Where is the rifle on the mission Old Friends?

I have just started playing and I'm on Chapter 1. Dutch keeps telling me I will need my rifle. I believe my horse is the brown one. When I hold Tab next to it, there only appears to be a revolver and a shotgun. Where's the rifle? -
Do I need the Steam version of RDR2 for Steam Achievements?

I believe (though I may be wrong) that it opens in a different program (RGSC) when launching through Steam anyway, so do I need to buy the game through Steam for Steam Achievements or can I also earn Steam Achievements with the RGSC and/or Epic Games versions, also? (perhaps via. some kind of linking?)
