Yeah, that;'s the one.  The Forest is very similar in some respects but it's about being trapped on an island after a place crash.  .....but you soon discover you're not alone.

I think it can only be downloaded though (digital copy).  Also, I would make sure to watch a couple videos or read some reviews.  ......and make sure there is no requirement to be online while playing. I don't believe there is but I don't want to see you buy it and find out I was wrong.

I had fun with Ark as well but not as much as I did with the Forest.  Everyone is different though.

Hey do you remember the nice days when you could play demos of games? So you didn't have to go through this rigmarole! One of my best experiences was completely finishing the demo of Spyro on my Crash Bandicoot PlayStation game! It's the entire reason I bought a PS3 to play Spyro, had to return it and buy a PS2 because of the PS3 was non retro... I'm telling you every new development turns me off LOL

Ubisoft.   .......but if you were upset by RDR2 being a restrictive open world, might want to think twice about FC5 or at least do your research first.

Personally, I thought it was the worst game in the franchise on several levels but that's not to say that you won't like it.  For me, it was the lacking end-game, atrocious flight controls, forced capture sequences and progress, weapon balance, lack of weapons (several variants of the same guns), weapon stats that make no sense, AI, lack of scalable difficulty with coop (not enough enemies or difficulty), etc., etc.

See, I bought FC5 before I bought RDR2, it was on sale and the ultimate or gold edition or whatever was really cheap, so I grabbed it, I started to play it and it was pretty good.

I had no clue what to do as I hadnt let learned how to play an open world type of game, the version I bought came with 3 dlc's plus fc3, one of the dlcs was a martian thing, and it has these crazy martian weapons, I found out early on I can equip them in my sp game and well, all of a sudden the game was too easy as I could literally melt you into a pile of goo from a few hundred yards away and there is nothing you can do to defend against it lol.

That was fun for a minute but I havent even begun doing missions or understanding the story etc.. so I knew I was going to have go back to basic weapons and grind it out, I think I learned how to fish and I went and found a couple helping hand buddies to do a scout mission on a bridge or something then I bought rdr2 and I havent played another game since, at some point Ill go back to it and see if I can stay interested and finish it, after seeing rdr2 its going to be tough.

I want it to be good, we will see.

I'm currently playing The Division 2 like @BropolloCreed79 but it's all about co-op for me.  Just taking a little break from RDR2 for now but I will be revisiting the game every now and again especially after updates.

It's been everything I've wanted it to be, and so much more.

Do not regret paying for the extras at all.  I'm only about 15 hours in or so, so I've only begun to scratch the surface, but it feels good, man.

I like it.  Played a couple hours last night with a friend and a bit of solo.

I had a blast with Ark until i found out you had to either use cheats to kill the bosses to ascend or play online with a group.  That killed it for me.  I had my level maxed out, a whole herd of dino's, all predator dinos like the t-rex, allo, bary, carno, the bird lookin one with huge claws, and a few more, like 20 some combined i think it was, maybe more,  and we lasted like 3 minutes if that against the broodmother.  Was not a pretty site unless you were cheering for her lol.

My son said they've released more dino's and stuff since i played it last, gotta be almost a year ago, so i'll have to go check it out and see.  I'll look into this Forest game also.  I really dig the survival games.

Forest is the best game I've ever played, you should have answered my very first post with it. I immediately would have shut up !

So I take it you made the purchase?  Glad you like it.  I think it is one of the best of the cheaper titles out there myself.

working on Ark Extinction tonight, not sure how i missed that whole DLC.  I don't see forest in my gamefly options, so it must be online only,  I'll have to check that tonight.

Ark has stayed the way i remember it,  spawn in, run down the beach, get eaten by a raptor lol.   Except for some reason now, in the easy starting point 1 my spawn in point is being hunted by a level 22 sarco.   so not only did the raptor get me right off, when i spawned back in, he was off messing with some other dino, i grabbed my stuff turned around and chomp went the sarco.  spawn in # 3 i swam across the inlet, watched for them to leave my stuff for a while, took like 20 minutes then the sarco got into it with the aggressive brontosaurus looking dino (about half the size though) so i could my stuff.  Then i ran down the coast toward easy starting point 2 and one of them feathered dino's come rushing out of the trees and has me for dinner.

