Personally I want to be able to roleplay a Samurai immigrant so I'd like to see Hakama and the such and Jingasa but what are your ideas?

RDO is set in the American West /South late 19th century. Samurai?  The Samurai  Army was abolished in Japan in the 1870s and the Japanese army modernised adopting a Western Style. Not sure it would be a good fit in the game.

But the Samurai class was still around as was their code of Bushido and traditional clothes may have been worn by immigrants the code of Bushido still isn't gone nor are Samurai arts like Kyodo or Kyudo the way of the bow and sword still lives mostly now as Cultural things so they wouldn't of got rid of Bushido I may be hopeful but I still hope they add Japanese clothes and don't forget Samurai served in the Imperial Army even in WW2 they had Samurai but not in the same way as those who wore Kabuto and Do and I'm not against seeing 1890s Japanese uniforms because Samurai still wore them :)

Perhaps you could contact Rockstar and suggest this to them. They are always open to ideas and feedback from players.

An actually good slouch hat. I mean the Regimental hat is alright but it doesn't really look like what I wanted...

Other than that maybe some more long coats like the duster, or the Buckskin hunting jacket.

More vests as well, like some that are in story mode.

Some of the story mode boots

Well no doubt they will add more things from the Story I'm thinking of Exotic Clothes but good idea none the less

IMHO  you may be in the wrong game. You kind of asked what we think of that idea and then seem to defend your own position which is fine and cool oh, and you can certainly submit a suggestion to Rockstar. I think it's contrary to the idea and setting of  the game. example there are ships in the game but IMHO I don't think there should be pirate costumes

Just keep in mind Immigrants of this time tended to wear their own Countries Garb such as the Chinese so Japanese Immigrants may be wearing their own Garb such as Tattsuke Bakama, Yoroi Shitagi (S.h.i.tagi) and Waraji I don't expect them to add Armor (Although the thought of someone wearing Samurai armor and charging you on horseback in Lemoyne with a Rifle or Katana is extremely cool to me) and Pirate clothing of the 18th century would be fine in my opinion just as Foreign clothes would be. Athough thank you for your opinion 😉

I'm no expert, but it was my understanding that after the Samurai were effectively crushed by the Imperial army, even wearing samurai clothes was dangerous.  You wouldn't just be able to walk up to a ship in Nagasaki docks and board it dressed as a samurai.  The authorities wanted to stamp out the whole way of life - hairstyle, clothing, training, the lot, to eliminate the chance of any resurgence of the way of life as a threat to Imperial power.

Getting to late 19th century America still dressed as a samurai is a pretty unlikely prospect.  More likely, though, than still dressing as an 18th century pirate.  Trying to get hold of a tricorn hat with a feather in it in 1898 - good luck with that.

Lol Some Tailors made stuff that was requested given they knew the design, had materials and were given money that can basically be any clothes except Armor (you'd need to go to an Armorsmith) but your knowledge of Japanese history is pretty good  although many Japanese women and peasants still wore Traditional garb and the Imperial army mostly left you alone if you didn't display a Sword (which could be covered in Cloth if the Samurai swallowed his pride) and hid his hair with a Straw Jingasa or Metal Either one Straw seems less flashy because they don't have a Mon on them (a Mon is like a Coat of Arms but Japanese) I would want to Roleplay as a mix of Sorin Otomo and Oda Nobunaga 🙂

I think the reality is that in a game like RDR, there simply isn't going to be the demand for Japanese cultural themed outfits to warrant the work it would take to create them.

I agree with Kean. I've never seen anyone ask for Japanese styled clothing/weapons. Rockstar likely won't make different clothing and outfits based on the wants of a few people. And anyway, It doesn't fit with the theme of the game at all. The American west didn't really have too many Japanese styled cowboys roaming around. IMO it would be much more likely that they'd adapt to the societal styles and norms at the time. It'd be cheaper to just wear clothes everyone else was wearing than bringing over an entire wardrobe or having it made at a tailor. It'd probably even make you stand out as a target as someone who has enough money to get exotic clothing.

The Japanese (and Chinese) are quite stubborn when it comes to Culture you go to Saint Denis and see the Chinese in their clothes go to New Austin and you see Mexicans wearing their clothes so I'd say it's not too much of a stretch and if the Exotic clothes were tattered I don't think anyone would bat an eye. I know I'm hopeful but you know a guy can dream right 🙂

My opinion has just done a one-eighty after seeing the 👎Halloween masks Nazar is selling for $150.👎 So the guy might as well get his samurai suit(s). The horse masks were bad enough.... Here's my test: in any John Wayne or Clint Eastwood cowboy movie, would you see any of this nonsense?? 😆😅😂 I think the Halloween masks will make great target practice lol.

I still retain my original opinion. There were masks in story mode that you could buy and I think that they might make at least a little more sense in a game like Red Dead We all know that cowboys and bandits alike used bandanas for various purposes, so at least in my mind it wouldn't be too much of a stretch that some wealthier outlaws might use a mask. To each their own, though.

As for the Mexicans, A lot of their clothing influenced the styles that you would see in the west, because they were so close. The Climate is similar to the western United States, and It's not that far for them to bring on a wagon or in their own saddlebags. And the chinese people in Saint Denis formed their own 'Chinatown'. It was a group of Chinese immigrants who formed a community so i'd think they'd stand out less. IMO it'd be much less likely that a person would roam the Wild West wearing traditional Japanese garb. Again, like Kean said, It probably wouldn't happen because the demand is so small for Japanese-American Cowboys. It'd probably take them a long time to design clothing like that for only a few people to use it. Not saying that i'm opposed to the idea, but i'm just trying to be realistic.

Don't worry about it I'm also open to Confederate and Union clothes and Waist gun belts but my Dream is to be able to wear Do and Kabuto or a Jingasa 😀

What do you mean? Those are in the game already as the Military Half Chaps and I know a lot of people that wear them.

The point is that Half Chaps were practical to protect your boots and the military style ones were cheap on the surplus market.

I see. I personally don't have a problem with it and there is a lack of Half chaps at the moment, however I think there already is a design kind of like that already.

Accessories that are worn may include jackets, boots and shoes, cravats, ties, hats, cut and sew clothing, bonnets, belts and suspenders, gloves, muffs, necklaces, bracelets, watches, eyewear, sashes, shawls, scarves, lanyards, socks, pins, piercings, rings, and stockings.

.....and what does that have anything to do with this 3 year old thread?
