Where To Find All Needed Materials

To craft all the items that trappers can create, you will need a huge amount of materials, including perfect pelts, hides and skins. To get them, you must perform a perfect kill on a three-star rated animal. Legendary Animals parts are also required to craft some of the trapper's items, but they are not included in the list below, as they are somewhat easier to obtain than regular animal parts: just kill the related legendary animal and you'll get it.

Perfect Bison Hide

Amount needed: three perfect bison hides. These animals are be found to the west of Blackwater, and in the Heartlands Overflow to the southwest of Annesburg. To get a perfect kill, you can use poison arrows, rifles, and sniper rifles, just make sure to go for headshots to avoid damaging them too much, as they are extremely resilient.

Perfect Bull Hide

Amount needed: three perfect bull hides. Bulls are somewhat uncommon in Red Dead Redemption 2, and can only be found in three different areas: to the north of Saint Denis, near Lagras, slightly to the north of the "H" in New Hanover on the map and slightly to the north of the "E" in West Elizabeth on the map. To get a perfect kill, you can use the bow armed with either poison or improved arrows, rifles and sniper rifles.

Perfect Boar Pelt

Amount needed: ten perfect boar pelts. Boars are very common in the Lemoyne region, especially near forested areas. To get a perfect kill, you can use regular arrows, poison arrows, rifles, and sniper rifles. Always go for headshots to avoid damaging the animal's body.

Perfect Rabbit Pelt

Amount needed: seven perfect rabbit pelt. Rabbits are very common, and they can be found in most areas near Valentine, Strawberry, Rhodes and Saint Denis. You will encounter a few of them while traveling on roads in these areas as well since they don't seem to be too afraid of getting trampled by horses and carriages. The only way to perform a perfect kill on rabbits is by using the Varmint Rifle armed with 0.22 shells.

Perfect Raccoon Pelt

Amount needed: one perfect raccoon pelt. Raccoons can be found easily in the Lemoyne, New Hanover and West Elizabeth regions. The only way to get a perfect kill on them is by using the Varmint Rifle loaded with 0.22 shells

Perfect Beaver Pelt

Amount needed: nine perfect beaver pelts. Beavers are among the most difficult animals to locate, as they only spawn in very few areas of the map. The best area to find them is near the E and R in New Hanover on the map. To get a perfect kill on them, you can use the bow armed with regular arrow, repeaters, rifles and sniper rifles.

Hawk Feather

Amount needed: three hawk feathers. Being one of the most common birds in North America, hawks are very common in Red Dead Redemption 2. They can be found to the west of Blackwater, near the edges of the map, as well as in several areas in the New Austin region and to the northeast of Annesburg. The only way to get a perfect kill on hawks, if you need to get one, is by using the Varmint Rifle armed with 0.22 shots

Perfect Ram Hide

Amount needed: five perfect ram hides. Rams are common in Ambarino and West Elizabeth, in the areas close to the "West" on the map. Perfect kills on rams are performed with the bow armed with either regular or poison arrows, rifles, and sniper rifles.

Perfect Elk Pelt

Amount needed: four perfect elk pelts. These animals are easy to find in cold regions, like the Ambarino region and to the north of Annesburg. Getting a perfect kill on elks is done with poison arrows, rifles, and sniper rifles.

Cardinal Feathers

Amount needed: three cardinal feathers. These birds are very common in the areas directly to the southwest and west of Valentine. Cardinals respond to both herbivore and predator baits, so use either of them to flush them out. To get a perfect kill on these birds, you need to use the bow armed with the small game arrows.

Turkey Feathers

Amount needed: six turkey feathers. Turkeys can be found in most areas of the map, in the New Hanover and Lemoyne regions, as well as in the surroundings of the Van Horn Trading Post and Annesburg. The only way to get a perfect kill on turkeys is to kill them with the Varmint Rifle armed with 0.22 shots.

Perfect Goat Hide

Amount needed: seven perfect goat hides. Wild goats are very uncommon in Red Dead Redemption 2, but they are not that difficult to find, as they spawn often in an area a little to the north of Saint Denis, near the coast. Regular arrows, poison arrows, rifles, and sniper rifles can be used to get a perfect kill.

