Leaked Files Confirm Imminent Red Dead Redemption PC Release

Red Dead Redemption 1 on PC would look absolutely gorgeous, especially with mods.

The gaming landscape has evolved significantly since 2010, when PC ports of successful console titles were a rarity due to the vastly different architectures of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

However, with the confirmation of Red Dead Redemption 2’s PC release and the successful re-release of its predecessor on PlayStation 4 and subsequent PlayStation 5 upgrade, fans have been holding out hope for a PC port of Red Dead Redemption.

Recent rumors, fueled by an earlier leak from Epic Games, suggest that this long-awaited release is on the horizon.

Despite the lack of an official announcement from Rockstar Games, eagle-eyed observers noticed that PC files for the Red Dead Redemption port were briefly added to the latest update of the Rockstar Games Launcher before being swiftly removed. This isn’t the first time Rockstar has inadvertently hinted at the impending PC release.

The PC port would provide a welcome addition for fans, especially after Rockstar dropped support for Red Dead Online some time ago. Based on previous releases, the Red Dead Redemption PC port is expected to come with a $50 price tag, which Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick deems a “commercially accurate price.”

Given the minimal graphical enhancements in the PS4 and Nintendo Switch ports released last year, expectations for the PC version should be tempered. Rockstar has a history of delaying PC releases, as seen with Red Dead Redemption 2, which arrived on desktops a year after its console debut.

Fans continue to hope for a next-gen update to Red Dead Redemption 2, and with the Red Dead Redemption PC port seemingly on the way, Rockstar may finally have the opportunity to give one of the best-looking video games a facelift on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X, especially with the PlayStation 5 Pro’s impending release.
