In game diet and exercise results

So, long story short,

My guy is over weight, I made him that way on purpose.

BUT, I didnt realize that I would then have a built in penalty for the entire game, of a -125% core drain rate.

I asked R* about this, and they actually said the following.

" Related to your characters weight you will need to have the character run around in the game an stay away from sweets and biscuits to promote weight loss. Character adjustments such as this a re by game design."

So,

Off I go to hit the gym, literally in game.

I am going to take a before pic with no shirt as well as in a few outfits that currently glitch out and then I am going to use in game time to diet and run everywhere, if you see a long haired fat old man jogging, thats probably me, heading from Annesburg to Blackwater for a fat free yogurt or some nonsense.

I dont feed my character in game unless he is about to fight and then I only use biog game meat with thyme usually or plain bog game to refresh cores, I never feed him other stuff.

So I dont have much faith this will work, but I have nothing to lose so I am goign to try and record the results.

Ill get some pics later and add them to this post, it will be a diet/exercise thread to post results, before and afters.

Im sure I am not the only person to have made a chubby character so this may prove useful to someone else later on.

I really think they could add a warning to the game when you are building your character to avoid the penalty though.

system is completely broken, good luck though.

I think eating pure Big Game Meat makes you fat, i think canned food is good though.. like i said broken system (arguably pointless) so idk

Thats exactly what I am going to find out and demonstrate one way or the other.

They said stay away from snacks and biscuits specifically  so I will do that

Ill eat kidney beans and stuff like that.

See if I can show that it doesnt work, or it does one way or the other.

Its broken after the last update. You can run across the map without any result and this is a known bug at rs so strange they gave you that info. Those support guys should get their sh*t together seriously.... The last couple of replies i got is embarrasing coming from one of the Worlds largest gaming company, they dont even answer my questions just the copy paste reply over and over

The last update seemed to have taken people from an underweight issue to an overweight issue. I was having this problem too. No amount of running around helped. I had to starve me dude to get his weight back down and even then, I have to do it now and then when he puts on weight. It is insane what they did.

Ahh that sucks, but thanks for letting me know.

I had two issues, I made my guy overweight not knowing it would result in a -125% core drain rate, all the time.

If I knew that I would never have made him that way.

The other thing is there is a glitch with certain jackets and vests that look all screwed up because of his shape.

I was less annoyed with that than I was about the core drain rate penalty, that just sucks, but if I cant fix it by forcing him to lose weight then, wtf im going to be stuck with this penalty permanently.

Don't eat, let your health core become red sometimes. If you need to fill cores, go to camp, rest at fire. Or if need deadeye, drink bourbon. I've done that and I'm back down to max underweight and generally stay between -6 and -7.5%.

Never bothered eating much either way because you're gonna die to a headshot or explosives in a split second anyway. It sucks right now that you really can't even eat if you don't want to be overweight. I only eat enough to not be max underweight as it has the same core drain as being max overweight.

My Guy is skinny thin but in the player stat's page it alway's say's he's overweight. -7.5% stamina -7.5% damage taken. R* really need to get this game sorted, there's so many issue's need addressing. 8 year's in development should have been enough time to get thing's right.

Hah ! Was thinking about this y-day while playing. How can i get my weight back down. This 125% core drain starting to piss me off.

Since y day i stopped eating. No meat, no canned food what so ever. Ill only smoke cigars and drink alcohol (Lol B|) like Renascent said. When ill need my cores 100% ill just sit down and relax a bit by the fire.      We will see where it gets me and how long will it take.

The whole weight gain/loss thing is broken. They need to fix it.

Add to that drain being cold, today I was in Colter with what was supposed to a winter coat, and I was cold, my drain rate was -900% lol

I could see it drain, it was unreal, I ate a can of kidney beans and then peas and nearly filled it, within 3 minutes it was about empty again, I had to get to warmer climates fast.

Anyway I will try the camp to refill cores, I do let them run out, all the way, only bars left, but I am usually out hunting or something away from camp, Ill adjust it so I can use camp everytime I need to re charge, it did charge real quick today the one time I used the camp to rest.

You need more than JUST a winter coat to stay warm. Knit gloves, double breasted  vest, sweater, padded jeans. Just like real life, layer up. Same goes for the heat in tumbleweed.

