PVPNOOB
So after trying to find a way to rank up, I found it - collecter, all I can say is OMG, and heaps or cash too, the only downfall is no gold. My question is, what keeps you guys grinding and or playing? Please don't get me wrong but do you ever feel like you are grinding for like nothing and not really seeing the end game? It kind of feels like I am not playing a game these days and am working a job lol. I will soon have every single ability card maxed out, then I can have all weapons, get all the pamphlets. I find myself asking and having this negativity that one day all this money I earn in the game will forever sit there (when the game reaches its end life span for example like how nobody plays GTA4 Online to this date) I see the future and looking back and thinking "why did I bother earning all that money and for what?" Honestlt don't mean to sound negative but just wondering if any of you get these thoughts? OCD is definitely at play, it is just facts and sad that one day (a very long time from now atleast) nobody will play anymore, for example if a Red Dead 3 comes out, then all that grinding was for? Sorry I can be weird I just wonder if anyone else sees what I think lol Still have not bothered trying to get better at showdowns, I have an excuse not to play them now as collector smashes them in terms of money and XP now?
Kean_1
Well, there is typically no intended "end game" in these types of titles. It's all about content to help keep them thriving. A lot of people hate MTXs but without them, the games would not exist past a certain point. .......but that's never a sure thing either because without good, continual content to maintain an attractive product, players won't stick around. In R* games like GTAO and especially RDO, they are supposed to be environments where players interact and continue to develop / grow their characters. GTAO has been running for 6 years now is one of the most (if not the most) successful GaaS model in the industry. There are no signs of it ending anytime soon so obviously, people still feel attracted to the game and what it continues to offer. In a recent interview with R*, they discussed the future of RDO and it's content. We can look forward to expansion of the existing roles including new ones. As for what to spend your money on, they are looking at introducing things like properties, businesses, etc. Heists are good possibilities as well. I can see a lot of these things intermingling but also as brand new seperate opportunities. There is no "end game" in RDO. People play because they enjoy the gameplay experience. As long as folks have a reason to stick with or keep coming back to RDO, they will. R* is clever in that respect as they typically offer new incentives to people in the form of weekly bonuses, daily challenges, etc. .....and with the new roles, we are now seeing weekly bounties, collectables, etc. ....a page from the GTAO playbook. ....and remember, new content is always added so the gameworld simply keeps expanding. RDO will be very different in a year than it is right now. It will feel much more robust as it does now by comparison to when it released.

Well, I have a daily system, no matter what, and to skip to the end and answer your question. The future for rdr2 holds many promising things. We are told, possibly properties, other businesses, vehicles, new horses and weapons, etc.. So you will go through the progression and when you get to the point where you have everything you currently want that is available, you start saving,s so when the "Winter update" or whatever the next big update is that comes, you will be ready to dive straight in. When this update hit, I had $11000.00 and around 300 gold bars, I was very happy to buy everything that came out and enjoy the new stuff while running my new businesses. Now, here is what I do to keep from getting bored. I am level 240 something, I have around $7000.00, 50 gld bars or a few less after today, ( I bought a bunch ore stuff I didnt need). Everyday I have a system. I start by checking my daily challenges as these pay gold. Then as I am doing them, I also feed Cripps to run my camp, and of course some of the challenges are usually doing sales missions, and re supply missions, plus feeding him carcasses, pelts, etc.. so I do that too, I also collect the whole time, no matter what else I am doing, then after I am nearly done, I make sure to get the ones that are daily challenges, the collections I mean, Ill get whatever they are asking for. Now as soon as I am done with my daily challenges, I then first check on Cripps, give him whatever he needs, then as long a the bounties are done, and all other challenges I am going to do that day, then all that is left is to open my satchel and see what my collections are looking like. If I see any collection with 3 or less items missing, say 7 out of 10, or 6 of 9, etc.. Then I make a list of the items I need and I spend some time and go get those items, so I can then go see Madam Nazar and sell anywhere from 4 to all of the collections. That way, as they build up I sell them off and make a good amount of money everyday, or sometimes Ill skip a day so every other day. at least 3 or 4 times a week Ill go sell 4 to all of the collections and make thousands of dollars each time I see her. So, thats what I do. I am excited to see what comes next, after reading the recent article from R* about how they want every player to feel the progression and SLOWLY make their way from poor to wealthy I am very confident that once you own everything you want, and dont really have anything new to do or buy, you just start racking up gold and cash for the next update. Usually twice a month we will get new stuff via our weekly updates on Tuesdays, it isnt a hard and fast rule, but it often works out that way, I like being on top of that stuff. There is nothing in game currently that I dont own or want. But those daily challenges and the promise of gold keeps me playing everyday. Usually Ill come on and 4 to 6 hours will fly by because I am checking items off a list as I outlined above, it feels like a system so I just follow the plan to stay in the game, then I get surprises, like dynamic events, unexpected finds, etc. Today while getting my "pigs" at Flat... station, I found 2 donkeys, I grabbed one and put my mic on and was laughing, a few people around me that were doing their own thing noticed, I called them out and said, "Hey check this out" and I rode circles around them to show them how funny it looks, then I hopped off one and grabbed the other, well me and a random player had about 10 minutes of fun goofing around riding donkeys, it was really funny, I made a short video even. that was just today, some days many things like that happen, and other days not so much, but all in all, it keeps me coming back everyday, not worrying at all about tomorrow, I know if I keep working my plan, I will be ready for anything that comes next. Thats just me, IMO it is fun to have a strategy and work a plan. Edited October 10, 2019 by lumper

