Red Dead Redemption 2 continues to surprise years after being put to pasture by Rockstar Games.
Just months after receiving a surprisingly hefty content update, the latest sales figures reveal that the award-winning 2018 title is one of the all time best-selling video games on the PlayStation platform.
As reported by Mat Piscatella on Bluesky, Circana’s Retail Tracking Service lists Red Dead Redemption 2 as the third best-selling video game in the United States in terms of revenue and copies sold.
While the report doesn’t reveal specific numbers, it shows that the fourth Red Dead entry outpaced several Call of Duty titles and other first-party Sony titles, including Marvel’s Spider-Man, The Last of Us, and God of War, among several others.
Here’s the complete list of all the best-selling PlayStation games in the United States:

What’s perhaps most surprising is that Red Dead Redemption 2 made it on this list even though it’s less than a decade old and has technically only been released for the PlayStation 4.
Remember that this is a list composed of the best-selling games on PlayStation in the United States ever since the console became available to buy on American storeshelves in 1995. Would it rank higher up the chain if the rumored re-release were true and released earlier?
Regardless, for a 7-year-old game that’s still technically optimized to run on older consoles, nabbing the #3 spot remains wildly impressive.
Of course, if you’ve been keeping up with the numbers we’ve been reporting all this time, this shouldn’t come entirely as a shock.
Despite being abandoned as Rockstar focuses on Grand Theft Auto 6, Red Dead Redemption 2 has maintained its commercial success. In fact, it recently surpassed Mario Kart in units sold and is technically the better-selling title compared to its stablemate, Grand Theft Auto V, since its release in 2018.
So while it’s certainly true that you can’t beat a dead horse, this one remains very much alive, albeit left on its own to gallop all over the competition.
