The more I play this game the less I like it

I was so excited to find out the RDR2 was coming out on PC. I waited forever for RDR to come out and it never did, so when it was announced that this would be out on PC as well, I was stoked. So I got it, and started playing. I tried the story mode first, just to learn the controls and get a feel for the game. After about 10 hours (not continuous) I decided I was ready to try online play. Here's where I started to dislike the game. First is character creation. I've seen better in worse games. Hell, I've seen better in beta's. This is crap. Everyone looks like a homeless alcoholic, or disease riddled corpse. No matter what I tried, I couldn't get the toon to look any better than a bad copy of my dead aunt Phyllis (or Phil, when I tried to make a male character) at her/his funeral. Oh well, I thought, that's not the point anyway, so off I go into RDR2 land. The opening bit and the jail break aren't bad, and you get to the meat of things quickly enough. The base story line is ok too, but again, everyone looks like a spaghetti western character, played by the cheapest homeless people they could find. There were little problems (glitches) that I encountered, like no clothes available at the camp. I had to have my girl run around in her bloomers for the first while because none of the clothing options were available at the start. They were all greyed out, and I couldn't select them. I figured, again, not a big deal, I can get clothes later on, right? So I went on with the game. I got to the horse theif part, and here is where it really got me. First, there is no option to solo the mission. The game forces you to wait until there is at least one other person to do the mission with. If no one is available. You still have to wait, then it lets you go on your own. But mostly, you can't solo it. I won't go into how others play the game, that's there business, suffice it to say, I found myself as the only survivor after leaving with the horse and running for the stable. I got the horse back and was transported to the "horse outfit" screen. and that's where it stayed. For two days, I logged in and found myself on that screen. Why? Because it won't let you leave on the horse without a saddle, and the option to buy a saddle is greyed out and unavailable. I don't know why. I had funds (56.80) and the horse was perfectly fine. It just wouldn't let me buy a saddle, or insurance, although that wasn't greyout, it just wouldn't work. Eventually, I managed to get out of that screen, but it involved a forced shut down of the 'puter via task manager, and when I did get back into the game, it said I had a Tennesee saddle horse, but I couldn't access it, because I didn't have a saddle. So I was stuck with the scrawny nag. Off I went to do the "Right side of the tracks" This time there is utterly NO option to solo. The mission is a 2 - 4 player mission. So again, you are forced into the lobby where you have to wait until players are available. Now, I don't know about everyone else. I'm sure that there are folks who enjoy being paired with random people to play a game. I am not one of them. If I wanted to play with others, I would invite my ACTUAL friends to play. Since I didn't, I would rather play alone.  In other words, SOLO. But, nope not allowed. You have no choice but to play with whoever is available, and if no one is, you wait. and wait. and wait. Until you do what I did, and say thanks but no thanks, exit the game and uninstall this worthless piece of crap. I played for a grand slam total of 15 hours, single player and online. The game is not worth the price, and the glitches make it almost unplayable. That coupled with the total lack of solo play, and I wouldn't touch this with a ten foot pole. The more I played it, the less I liked it, and I don't like it at all. Not one bit.

That's quite a wall of text.....

Sounds like you didn't even get through the beginning of the RDO experience.  ....and yeah, it pairs you up with randoms in that mission which I hate but once in, you can play a lot of this game alone.

Its been a very long time since I had to go through that part of the online game so I don't remember what options there are, etc. where I can provide any helpful advice.

......but I guess that's all a moot point now?  btw, you missed out on the best part of the game IMO which was the campaign.  It gets way better once you get through the initial few hours and opens up.

One thing that I do not like is the games menu interface when it comes to online mode and friends. Unless I'm messing something, I can't find a friends menu for joining their sessions. There is no lobby text chat so it is harder to talk and meet new friends. While I'm ok with not all players showing on the map at once, I hope friends in your session show up no matter what. 

In the future, we need private sessions without being punished for wanting to play solo with friends only like in other RockStar games and a dedicated friends menu like in their other games. The PC game so far for me has been a modder griefer fest.

The best part of Red Dead, is the single player story.  Why would only play a few hours of single player and jump into online.... and then uninstall the game and complain about 'lacking' solo play?   Thats make's no sense..

Theres plenty of things to complain about when it comes to Red Dead Online..  But not like that.

Pretty much.  Joined 11 days ago, posted and hasn't bothered to come back.   Why even bother if that's the case.  I don't get some people.

So true.

I dont get ppl that skip the story mode which in my opinion is a masterpiece and jump on Online  then after beeing killed or DC'ed out of a mission label the game BAD. 

I myself was waiting for the game to finally come out and bought my first console ever (i was a PC guy) just to play this game. I started with Story mode and after completing it went on to online.  Sure online has it's flaws but it doesnt change the fact that RDR 2 is and will be one of the best games ever made.

I understand that.  We all do a little venting every now and again.  .....some more than others but we are all here taking part and interacting. 

I guess what I don't get is why someone would waste the effort explaining all that on a public forum and then never return to read or answer the replies.  It's just a waste of everyone else's time IMO.  It would have made just as much sense if they wrote this in Word, deleted it and then moved on with their life in that case, right?

I'm ok with that, but stick with our forum community and stick with the game and let's get R* to make this awesome game, better and better. We can get R* to do it, but it takes numbers.