I play this mainly to chill with my real life friends. That is the biggest reason I really play any online game. I personally grind because I will pick up a new game in the next few weeks and want to have at least $20k before I do. If you enjoy something, it isn't really a grind. I enjoy most of what this game offers outside of Collector. The way the game is throwing money and gold at you , leads me to believe next update will be pricey. Reason alone to grind.
SimonTemplar
Much like what the others have said, but I see the game really as giving me an environment to have fun in, rather than a game with an end result. I have spent the past two years playing Elite Dangerous, and there's the same thing going on there. I have billions of credits, all the ships and kit I could want, but I love just heading out exploring in my ship. I came to RDR at Christmas (thanks, kids!), and tried online for the first time six weeks ago. I'm now level 49, high level in all three careers, have a few horses and most of the weapons and am loving it. Not because I am nearing the end, but because I love being a cowboy! I set small goals - at one point I really wanted a pair of custom Schofields, then it was a scoped Springfield rifle, then a camp upgrade or a particular horse, but basically I don't need any of that I'lll engage in and love any new career they bring out, but I don't need it - I just love tooling around and having those odd encounters with other players. So I'm here for keeps, just for what it is.

In GTAO, I knew a gent, that him and his crew, used to play that game to death and one point he stated he would never have to worry about money in the game. Every new thing he to buy right a way while others would have to farm forever to gain enough to buy new stuff. I would expect RDO, will follow the same path. I would figure that the new stuff won't be quite as crazy. Players will just be given new reasons to farm and gain money. Some will just have the money and never have to worry about it. DNMNetTech
With so much the game has to offer I don't feel the end is near. The game just came out of beta a few months ago. I spend a lot of time running around doing dailies, hunting, treasure hunting, bounty hunting, getting slaughtered in pvp, and helping others level their roles and characters. I always have someone I am playing with usually my wife, that also loves RDR2, so there is also that. I used to be in a posse that was great to run around with on a daily basis. We did everything the game had to offer and I learned a lot of things from them. I now use that information to help others I run across. I don't feel or consider this a grind. It is more of cheap daily entertainment. Since i'm not much into watching tv for entertainment, this fills the time most people watch movies and tv programs. Then there is the immersive scenery to roam and enjoy. The other day I found a tree house. Really, who would have thought. A few days ago I found a baby horse and rode around for a while on it. I wan't one of those.

Welcome and glad to see new people enjoying the pve. I got the game around XMas last year too but didnt try the online until March 14th, so nearly three months later, and I only tried it after I was done with my 3rd full 100% play through, well I am at 97.5% really if Im being honest, but I did and saw everything you can do in game and lots more before I decided ok, Ill begrudgingly try the online but I dont expect it to be any good. Boy was I wrong! then it was still in Beta, I played the Beta and leveled up til I hit 100, I think we were still in Beta when I hit it, cant remember. Beta was the worst! griefers every day no matter what you did or where you did it, it was nearly unplayable for a while there for me. But now Im level 243 and I feel like that early stuff was the grind, trying to get the horses and ammo type, etc.. but once you get to 100 it becomes about daily challenges, hoarding gold for the next big update, completing other game awards etc.. Lots to do and more coming, I love this game, it is unlike any game I have ever played as far as online goes, some days I will play for many hours and never shoot another real person's character, as you woudl in COD or other shooters. I just started a second profile and I am at level 11 and it is a completely different experience to play the game today than it was from March til early June when the first big update came out and introduced passive mode, back then just surviving a few minutes was a real goal, now I almost never find any problems with other players, I mean yeah it happens, but maybe once a week now as opposed to every 15 minutes before.