Here's what I use for a winter outfit that's actually rated for cold weather when you look at the outfit as a whole in your wardrobe. I have a sheepskin coat, wool shirt, buckskin vest, buckskin pants, moccasin boots and cutter hat. I always put this outfit on when I'm up in the mountains.

Thanks.

Ill put something together.

Ive never bought an "outifit" but I have bought a lot of clothing items, so I am sure I can piece together a cold weather outfit.

Yeah, mine isn't an outfit that I bought as one. It's separate articles of clothing that I pieced together and created a custom outfit with.

Okay so after day 2 of my "diet"

Conclusion is still that the system is bugged. I havent eaten anything for the 2nd day. I started y day by doing daily's, hunted a bit then i went on a quick mission and when i was spawned back to free roam guess what .... i gained weight. LOL.

After that i went on about 20 pvp matches and finally when i was spawned back to free roam i saw the weight icon with an arrow pointing down.

Im curious how long will it take to starve myself back to normal weight.

It takes a few days, yeah. I remember by the third day I was out of the overweight status and just average. Takes about a week to be completely max underweight. Once there you can easily maintain staying within 3-7.5% underweight. Trying to have perfect weight is hard to do as the window for it is pretty small.

But yeah just keep your health core red, don't eat anything. And you'll go down. Worked for me and I haven't gone over 5% underweight since.

This does work ! Just a tip but going in to the new PvP mode should take a couple pounds off ! Lol run ,run , and run some more ! Didn't think much of the new mode as all you'll do is run !

So I took the advice of a few people in here and I made a good cold weather outfit for one, and I decided to not eat just use camp to replenish my cores.

It seems to have worked.

At least for yesterday, for a long time I had no drain at all, My "player" tab said overweight but not cold and no drain, later the drain was -7.5%  which is a huge improvement from 125% or 900% that I had the day before.

So I will keep this up, use camp, eat very little if at all, I keep big game meat with thyme for just before a fight or confrontation but I try not to use it.

I was able to grind last night and made $500 and went up 1.5 levels without the huge core drains.

So although running around wont help, not eating and using camp seems like it might.

R* has gotten a hold of me to tell me they are aware of both my concerns and asked me to look up my build number and let them know.

Hopefully they fix it, but for now, this will work.

Thanks

This thread made me conscious about my own weight so I had to check it in the stats - sure enough after all those big game burgers I was classified overweight. 😧But hang on a minute, as a fatty I appear to have a slight health boost - why would I not want that?

Now, where's Cartman with that Weight Gain 4000?

Your cores drain 25% faster but i personally want that 7.5% dmg reduction so imo its better to be fat. My caracter always looks skinny probably because i chose trained/fit as bodytype so i dont have an issue

I thought there was probably a faster drain rate associated but like you say, the damage reduction has got to be worth it. I'll keep chowing down those big game delights...

For me my play style is to be fast and mobile. The weight slowed me down too much, sure I could take more bullets. But don't need a fat cushion if I just do better. Not saying for everyone to git gud, but that's how I hold myself.

over weight boosts your health strains your stamina and under weight is the opposite.

So I wanted to update this.

My character is still classified as over weight, but now the drain rate is 4%, so.... much better.

Also, regarding a few of the coats that glitch out on a heavy shaped character, they said this.

"you are facing issue with Red Dead Online where your clothes are not fitting properly. we would like to inform you that we are working on a fix to the issue as we speak and we personally request you to stay tuned to our newswire for future updates in this regards, https://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/ "

Which I was excited to hear.

hopefully they will figure it out, they went on to say,

"we want to underline that Red Dead Online currently constitutes a Beta. As it is not the definitive version of the game's online modality, Meanwhile, we kindly request you to check the latest updates coming for the Beta version of the game and also there is a feedback link, where you can drop down your feedback and suggestions as well, which we would like to see from all the players to make it a better platform for players to play : "

Pretty much what I was saying before in another thread, it is easy to forget it is a beta, and this company went way over budget and time bringing us the SP experience which I think everyone can agree was incredible, so I often remind myself of this fact and think, just be patient, give them all the time they need to get it right and then let's see what we have to complain about, if anything.

My character looks to be in decent shape but the stats tell me otherwise. I guess he is overweight even though it isn't showing it or he isn't overweight and for some reason, he is being registered as such. I gave up trying to figure this out but more power to you for sticking it out for the rest of us and getting to the bottom of this.
