RDR2 Cut Content according to a developer

I don't get why this is so hyped, they always cut content to make the story/game flow better.  Every game producer does this, not like it's a big sudden discovery it's being done.

Can't recall which game it was off hand, but there was one i played years and years ago on pc that updated the cut content so it would play with the released game and sold it as expansion packs.  I thought that was kinda cool back then.

Now, and after looking at what was supposedly cut i'm glad they cut a bunch of it, some of those sound more like the author's made up fantasies he wishes was in the game :P

What Kormath said.....

In addition, I don't know why some are so quick to believe what they read on Reddit, etc. from unknown or unverified sources.  It's like Facebook.  .....people believe everything that gets posted on there and share it without thinking twice.  No one ever thinks to verify the source and a lot of that crap turns out to be a troll, a scam, etc.  They see someone say "make sure to share this" and they do.  .....reminds me of the old chain letters in emails that were a big fad for a while.

.....no offense intended to the OP.

Yeah, some of the stuff on that list takes the realism aspect too far in a game that some argue is already too realistic, though that's a debate for another topic.

I find it funny that he acknowledges using the Volcanic pistol even though it's rare, but mentions the Springfield M1903, FN-Browning 1903 (I'm assuming he means the same "Hi-Power Pistol" from RDR1 and not the Browning Hi-Power, which would be an even more hideous anachronism), and Luger P08 having been planned in a previous entry. I'm not totally up to square on the development of the FN-Browning off the top of my head, but the Springfield wasn't even prototyped until 1900, the year after the Arthur's portion of the game is set. The Luger was designed in 1898, but I don't think it would have been easily attainable in 1899 even if it was commercially available by that time. Or maybe Arthur had access to the same time machine that the MACV-SOG troops in CoD: Black Ops had which allowed them to get guns that didn't exist yet, I don't know.

Still, it would have been funny to see Miss Grimshaw knock Karen out, though. 🤣

5. Arthur was originally supposed to be bisexual and you could pursue a sort of tragic romance with Charles, whom was originally supposed to admit to being gay if you got close to him. It was only after you learned about the TB so Arthur was okay admitting his attraction to other men because he knew he was going to die anyways. but he'd write in his diary about being sexually confused throughout the game. That got removed because you can only get gay stereotypes into the mainstream media.

Is he a PS4 or Xbox guy?

Sad part is you guys can knock the rumors.  Though they may not all be true, some of them prove to be true.   There are just some things Rockstar doesn't want you to know, so they just don't say.  Not a fan of reddit, but there are people on there that seem to find things that companies don't want you to know.  It also doesn't mean finding out will change the end results.  It just creates more what ifs.

Let's assume for a moment that it is real and ask ourselves why would Rockstar be actively trying to silence the post? They've been fairly open about content cut from games in the past (the GTA Wiki has pages devoted to content cut from those games), so why be so secretive all of a sudden? Nothing on that list could be as scandalous as, say, GTA: SA's Hot Coffee mini game. Even a story arc of Arthur being bisexual (probably the most outlandish thing on the list) would probably get Rockstar a few pats on the back from social justice groups that harp about that kind of thing. Nothing here is really what one could consider foundation shaking. If anything, it just shows that Rockstar was far more ambitious in RDR2's development than anyone thought.

So the poster's notion that Rockstar is trying to keep him quiet is, IMO, absurd because nothing here actually makes them look bad. That, in turn, kind of hurts the poster's credibility.

The poster needs some type of proof of past employment or current employment with R* to be credible. Anyone could of wrote that to make it seem legit as possible and to start chaos within the community. The poster needs proof of current or past employment of some sort, or that post is dead to me.

I remember reading about a romance between Arthur and Sadie Adler that was cut. About 80gb worth, sounds like a possible DLC.

The Arthur/Sadie romance been suspected, but never actually confirmed. Most suspect it based on things like Arthur showing concern over Sadie smoking, something he doesn't do with Karen, Mary-Beth, or any of the other female members of the gang.

I wouldn't hold my breath for any cut content serving as DLC, though. Especially story-based DLC, especially. I don't believe RDR2 will ever get a story DLC like RDR and GTA IV did, simply due to Rockstar having been bitten by the online bug beginning with GTA V.

Is it just me, or did a TON of this stuff pan out over the past year?

....it's just you.  ;)

Seriously though, I haven't bothered (or had a desire) to revisit that link again since I first did almost a year.  IME, you throw enough darts, you're bound to hit the board at some point. .....perhaps more.   Everyone remembers all the times they won in Vegas but not necessarily all their losses.

Maybe I'll go visit it again but IIRC, that discussion was mostly about things they left out of the story which has remained relatively unchanged since release.

I dunno.  Flammable moonshine,  camp stews,  etc.

the stuff about cut missions and the prologue plot have since been proven by code hunters and glitches, the prologue was rewritten.    Separately, the thing about Bill at Fort Mercer is true.   After you clear that hideout in the prologue there’s unique machine guns.

Regarding the prologue and rewrites: just saying at the time this was written, rockstar hadn’t given a clue to any of these things and glitches hadn’t found them.