Lovely, and thank you for the welcome! I hit level 50 last night - felt like quite a milestone. That obviously gave me a treasure map, which brought me to three, so I spent some time finding those three treasure chests, happened upon Madam Nazar in the margins so sold some duplicate discoveries to her, that hour brought me over $500 profit, so I bought a shovel (!) (which I hopes comes in useful as it was pricey!) and still had $200 in cash and Cripps is telling me that we're ready to do a run, which will be another $150. So while I'm far from rich, I'm already at the point where I don't have money worries, and can see a point where I will be wealthy, so I am properly past the part of the game which some seem to consider 'grindy' (although I never have, personally). If I have a quiet moment I tend to just look for stuff I haven't done or completed in the Progress screen, do some work towards a buckle or something. But personally I think that the game is amazing. Just amazing. Did have three griefers in under an hour, though, last night - Annesburg seems worse than elsewhere for them, in my view. I ran them off but it was more than I have had before. All part of life as a cowboy, I guess.

Unlike some of the purchases in the other roles, the shovel and metal detector are must haves and they pay for themselves in no time. You need both for coins and certain other valuables and the shovel alone for all the dig spots dotted around the map.

James Hickok_1837
I mostly grind gold bars by making the most dailys i can everyday. Having a lot of GB pleases me the most. I 've grinded all ability cards first bcoz "skills" in online games are most important to me. Atm sometimes i feel like there are nothing left to grind for - no goal but the game is pleasing and fun to play. I hope they will implement something new soon and its going to be more difficult. The roles are to easy to complete imo. Items are underpriced. We finished an update we waited for months in 3 weeks. I use the collector role only if the item is on my path from one place to another. Ive stopped searching for them when i got lvl 20 collector. I recently realised that the collector role can be used to powerlevel you character if you up for searching for missing items for collections from internet locatons and gathering them. To me its too boring so ill pass on that. The exp from selling the sets is insane. So yeah i will grind more GB's by doing dailys. go for some showdowns and when im done change to SP to comlete achevements there. The problem is not with the game but with me. This game is designed for max 2 hours of playtime a day (all new games are) and i play it sometimes for 8 hours. Its not a MMO and i would like it to be so i destroy the game in a short period of time thus making it feel boring etc...... I really would like the grind for levels and money harder. a lot harder. Well said. I feel the same. I pop in daily to run a wagon in/re stock camp and maybe knock out a few easy dailies. May stick around to help out a few low levels I roll with if they ask . My friend started a second character , so I have been helping him level that. Funny thing is I found myself going back to GTA because there is so much to do over there unlike here. Several of my friends are doing the same. We will all take turns running our wagons in, hunt for a bit than bounce over to GTA to work on our businesses. I think this is also good because I don't want too get burnt on one game. I hope it changes but I definitely understand where you are coming from. The 3 roles should have been more layered and complex. I hope future updates have more complex and difficult content. Right now I have to make the 5* Legendary challenging by doing things like only using a bow and turning auto aim off. Funny thing is that a lot of players are bored. So what do they do now? Go mess with other people . So I don't see a "griefing" problem, I see a lack of content problem. The first few weeks after update was real quiet. But I have noticed in the past week, activity has picked up a lot. Like people camping the Legendary Bounty drop off spawn to troll players. Don't get me wrong, I have fun chasing these scrubs off the server but it is a lame tactic they are using. Do you happen to have any idea how to use the binoculars you can buy from Madame Nazar? I bought them on a whim and thinking about it, they seem to need RedEye while looking through them. Do you just stop and randomly scan for things? I had a quick go and am stumped. Sorry to use you as a one-stop shop for all things Nazar.
CosmoKramer
The roles were too easy to max out and the Outlaw Pass was just a joke in terms of progression - to not have completed that yet even without the bonuses R* have been dropping you'd surely have to be playing no more than an hour a week. There will be more to come though and I like that the game hasn't become too complex too quickly (and lets face it, R* took forever even getting heists into GTAO, let alone all the business add-ons). I can't get on with GTA these days - I dropped it after heists for a long time and the complexity of all the businesses now seems overly involved and not really fun. I've dabbled with a few of them but it always seems to be a tangled mess of you need this property first to do this business (costing several million bucks), then you need certain vehicles (again, millions of $) and then you need to constantly do repetitive missions to keep it earning. There are too many of them and everything is ridiculously expensive, requiring a lot of grinding. There was a time I owned everything in the game, now I have $3m and can barely afford any one new purchase. Maybe I just left the game for too long. When I log back in to activate a bonus or earn something for RDO I just like blowing sh*t up and evading the law in a massive car chase. Pure, original, unadulterated GTA fun. Savage_Reaper nailed the problem - there will always be players that play so much they run out of content and out of boredom set out to ruin the fun for others. But you can never satisfy these people - GTAO is a perfect example - loads to do but still people just fly around on their oppressors griefing others for kicks. I'm a relatively new player, so haven't seen a real cycle, yet, how the game flows. I had noticed this week that I have been griefed more in the past week than I have in my total previous six weeks or so playing the game. Players have been waiting when I drop off deliveries for Cripps, so I have to fight both players and bandits all at once, and have also been staking out the legendary bounty spawn locations. Have also had some waiting outside my Camp ready to tackle me when I return. I hadn't thought that it might be experienced players who had completed the new content and are now getting back to messing with us newbs! Made me think I need a posse, but I can't afford $200 each time! Is this a common thing in RDR? Personally, I haven't found the roles too easy (I'm 12, 12 and 20 in Trader, but I play a lot), but can absolutely see where you are coming from. I have yet to complete a set for Nazar but the three professions have really accelerated my ranking up, anyway - I'm level 53 but still feel like a novice. I do enjoy the free roam events linked to the professions, though - particularly Salvage and the one where you defend a train. Although another player usually shoots me dead as soon as they're over - it's a Mexican standoff each time at the end now lol.