Eagle Feathers

Amount needed: four eagle feathers. Eagles are just as common as hawks, and they can be found in the eastern part of Ambarino, near Annessburg, to the northwest of the northern edges of Flat Iron Lake and in the areas close to the southwestern edges of the map. You can get a perfect kill on these birds only by using the Varmint Rifle armed with 0.22 shots.

Perfect Moose Pelt

Amount needed: three perfect moose pelts. Mooses are a little difficult to come by, as they spawn in very small areas. The best areas are found between the "I" and "N" in Ambarino on the map and directly to the north of Annesburg, near the edge of the map. You can use the bow armed with poison and improved arrows, rifles, sniper rifles and shotguns armed with slug ammo to get a perfect kill.

Perfect Fox Pelt

Amount needed: three perfect fox pelts. Foxes can be found in several different areas all over the map, such as in forested areas in Ambarino and Lemoyne. To get a perfect kill on a fox, you can use the bow with regular or poison arrows, repeaters, rifle, and sniper rifles.

Perfect Cow Hide

Amount needed: five perfect cow hides. Cows can be found in several different small areas, but the best one is to the north of Saint Denis, close to the coast. To get a perfect kill on cows, you can use the bow with poison arrows, rifles, and sniper rifles

Perfect Muskrat Pelt

Amount needed: five perfect muskrat pelt. Muskrats are quite common in several areas of the map, such as areas to the north of Annesburg and to the west and south of Strawberry. Using the Varmint Rifle armed with 0.22 shots is the only way to get a perfect kill on them.

Perfect Alligator Skin

Amount needed: one perfect alligator skin. These animals are somewhat uncommon, as they can only be found in the swamps surrounding Saint Denis, but they are easy to find in the area since they spawn very often. To get a perfect kill on them, you can use the bow with poison arrows, rifles, and sniper rifles.

Perfect Snake Skin

Amount needed: fifteen perfect snake skins. Snakes are found in several different areas all over the map, but the best is definitely is near the road going from Saint Denis to the Van Horn Trading Post and Annesburg. Using predator bait makes them appear more often, so make sure to take a good stock with you, since you will need to kill fifteen three-star snakes. The only way to get a perfect kill on a snake is by using the bow with small game arrows.

Perfect Gila Monster Skin

Amount needed: two perfect gila monster skins. These reptiles are only found all in the areas surrounding the A, S, and T in New Austin on the map. Since they can only be found here, the gila monster skins can only be collected after completing the game. The Varmint Rifle armed with 0.22 rounds is the only weapon capable of getting a perfect kill on them.

Perfect Wolf Pelt

Amount needed: three perfect wolf pelt. Being afraid of humans, wolves are elusive and can only be found in the West Elizabeth and Ambarino regions. A very good hunting area is found above the "O" in Ambarino on the map. To get a perfect kill on wolves, you can use the bow with regular or poison arrows, rifles, and sniper rifles.

Perfect Sheep Hide

Amount needed: six perfect sheep hides. Sheep are common in areas with cold and moderate climate, so they are easily found in Ambarino and the northern parts of West Elizabeth, near the western edges of the map. They can also be found in the Tumbleweed area in New Austin. Using the bow armed with regular and poison arrows, rifles, and sniper rifles will allow you to get a perfect kill on them

Perfect Pronghorn Hide

Amount needed: four pronghorn hides. These animals are very easy to find in the New Hanover region, particularly in the areas next to the "New" in New Hanover on the map, and to the south of them, near Flat Iron Lake. You can use the bow with regular or poison arrows, rifles, and sniper rifles to get a perfect kill on pronghorns.

Perfect Collared Peccary Pig Pelt

Amount needed: two perfect collared peccary pig pelts. These unique type of pig can only be found in the New Austin regions, especially in the areas past of the train track to the east of Benedict Point. You can us a bow armed with poison arrows, rifles, and sniper rifles to get a perfect kill on them.

