Rockstar Teases Red Dead Redemption PC Port Release

With Red Dead Redemption coming to PC next, fans are wondering if a Red Dead Revolver re-release is on the horizon.

In June, the Epic Games Store leaked the long-awaited release of the PC port of Red Dead Redemption.

The database leak contained a list of upcoming PC ports of popular titles, including the details of an imminent desktop release of the award-winning 2010 title.

However, since the accidental reveal, Rockstar Games has yet to issue confirmation. Now, it appears Rockstar is preparing to make an announcement.

Red Dead Redemption 2's visuals on PC still hold up five years later.
Red Dead Redemption 2’s visuals on PC still hold up five years later.

While there’s no official word yet, a recent update to the Rockstar Games launcher hints at this, as pointed out by @videotechuk_ on X.

While Rockstar is still all-in on Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption 2 is much more prominently featured on the storefront than its infinitely more popular (and lucrative) cousin, Grand Theft Auto V.

The Red Dead franchise is currently on hiatus as Rockstar bets everything on GTA for the foreseeable future. Red Dead Online hasn’t received a significant update for years. Fans remain supportive of Red Dead as Rockstar adds the occasional monthly bonuses and rewards, perhaps to keep the few hopeful fans satisfied and happy.

With the next Red Dead title likely still years away, Rockstar is wise to tap into the second game in the series to keep the franchise at the forefront of mainstream consciousness.

The sequel to the lesser-known Red Dead Revolver had been stuck on the PS3 and Xbox 360 for years until Microsoft supported it with its backward compatibility program. A decade later, the game was re-released on the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, where it sold well and ran best on the PlayStation 5.

Following the success of the re-release of Red Dead Redemption, it makes sense for the PC launch to happen, which is curiously still not available when Red Dead Redemption 2 has been available on the PC since 2019.

At the rate that it’s going, Rockstar might dig deeper into its treasure trove of classic and forgotten titles and re-release Red Dead Revolver on modern consoles.

Speaking of classic games, the update to the Rockstar Games launcher also highlighted Bully and L.A. Noire, which came out in 2006 and 2011, respectively.
