Breaking/stopping skinning animation

James Hickok_1837

Question

Is there any way to stop skinning an animal ?

I get frustrated when im skinning a deer and it takes forever and while im doing it a flock of pelicans fly overhead and i cant shoot them. After im done skinning they usually gone (despawned) or above deep water and such.

Also situations like players comming to me to shoot me while im skinning.

Same here the horse trick does work but then you end up fighting skinning the animal and remounting your horse which gets annoying. Hit the skin button and you remount. I also have had birds fly over and get irritated hundreds of times. Now I delay before I skin which does no good but I tried anyway.

If you park your horse over the animal the animation gets cut. This makes it a bit faster to skin. I do this to avoid getting head shot as easy when roaming by myself.

Wasn't this a way to speed things up in the last game too? I remember people doing this in the last one but I can't remember why.

Yep, used to do this loads in RDR, especially when hunting bears or cougars as they would spawn again as soon as you killed one. Don't do it in this game because of the danger of your horse trampling the animal and reducing it to 1*. Sometimes get no skinning animation if lucky enough to kill the animal in bushes or on a steep slope.

Could also do with animation speed-up on putting away fishing rod and stowing animals on the horse.