Perfect Iguana Skin

Amount needed: three perfect iguana skins. These animals are not easy to find at all, as they only spawn in the northern part of the island on the eastern side of Flat Iron Lake. They become much easier to find, however, after completing the game, as they are very common in the New Austin region. The Varmint Rifle with .022 rounds is the only way to get a perfect kill on iguanas.

Perfect Panther Pelt

Amount needed: three perfect panther pelts. These fearsome felines are extremely rare in Red Dead Redemption 2, and can only appear in two specific areas: south of Rhodes, near the river bank to the southeast of Braithwaite Manor and to the north of Saint Denis, directly above of the "N" and "E" in Lemoyne on the map. To get perfect kills on panthers, you can use the bow with regular or poison arrows, rifles, and sniper rifles.

Owl Feather

Amount needed: one owl feather. There are a few owl types in Red Dead Redemption 2, but they all drop the same generic feathers, so hunting any of them will do. Owls can be found to the west of Blackwater, in the areas to the edge of the map, in the southern part of the island found to the east of Flat Iron Lake, to the north of Annesburg and near the edges of the map to the north of the "N" and "O" in Ambarino on the map. In case you want to get a perfect kill on any owl, you will need to use the Varmint Rifle armed with 0.22 rounds.

Perfect Buck Pelt

Amount needed: three single perfect buck pelts. Bucks are very easy to find, being very common in the Lemoyne region as well as in the northern parts of New Hanover, close to the border with Ambarino. You must use the bow with arrows and poison arrows, rifles or sniper rifles to get perfect kills.

Perfect Ox Hide

Amount needed: two perfect ox hides. Ox are somewhat rare in Red Dead Redemption 2, since they appear only in select areas in the New Hanover and Lemoyne regions. The best places to find them are located directly to the north of Braithwaithe Manor and to the north and east of Rhodes. Poison arrows, rifles, and sniper rifles are the weapons you must use to get perfect kills on an ox.

Perfect Coyote Pelt

Amount needed: three perfect coyote pelts. Coyotes are among the easiest animals to find in the game, as they spawn in a huge area, the whole eastern part of the New Hanover region, starting from south of the Van Horn Trading post to the north of Annesburg. They are also common in Lemoyne in the surroundings of Rhodes. You can use the bow armed with regular or poison arrows, repeaters, rifles or sniper rifles to get a perfect kill on them.

Perfect Deer Pelt

Amount needed: three perfect deer pelts. This animal is extremely common near forested areas all over Lemoyne and the eastern part of Ambarino, and you won't have any trouble finding it. To get a perfect kill on them, you can use the bow with regular or poison arrows, rifles, and sniper rifles.

Perfect Pig Hide

Amount needed: one single perfect pig hide. There are different types of pigs in the game, but the perfect skin of any of them will suffice. The regular pig is the most common, spawning in an area directly to the east of Saint Denis and to the north of Flat Iron Lake, right below the first "N" in New Hanover on the map. The bow armed with regular or poison arrows, repeaters, rifles, and sniper rifles are good to get a perfect kill on any pig.

Perfect Armadillo Skin

Amount needed: two perfect armadillo skins. Armadillos are among the animals that cannot be found in any way during the main story, as they are only available in the southeastern part of the map, which can only be accessed after completing it and reaching the Epilogue. They are very common in all of the New Austin region, so you won't have troubles finding them. You must use the Varmint Rifle armed with 0.22 rounds to get a perfect kill on them.

Perfect Cougar Pelt

Amount needed: three perfect cougar pelts. Cougars are easier to find in the New Austin region, especially to the south of Tumbleweed, right above the river bank, but they also spawn to the south of Blackwater, near the river bank, and to the west of West Elizabeth, near the edge of the map. The bow armed with regular or poison arrows, rifles, and sniper rifles are good to get perfect kills on them. Just make sure to avoid getting into a fight with them, as they are fast and strong, and will retaliate if not killed in a single shot.

