lumper
01.) what level are you currently online? 02.) how long did it take you to get to that level? 03.) what was your strategy to get to that level, did you just play and let the levels come as they did or did you actively work toward leveling up? 04.) what is a typical session like for you now and are you still actively trying to level up or are you satisfied with your level and just playing at this point? I'm curious and I think maybe it will help some new players just getting started to have a litle insight. For example, I am relatively new, 01.) I am level 19 02.) took me 6 or 8 online sessions after the initial introduction of the online game, of a few hours each 03.) My strategy was to hunt/fish mainly to accumulate money for upgrades while leveling up for a while. I wanted to wait to play most of the missions until I have better weapons, horse, and attributes. I worked solely on making money and leveling up with only that in mind, I rarely played any stranger or story missions at all and I took part in the XP bonuses offered for hunting last week. I am actively trying to level up so I can buy a few more things I feel I need to make the most of my player in combat. 04.) A typical session for me is to join, go fishing, max out 10 fish each of 4 or 5 species and then hunt my way to a butcher, now that I have a few other weapons and ability cards, if I am near a hideout Ill clear it, and if your caravan or other missions goes literally right past me, then Ill engage to earn some xp, otherwise I ignore others doing missions. I am looking to rise another 12 or 15 levels, then buy one more item I want, and then I think I will shift my play to joining, and heading straight to story missions and trying all the other missions offered in game. I am almost confident enough to join any mission and feel like I can quickly learn to hold my own, I mostly need fighting experience at this point and only way to get that is to join these events and fight, so... very soon I will be doing just that. I dont know if new players starting this week might find it helpful to understand how others approached the game. A lot has changed so players that are at very high levels may have taken advantage of methods no longer available, but for the most part I think over all this can be a useful resource for a new online player. Ozy8753
147 You can still farm lots of XP killing in thieves landing without getting a wanted level or bounty as long as you kill any witnesses loot all of the bodies by the time you've done that they have all respawned.
Traks1
1) lvl 71 I think. 2) Most days for 3 or 4 hours since launch. 3) Took levels as they came initially then got the hots to have a certain horse and ground out A LOT of missions with randoms until I got her. Don't have the stomach just yet to grind another 20 levels worth of the same missions for the explosive ammo which is my next real goal, so I'll happily hunt and fish until then or R* add some other stuff I'm happy to do I guess. Reyes
01.) Just hit 69 last night. 02.) I honestly don't know. I ended up resetting my character 2 times. The first time I reached level 24 I think and the second time I was in the 30s. 03.) I mostly just do hunting and mess around with my friends. I only just started taking leveling seriously a few weeks ago. 04.) Just messing around. Sometimes I do missions. I like to just roam around and hunt, make up stupid games with friends, things like that. I would have expected myself to hit 100 by now but I am working on it. 1
The_Liquor
1) level 25 2) I’ve been playing online since just before the new year, not every day... 3) No strategy at all. I’m just existing in the RDR2 world and doing things as I feel like doing them. 4) a typical session? I usually start by hunting, especially if I’m low on either funds or meat. I then cook meat and/or visit a butcher. I browse the catalogue and stock up on odds and ends I may be low on (ammo, oat cakes for Red Liquor, gun oil etc..). I’ll then either wander around from stranger mission to stranger mission, killing all the critters in my path and clearing hideouts, or I’ll spend the rest of the session getting my ass kicked in showdown or races. Sometimes I go fishing instead.
nshanny73
1) 73.27 2) played the story mode for the 1st month and got to near the end of chapter 2... been online from day 1... couple hours during week nights and grinding hard on weekends 3) have never actively played to level up... xp and gold seem to come easily... grinding for those $$$ is the hard part 4) spawn... check dailies and do whatever ones are quick and easy... decide lemoyne or new hanover... seek out 1st 3* pelt and carcass while massacring anything that moves or flies and picking herbs... head towards the nearest area with multiple hideout spawns massacring everything along the way and picking herbs... fish for medium sized fish.... sell to the butcher... switch it up with a story, stranger or showdown... go to camp to reload.. rinse and repeat Edited March 24, 2019 by nshanny73

Vaderspupil
1) Level 108 2) Been playing since the first week of launch. 3) I mostly hunt and clear enemy hideouts. I will grind in pvp from time to time, but I keep that limited because pvp causes me to cuss like a sailor. Luckily nobody can hear me since I play in party chat. Just hope my neighbors don't hear me.😊 since the daily challenges started showing up, I've tried to do as many of those as I can each day. I also make sure that when I achieve a gold buckle on an award, I make sure to reset it if possible. 4) now that I'm past level 100, I've unlocked everything. Now it's all about grinding for money to buy everything I've unlocked. I currently have 8 tier 3 ability cards, all of the tent upgrades and fast travel for my camp. I only have a few more pamphlets to buy. My current weapon cache is 2 schofields, 2 sawed offs, a cattleman and a highroller revolver for my sidearms. For longarms, I have a carbine and Lancaster for repeaters, bolt action and Springfield for rifles, Rolling Block and Carcano for sniper rifles and a pump action shotgun and of course my bow. I have small games arrows, poison arrows, fire arrows, dynamite arrows, poison throwing knives, fire bottles, volatile dynamite, explosive slugs and explosive express ammo.
