHHorse
This seems to be a common topic on here and other places. I think it is best to handle this a few ways depending on how the other player/players are acting. If you are just being annoyed by them, block them on your system, then go to a new server. If they are known griefers, you want to report them in the game then block them on your system, and hop on a new server. This is not full proof but this is the best approach. Most of the time once you block them on your system and go back online, you are not likely to end up on the same server as them. It can happen but it makes it a lot less likely. I have done this enough times myself to see that it works. As for reporting players, I really don't know how Rockstar handles that on their end but if they are genuinely bad players, I hope something is done.

Any unwarranted attack on me constitutes griefing. Fortunately, you can both report them to Rockstar and block them on PSN right from inside the game. For right now, these are the only official things you can do to possibly avoid these griefing characters. Ride away from them. 3.) Join a new game Reporting them is not way of handling things. Unless they are actually cheating and attacking you in someway. kevinwerrett
I played for 4 days and other players killed my horse 3 times...I even tried offense mod before going into towns and they still kill my horse...Their name appears for about 1 or 2 seconds,so it is almost impossible to report them...i was told that my horse could not be targeted by other players, which is false.... Well, you first need to understand that Defensive Mode is not a passive mode that makes you invulnerable. Auto aim is disabled for both you and your attacker initially but they can still free aim and shoot. Defensive Mode simply provides an advantage against possible aggressors by providing certain features and options to the user.

Jammin Jim
You never want to use Offensive mode when you are having trouble with people killing your horse. Defensive mode just makes it harder to kill you, it doesn't make it so you can't be killed at all.
Bucnation3139
(grieves ) are learning new tricks. Had a community member riding solo , starts getting grieved by a posse of 4 , they post in Angels chat line and 5 of us join to help. We are owning them when all the sudden. They parlay , here's where it gets good , after they parlay they stand down there posse but are all still ghosted. They are able to still kill us but our Bullitt pass right through them ??? They will always find a way. Just gotta own it the best you can !
SimonTemplar
I was riding into Valentine last night, to visit the stable to buy a horse, was riding pretty quickly and had no players visible on the radar, then suddenly just before I get there a player shoots me dead in one shot. Bolt action rifle to the head, apparently. Didn't see who it was, where they were, had no weapons drawn, none of it. I just respawned and went and bought my horse but I do wonder what they get out of it. It ought, imho, to mobilise law and trigger a hefty bounty, but crime is almost unpunished in the land of RDR.
The_Liquor
I still don’t find it more of a problem than the occasional annoyance... yesterday I was riding back from a hunting trip with a cougar and stack of pelts for Cripps... I saw a couple guys in a two man posse. I changed course to finish the ride to camp cross country pushing Red Liquor as hard as he could run. They chased, started getting close... I was lassoed off my horse but escaped quickly, they were on either side of me. With lightning reflexes I drew my LeMatts and put a shotgun round into each of them. I was able to remount and ride the rest of the way to camp before they caught up again... It actually made the last leg of the journey a bit more interesting if you ask me... Normally I’m not bothered by others.

Yeah, I guess the "lightning reflexes" help to make it only an "occasional annoyance." I guess everyone doesn't have them, so that might be just one of the reasons why some of us see it a little differently. Seriously though, it’s not that often I actually come across a true griefer... and the ones I do encounter after the update are more like my story above. A minor setback. Maybe they steal my cougar if they get the upper hand. Not the end of the world and almost never does is spiral into map spanning all day death matches anymore. 99% of the people I come across seem to be just interested in doing their own thing and leaving others be. Yes, I'm pretty levelled up, decent horse, decent firepower with decent ammunition, but still seem to come off second best most times if I try to defend myself against another human player. Am thinking I need to look into the dark art of these passive cards or whatever they are called as I need some sort of leveller. I rarely even use deadeye (not that I'd have time to use it against humans!). 1 hour ago, The_Liquor said: Not enough white lightning... As much as I’d like to take credit, I have to admit. The_Liquor
The truth is, in my story above, I simply managed to get to my camp before they could respawn, reorganize and come after me again. It had nothing to do with ability cards, it was simply auto aim combined with close range shotgun blasts that got me out of that jam (did I ever mention I love the LeMattes). Once I got to camp and unloaded my junk, they had little desire to wait me out. Would have likely been a different story had I been further out. I was also set up behind the mansion south of Rhodes and I suspect these two were waiting for the camp owner to come back with some quick easy loot... though why they didn’t shoot me In the back instead of lasso me I’ll never know...