Perfect Black Bear Pelt

Amount needed: two perfect black bear pelts. Black Bears are smaller than the Grizzly Bear but just as vicious. They mostly spawn in forested areas in cold regions. The best hunting spot is the forest in the Big Valley area in West Elizabeth: place a potent predator bait and they will emerge after a short while. To get a perfect kill on them, you can use the bow armed with poison or improved arrows, rifles and sniper rifles. Make sure to kill them with a single shot, otherwise, they will fight back.

Perfect Badger Pelt

Amount needed: two perfect badger pelts. Badgers are easy to find in the Lemoyne region, where they spawn pretty much everywhere from the northern edges to Rhodes and the outskirts of Saint Denis. The Varmint Rifle armed with 0.22 shots is the only weapon capable of getting a perfect kill on them.

Perfect Skunk Pelt

Amount needed: three perfect skunk pelts. Skunks are among the most common animals in Red Dead Redemption 2, spawning in all of the Lemoyne region, the eastern part of New Hanover, and on the western edges of New Elizabeth. To get a perfect kill on skunks, you must use the Varmint Rifle armed with 0.22 rounds.

Perfect Squirrel Pelt

Amount needed: six perfect squirrel pelts. These animals are very easy to find in all forested areas on the map, like the forests near Strawberry, to the north of Annesburg, in Ambarino and West Elizabeth. You need to use the bow armed with the small game arrows to get perfect kills on squirrels.

Perfect Rat Pelt

Amount needed: sixteen perfect rat pelts. Rats are actually less common than expected, spawning only in select areas like West Elizabeth, the northern areas of Lemoyne and the docks of Saint Denis. The latter is definitely the best spot for hunting them, just place either a predator or herbivore bait and wait for them to appear. The bow armed with the small game arrows is the only weapon capable of killing rats perfectly.

Perfect Opossum Pelt

Amount needed: four perfect opossum pelts. These rodents are not particularly common, as they spawn in only a few small areas. The best ones are located directly to the north of Annesburg, the northern edges of Flat Iron Lake and in the areas surrounding the "W" in West Elizabeth on the map. You can get a perfect kill on opossums only by killing them with the Varmint Rifle armed with 0.22 rounds.

Raven Feather

Amount needed: thirteen raven feathers. Ravens are among the most difficult birds to find in Red Dead Redemption 2. The best hunting spots are the surroundings on Blackwater in West Elizabeth and the areas between the "E" and "M" in Lemoyne on the map. The bow armed with the small game arrows is the only weapon capable of getting a perfect kill on them.

Robin Feather

Amount needed: seven robin feathers. Unlike ravens, robins are very common all over the map, especially near Valentine, Strawberry, Rhodes, and Annesburg. You must use the bow armed with small game arrows to get a perfect kill on them.

Oriole Feather

Amount needed: five oriole feathers. Orioles can be a bit difficult to find, as they only spawn in very small areas. The easiest hunting spots to reach are located right outside Rhodes, to the north, near the northwestern side of Flat Iron Lake and the island to the east of the lake. The bow with the small game arrows is the only weapon capable of getting a perfect kill on them.

Loon Feather

Amount needed: two loon feathers. Loons are common near Flat Iron Lake, especially on the island to the east of the lake and near its northwestern edges. Loons are also easy to find to the north and east of Annesburg and near Lagras. You must use the bow armed with the small game arrows to get a perfect kill on them.

Condor Feather

Amount needed: one condor feather. This magnificent bird is, without a doubt, the rarest of all Red Dead Redemption 2, as it only spawns in an area located to the west of Tumbleweed, to the north of the "E" in New Austin on the map. As such, you can only hunt it after completing the game. You must use the Varmint Rifle armed with 0.22 rounds to get a perfect kill on a condor.

Vulture Feather

Amount needed: one vulture feather. The vulture is luckily easier to find than the condor, as it spawns not only all over the New Austin region, but also in the northern parts of Lemoyne, very close to the Horseshoe Outlook, directly south of Braithwaithe Manor and in the area located on the gap between the "A" and "N" in New Hanover on the map. You must use the Varmint Rifle armed with 0.22 shots to get a perfect kill on vultures.