Darkvicar
49. Finished story mode new years day. Then started online. Generally play when I'm in hotels on business, weekends at home with brother and nephews. If I'm solo, I log Rio bravo and stay in camp shooting 100 or so birds. Use split ammunition which I then replace 50 a time with regular ammo which craft into split again. It ticks all the boxes crafting achievement, birds killed in flight, animal parts sold. Gather herbs an hunt while waiting for birds to fly over. Do the hideouts. Couple of mission then sell at tumbleweed. Then spawn in Grizzlies for sock eye salmon, herbs and hunting. Hideouts. Then spawn lemoyne for gators , herons etc and area herbs. St Dennis to butcher and doctor to sell herbs. Reset all achievements immediately. Couple of pvp team matches, then bed! 3 grand in bank level 2 never without one card. 2 horses with insurance. 40 odd gold, some tent upgrades. All the guns I ca have at lvl 49.
Moosh89
I'm currently level 31, on my second character since my first one was ugly. She was level 11 when I deleted her. I started this one around November 30th, and I play a few times a week for 3 hours or so each time. I was gunning for level 23 to get the Hungarian Halfbred, but due to my Ultimate Edition horses I needed to save up $630 to afford it and a new stall. I finally just got it last night before I logged off at level 31 hahaha. I have about 40 gold bars currently. I prefer hunting, doing jewelry runs, and picking herbs. Once in awhile I will pick up a stranger mission if nobody appears close by. I clear hideouts as I notice them. Sometimes I do PvP if a daily requires it.

Renascent
Rank 167 or something. Played since two weeks after online launch. At first I only wanted rank 58 so I can get my foxtrotter horse. Didn't care after that but I still was hitting about 3-6 ranks per day (about 5-8 hours of playtime per day). Then I wanted dynamite arrows after a former friend screwed me over with them so I can exact my revenge upon him, and oohhhh how sweet it was. Totally worth the grind. So after 93 I stopped caring, cuz at that point ranks don't matter anymore. Strategy was running with a full posse and waiting out missions until the last 10-30s and hunting/gathering/screwing around during the wait. Hideouts whenever possible. Resetting achievements. Then we would do story missions and hold it for 30mins for that sweet $50 and 1098 exp (and then some depending on whether you afk'd or went hunting during the wait time). Typical session is either an all out warzone or pretty peaceful, seems 50/50 these days. Been running into more people that aren't sore losers and it's been pretty nice for a change. Half the time I'm solo and it's still pretty weird for me to be able to run by someone and them not instantly start shooting at me, but me being a paranoid freak will always be ready to blast someone into next week if they wanna try something. I feel the colored blips do help to an extent, people are less on edge. But that's just my experience with it. No I'm not actively still trying to rank but I still manage a rank or two a day despite that. I mostly play because I do enjoy the online portion and I enjoy playing with my friends. Dissention
Lvl 81, going on 82 Playing 2-4 hrs daily at launch, grinding on weekends but kind of really slowing down now* I switch back between caring for XP and not. most days I just like to hunt and fish, if I'm close to a map or something I push harder. What is my end goal. IDK. grinding for a couple more tier 3 passives, maybe some more pamphlets (incendiary buckshot and explosive slugs @84 seems exciting) but everything new I buy is kinda of a let down. All the good stuff is around 90 to 100. *This game been in beta so long and I honestly question how much new content they can add. Just so much hunting you can do and how many times I going to deliver a wagon for $10 or less. Mail delivery is lame, I prefer to be shot at this point because it crashes half the time… ... last night was griefer night. Big high level posse cut me to shreds for about ½ hr, did okay in a couple showdown, then Won a free room. Then every low level guys took potshots at me for an hour and they all parlayed away and “reported me to R* for kicking their griefing butts. I don't know, moral of this paragraph is it was a nice change of pace and I'd rather be cut to shreds (and learn from my mistakes) then have to deal with the child like behavior I see in this game…stealing pelts, shooting in the back, cheating. In a way all these MMO and MMORPG are the same now. Needs lots of content update and I'm OCD with persistent bugs that drive me nuts. Honestly it's a love/hate relationship with this game. Something better comes along (marvel for PS4 and switch I'm waiting for) I might bail. They need to do/add something to keep me interested.
G IR U IB
Mid 30s about 36 I think. Been playing since between Christmas and new year. Only on weekends. Mainly stranger missions. Fishing. I'll say hunting but it's more see something and blast away. So more often than not its a poor pelt. I play my way and enjoy it lol
D3x
My friend talked me into resetting to fix my character's looks so I am only at 29 I think. I was at 37 before. I don't want to reset ever again. I feel like it was harder to level this time than it was the first time. Like I played more to get to 29 than I did before to get to 37.