I don't know why R* thought it was a good idea to gift players with explosive bullets and what not. You don't HAVE to run in a posse. I only run with friends now when I do posse up. It can be cool if you find people on the same vibe as you , otherwise you may not like it. Just my 2 cents. And if you sell a set to the hippie chic, you will have plenty of loot to buy a posse. People will always mess with people in an open world game. It comes with the territory. It isn't the end of days or anything . As a solo player you just have to play a little bit smarter. When I run solo I like to make camps in places like Gaptooth Ridge, Coulter/Grizzles, Roanoke Ridge. They tend to be pretty clear of a lot of dip sh!ts. NEVER set up camp in the area of the Legendary Bounty drop off. I had a Lvl 38 attempt to kill me when I came out of Salvage before. I introduced him and his horse to Mr. Dynamite Arrow. He parlayed me than left the server. You might have people mess with you from time to time.....but nothing crazy. Like I said activity has picked up in the past week. I anticipated this because it has been way to quiet. I was doing a long delivery solo ($625 trader wagon) and a lvl 21 tried his best to kill me the whole way. Bless his heart. But that is only the 2nd time since the Summer Update this has happened. Sadly because it makes that long run more fun. At least for me. I don't know about other players, but the game keeps putting me in private lobbies 80% of the time I do a run. But have fun man and do activities you enjoy. Ranking up is a lot faster now than when I was a lvl 53. Good luck to you man and maybe you can find a buddy or two to run with. I personally can't stand the Collector role HOWEVER.........as a solo player it can be a good way for you to fly under the radar and level up/get $$$ super easy. IMO. Thank you and yes that's interesting advice ref. where best to set up camp. I basically now don't dare do long range deliveries on my own as I have twice lost out to posses. I have the medium delivery wagon and am pulling $150 per local delivery so it is okay, I can make sufficient bank to keep things ticking along while I wait to gather a collector set. The top line horses are a way off though! I was down in Lemoyne after a collectible last night, about to head out to one of the near islands (my horse can swim it, phew) and a Level 8 came and stood right by me, then jumped on my horse behind me. I got off, he rides off. Then came back on his own horse (I whistled my horse back) and lasso'd me out of the blue. Even I have kung fu sufficient for a level 8 so had to introduce him to Captain & Tenille, my twin pearl-handled Schofields. But he didn't parley and basically stalked me for a good while, even followed me out to the island. It was like something out of Duel, although was quite fun (given I had the upper hand). A Level 162 did the same over the weekend, outside Valentine, he had a posse, too, so I had to high tail it down to Cholla Springs to get some space, they turned up there 15 minutes later, seemed to be looking for me. Again, I hadn't done anything (I have never drawn first, and tip my hat to all and sundry). Another guy messaged me and said that he liked shooting posh people (my character wears a sharp suit, don't think he was forming an actual character judgement as we hadn't spoken beyond a hat tip!) It's like the Wild West out there..! But all that was in the past week, plus some others, and I hadn't had an issue in a fortnight or so before this cluster. lumper
The roles were very easy, however this is part 1, this was the first step to getting wealthy in the game, R* said in the interview they want every player to feel the progression, so you start with these roles, then later we will get more, etc.. and they will gradually progress to bigger and bigger things. So once you get them all leveled up, you now have plenty of time to grind them til you have what you consider to be a good amount of cash and gold. I do daily challenges for gold, and everything else for cash. Today I hit $14000.00 and I am back up to 24 gold bars, from 1.4 last week. I messed up and skipped a day last week which reset my challenges again, sigh.. so for now the payouts are low, but I do around 10 challenges a day, I havent been doing many bounties lately as they pay the least for my time and right now I am in grind mode, especially with solo lobbies lately, there are so many animals to hunt, I just hunt and feed Cripps til he is full and then I go collect til the work is halted again, then I go get him supplies, give him everything new on my horse and then make a sales delivery then head back out to collect, rinse and repeat.