Seagull Feather

Amount needed: one seagull feather. These birds, which come in multiple types are among the most common to find in all of Red Dead Redemption 2, as they can be found near any body of water, the docks in Saint Denis and near the eastern edges of the map. The Varmint Rifle armed with 0.22 rounds is the only weapon capable of getting a perfect kill on them.

Pheasant Feather

Amount needed: two pheasant feathers. Pheasants are quite rare in the game, as they only spawn in an area slightly to the north of the gap between "New" and "Hanover" on the map and right outside of Valentine, to the southwest. You must use the bow armed with small game arrows to get a perfect kill on them.

Sparrow Feather

Amount needed: four sparrow feathers. This bird is among the most common of the game, as it can be found pretty much all over the West Elizabeth, Ambarino and Lemoyne regions. Easy hunting spots are the northern outskirts of Valentine and the town of Rhodes. You must use the bow armed with the small game arrows to get a perfect kill on these birds.

Cedar Waxwing Feather

Amount needed: two cedar waxwing feathers. The cedar waxwing is pretty rare, as it only spawns in two small areas located to the west of Valentine and to the north of Blackwater, a little to the north of the "Z and "A" in Elizabeth on the map. The bow armed with the small game arrows is the only weapon capable of getting a perfect kill on these birds.

Blue Jay Feather

Amount needed: three blue jay feathers. The blue jay can be found easily in Rhodes and its surroundings, as well as to the south and southwest of Valentine and in Annesburg. You must use the bow armed with the small game arrows to get a perfect kill on this bird.

Quail Feather

Amount needed: two quail feathers. Quails are easy to find in Strawberry and its surroundings, as well as in the area where the first "N" in New Hanover is placed. The bow armed with small game arrows is the only weapon that can get a perfect kill on this bird.

Duck Feather

Amount needed: two duck feathers. Ducks are found in almost all regions of the map, but the best hunting spots are the swamps outside of Saint Denis and the surroundings of Annesburg, including the areas near the river bank in the east. You will need to use the bow armed with small game arrows to get a perfect kill on any duck.

Chicken Feather

Amount needed: four chicken feathers. While chickens can be found in most farms, killing them in the open will result in you committing a crime, so it's better to go after ones found in the wild, which come in multiple types. Multiple areas found right where New Hanover is written on the map and Blackwater and its surroundings are the best hunting spots. You must use the bow armed with the small game arrows to get a perfect kill on any chicken.

Crow Feather

Amount needed: two crow feathers. Crows are very common in Lemoyne, right outside Rhodes and in the western side of Saint Denis. The bow armed with the small game arrows is the only weapon that can get a perfect kill on this bird.

Woodpecker Feather

Amount needed: six woodpecker feathers. There are two different types of woodpeckers in Red Dead Redemption 2, but the feathers are the same, so any of the two types will do. Both types are extremely common in West Elizabeth and Ambarino, especially in forested areas. The bow armed with small game arrows is the only weapon capable of getting a perfect kill on woodpeckers.

Pigeon Feather

Amount needed: two pigeon feathers. Surprisingly enough, the pigeon is quite rare in the game, spawning only in the southern parts of Saint Denis, the northwestern edge of Flat Iron Lake and Annesburg. You must use the bow armed with the small game arrows to get a perfect kill on this bird.

Rooster Feather

Amount needed: four rooster feathers. Roosters are easy to find in farms, but avoiding killing them here, since you will commit a crime and become wanted. The best hunting areas for wild ones are located in the eastern outskirts of the Van Horn Trading post and to the north and south of Braithwaithe Manor. You must use the bow armed with small game arrows to get a perfect kill on roosters.

Songbird Feather

Amount needed: two songbird feathers. Songbirds are common in Ambarino, West Elizabeth, New Hanover, and Lemoyne, so you can just head into any of the towns and start hunting in their outskirts. You will need to use the bow armed with the small game arrows to get a perfect kill on songbirds.

Goose Feather

Amount needed: two goose feathers. These birds aren't particularly common, but they are easy to find in the areas near the northwestern edge of Flat Iron Lake and in the areas near the "N" and "O" in New Hanover on the map. You must use the Varmint Rifle armed with 0.22 rounds to get a perfect kill.