I gave up then lol.  Wonder if i messed with my dino spawns last time i played?  this was nuts.  thinking i'll have to reset defaults before i play Extinction tonight.

  • 4 weeks later...

I got a few games for Christmas, one of which I haven't even played yet. Do the math on that. lol I feel you. I love and hate the situation I am in. Online is "meh" at times but the story just sucked me in. I loved how the game felt playing it, it was aesthetically pleasing, and the storyline was solid. Hard to top this.

So the forest was a great week-long game or so I missed  like  2 trophies that I ridiculous but I'll probably Replay for them LOL and I feel like I'm about to finish Far Cry New Dawn which was a pleasant play through but I don't believe it has replayability pretty solid single player game though plenty of side quests to keep you going I'm about to power through the story Mission probably today. One aspect of Far Cry I do enjoy which is been lost in other games is there is no Max attributes, if you keep collecting stuff and keep grinding you can become a Powerhouse that they can't deal with, while still giving the enemies enough of a boost to not bore you, which I find quite enjoyable

For a while, I couldn't get into other games. I am at a point now where I played RDR2 enough to be satisfied with it and I am playing things I had been putting off. I am able to enjoy them as well. I tried playing a few things back in January and just couldn't get into them.

the really good games do that.  i did the same thing until the epilogue of RDR2, it bored me, so my attention was able to wander to other games.

I spent many more hours in The Forest building fortresses and such.  I purposely stayed away from YT and other sources that would have gave away things like where to find the chainsaw, etc.  It made the game that much more enjoyable when finding such things.

I bought FC5 and couldn't have been more disappointed in a game.  Honestly, the only other game more disappointing to me in recent memory was No Man's Sky.  There were so many things I found wrong about FC5 and the Arcade/editor.  I didn't have high hopes but I didn't expect I would be that turned off by a game.  I found myself rushing through it so I could finish and uninstall it.  Ubi ruined the AC franchise for me after what was a great direction with Black Flag  and now the Far Cry series.

IMO, FC went downhill after FC2 but at least was still playable and enjoyable for what it was.  FC5 was initially exciting but that rapidly faded after seeing some of the AI mechanics, flight controls, weapon balancing, lack of weapon selection, campaign progression / system, lack of endgame content, shallow buddy system, lack of difficulty when playing with a co-op partner, lack of AI (numbers), an Arcade that was nothing like it was pitched (AI were horrible in that), pitiful distance limitations on long range weapons, etc., etc.   .....at least that's most of what I can recall.

Currently playing TD2 and having fun with that although I'm running into bug issues that are not getting resolved which is frustrating.  ......but the game is still fun enough for now at least.

I liked FC5, for what it was it was good.  not as good as FC4, and no where near as fun as FC3 but i didn't mind it.

AC i wasn't sure about Origins, but it turned out to be my favorite game in the series, so far.  I love the open world aspect, and am really enjoying that with Odyssey.  What i didn't really care for in both Origins and Odyssey is the stupid social media part having the world map showing all user photos,  no way to set that to off by default, gets tedious when you log in for each play session and go to your map and have to turn of the idiot photos.  Most players i've seen have no clue how to take a good photo lol  oh look it's a rock on the ground!  I gotta take a picture!

Thing i like about the last 2 AC's is they go farther back into history, to the start of the Assassins, and then the 2nd generation (ish) with Odyssey.

Yeah....  I heard that about the latest ACs but I was so turned off from the series a couple titles after BF that I dumped the franchise and never looked back. They took steps backwards after BF IMO.  Never gave it another chance.

There were just too many things that annoyed me in FC5 to enjoy it. The forced capture sequences, drugged visions, lack of weapon variety, flight controls, AI, etc.  Another step back IMO in several areas.

I did really enjoy GRW from Ubi though especially the coop.  In fact, that game had some of the most fun coop play I've experienced in a long time.  I hope they come out with a GRW2 or another Ghost Recon game with the same tactical playstyle,  damage model with a current time period (nothing "future").

I was like this for a bit but I am moving on. Not quitting the game or anything, just taking a break from the story mode. I did everything I think I could do aside from maybe hunting down things I haven't for my own pleasure. Online gets me in waves. Sometimes I love it, other times I want to just quit after 20 minutes.
