Scrawny Nag showing up in Story Missions?

Every time I start an Online Story mission, I get the Scrawny Nag as my horse rather than any of my other three horses. I can't select to choose any of them off the speciality menu for story missions because they're all greyed out. None of my horses need healing at all, and I can't seem to get it to work properly. Anyone got a fix for it? Been like this for a day now.

Happened three times this weekend. 👎 Anoying running Scrawny Nag to nearest stable before starting your mission!

It's such a pain >.<

 

For anyone having the same problem, I contacted Rockstar and they've said it's an issue they're currently working on, but unfortunately there's no fix for it right now.

I think it is a glitch it happens from time to time. Because it is still a beta unfortunately these things keep happening. It's a pain.

Same things happebs to me. I started a race and went to “Stables” in the lobby before the race started to select my horse and it made it so I could select the specialty for Race and Free Roam when I went back to freeroam. However, when I trued to call my horse it said it was dead and called my backup. Gotta love the beta

I had this happen a few times and I think it is completely random. Has this started more recently for you? It was happening for me now and then before the last update.

I never heard of this happening nor have I personally experienced it. I asked a few mates earlier when I was reading stuff on here if it happened to them and both of them said no. Maybe it is a bug that only effects a small number of people??

I'm not sure to be honest, I know it started after I sold the horse that I had selected for story missions, so its almost like it still thinks it should be that one? I suppose all that can be done is wait and see for the moment.

 

Whatever it is it seems to have glitched it completely, as I logged in yesterday and its still the same.

I am thinking it is a glitch dealing with selling horses. I had the same thing happen to me for a bit but one day it just stopped. I can't tell you what I did or if I even did anything to make it stop but if I can figure it out, I will report back.

If you have the money and the space, buy another cheap horse and sell it back. See if that fixes it. According to my friend it does.

It's now out of Beta form and the issue still exists, I have 2 stalls, discarded the horse that was in first stall and now all I get is the scrawny nag in online story missions. Gonna try to buy a cheap horse to put in that stall to see if that forces my main horse into story missions, if that doesn't work ill do what another suggested and sell the cheapo horsey - I'll let y'all know if either works

Neither idea worked, I'm stuck with the scrawny nag in online missions and to make things worse I wasn't given the option to sell my horse I could only "discard" and while discarding the cheap horse I inadvertently "discarded" a beefed up saddled, smh. I have contacted rockstar support though I'm not expecting much.

That sounds rough mate. May I ask what rank are you? It sounds like a bug. That has been around for a while. It affected me when I was below rank 50 then disappeared When I went above that rank. Damned if I know why. But others seem to be affected by it. Mind you on RS Social club. My online stats tell me my active horse is the Scrawny Nag???.  I'm rank 154 so???

I figured out the answer, you have to go to player menu/stables/specialty/story mission/ then choose your default horse. I guess the initial horse we get in the beginning is set as default but once we get rid of it we have to choose another horse to be the default for each type of mission if we don't we get the scrawny nag

As soon as you get a real horse, discard that nag and your troubles will be over, you dont need it, wont use it again, no sense in keeping it.

I had to go discard all my old saddles and stuff because I am sick of starting a mission and then having a different horse show up with a different saddle, now the game has no choice, whichever of my horses i decides to send me, they always have the Beaver roping saddle.

As soon as I get 18 gold, Ill get the Cougar one, the only difference is the stamina vs health drain rate, they reverse is all, otherwise they have the exact same stats so.. I had cash, I bought the one I could afford for now, and it is amazing.

The same thing has been happening to me since the last update. Never happened before. I just now did a story mission and I got the damn Scrawny Nag. I kept falling behind and couldn't keep up with the other players. I hope Rockstar fixes this soon.

I just had that happen today, actually.  It was for a Stranger Mission.  I played the mission with my main horse and completed it.  It glitched and then said I was starting the mission again.  I had to re-do the mission from scratch and this time the horse I had was the Scrawny Nag.  Never had this happen before BUT when I play the Land of Opportunities missions' my horse turns from mare to stallion and stays that way even after the mission has ended.  It always has a pelt stowed so that is how I know right off that it is not my main horse.  I have to ride to the nearest stable and update my horse to get my mare back.  Weird.  ;  )