Freakshow9191
You were griefed when you got shot fishing! FOR NO REASON!!! I was just minding my own business!! You actually need this in the game, and secretly you love it, and it's why you keep playing. It's that rush of the unknown, the danger of being thrown into a world of people, where you don't know what's gonna happen. You're playing a game (RDO) that is designed to be a real world old west simulator. A world where good and bad things happen, and you have the freedom to make decisions that you want. When the "griefer" shoots you first, you have a choice to make. you can parlay and it's over, you can leave, they leave, whatever. BUT..... usually you come back at them for revenge. When it works out and you have sent them running back with their tail tucked, you feel great! You tell your posse and friends the story of how you taught that griefer punk a lesson. You love red dead at that point. When it doesn't work out, and your decision not to parlay comes back to bite you, you're posting online and complaining to your friends and posse about how griefers ruin the game and demanding zero risk lobbies. You made those decisions. As in real life those choices are part of the simulation. You live with them. Imagine a RDO world with ZERO possibility of a confrontation with another player. You wouldn't even pay attention to others. People might as well be trees that you ride by without giving it a second thought. Invisible. The fact that sometimes you have negative encounters with players is exactly why you love it when people, wave, revive your horse or show some other random act of kindness, YOU ACTUALLY NOTICE IT. you say, wow, not everyone is bad. You gotta see the bad out there to appreciate the good. You want that element of danger out there so when you're riding with your buddies, and you pass players, you wanna feel like, "don't mess with my squad" . You don't feel that way when riding past NPC's.and with a zero risk lobby that's exactly what you have. a bunch of NPC's with custom outfits. so without griefers, what you have is story mode that you can change your face on. Fine, I understand, but....I would bet good money you're gonna get bored real quick from only having NPC's to challenge you. Before long I bet you're gonna enter back into the normal RDO world, complete with the good, the bad and the ugly. Griefers make you feel good when you defeat them. make you feel tough when riding with your posse, complete the good/evil dynamic of online, make the game seem dangerous like real life, give you something to focus on, give you perspective. THANK YOU GRIEFERS!
cpt_hale_storm
More and more griefers have been showing their ugly mugs. I think a lot of people have maxed out the roles. It also doesn't help when you are totally homeless thanks to Cripps and not being able to put a camp down. The hunting has been terrible for me lately on servers. I've tried starting a bounty to see if deer show up and ZERO, not even a bird. I did get griefed in Valentine and before you know it was pandemonium in the streets. We had 3 posses tangled up for about an hour. You may not always have a camp, but you will always have a player blowing you up while skinning a rabbit. The_Liquor
I think there is a line between legitimate conflict and griefing... where exactly that line is I suppose is a little subjective, but in my mind, killing someone fishing (for example) for absolutely no reason doesn’t make you an old west outlaw, just an annoying psychopath. However, trying to steal my delivery? Or steal my 3* cougar? Maybe take my bounty (if they ever fix that system)... all legitimate conflict and desired...

HuDawg
IMO the griefers are not the problem. The person in charge of RD O is.. Hes the REAL griefer. (Wonder if hes the same dumbass in charge of GTA O) Auto aim, Player blips on Radars, Unbalanced Ability Cards, Tonics, Explosive Ammo/Dynamite Arrows when combined with HOSTILE interactions between players is the issue. The game is backwards.. and has been since day one. In terms of pvp, this game is a joke. I don't mind getting killed by players. But even my dog could roll over my controller while sleeping and magically get a kill on a player. Meaning any idiot can kill anyone.. All pvp encounters turn into tonic chugging, ability cards spamming, explosive ammo auto aim fests. And that is R* fault..
redscrew
I have had my fair share of complaints when it comes to other players. I think this all boils down to two things... Players are getting bored and Rockstar didn't manage online properly. I know their aim was to have conflict online and gang wars but not everyone wants to play like that all the time. Like most of the time, I just want to chill and hunt or fish, maybe take out some hideouts. I seldom look to actually interact with other gangs since I mostly play by myself or with one or two other people.
