Red Dead Online Boosts Free Roam Event Rewards for Monthly Bonuses

Headlining this month's Red Dead Online bonuses are a bunch of extra rewards for participating in Free Roam Events and Missions, among others.

It’s a new month, which means new bonuses in Red Dead Online. Despite Rockstar Games ceasing the development of brand new content updates, the gaming world’s foremost cowboy simulator is still popular – players logging in this month will be earning extra rewards for Free Roam Events and Missions, as well as Telegram Missions and more.

Headlining this month’s bonuses are reward boosts for the exact kind of content that will have you delve deep into the frontier and spend time exploring Red Dead Online’s vast open world map. Free Roam Events offer a massive variety of activities that you can encounter out in the wilderness, and are awarding 4x the usual XP through the 29th of April.

Additional XP isn’t the only incentive this month to play Free Roam Events, as engaging in these activities week after week will net you a series of special rewards in addition to the extra XP. The sequence of these weekly gifts is as follows:

  • April 2 – 8: A pair of red and orange Furred Gloves.
  • April 9 – 15: An Offer for 40% off an Ability Card Upgrade.
  • April 16 – 22: A pair of black Pelt Half Chaps.
  • April 23 – 29: 3 Fire Bottles and 3 Toxic Moonshine.
The main focus this month is on Free Roam Events and Missions.

XP is essential for progression and growing your character in RDO, but it doesn’t pay the bills. In order to fatten your wallet too, jump into some of the more structured Free Roam Missions, paying out triple XP and RDO$ through the same time period. Hopping between both types of activity will let you maximize your gains from the monthly bonuses.

To shake things up a bit, you can also play Telegram Missions and work through the story of the A Land of Opportunities missions, both of which pay triple rewards both in terms of money and XP. Additionally, finishing any A New Source of Employment Telegram Mission will net you an extra North Tumbleweed Treasure Map.

Gather your fellow gunslingers and dig in for the wave-based cooperative horde mode Call to Arms, paying out double the usual Gold and ability card XP all month long. Those among you with the quickest hands and best teamwork can unlock the Ortega Vest by surviving to Wave 10. Double RDO$ and XP is also doled out by the Featured Series.

Assorted monthly rewards include an Offer for 40% off a Coat, Premium Cigarettes, and a Reward of 5000 XP for completing 3 daily challenges; 50 Repeater and 50 Rifle High Velocity Ammo for purchasing weapon mods; and an Offer for 50% off the Navy Revolver for crafting at Gus’ store.

All players can claim the various clothing items comprising this month’s Community Inspired Outfit for free, which adds up to 11 free items. The rotating limited time items this month are the the Eberhart Coat, Carver Pants, Strickland Boots, and Gardenia Hat. Topping it all off, fast travel is free all month.

While new content won’t be developed for Red Dead Online, Rockstar is still updating the game with bug fixes and other stability related changes on top of regular maintenance – one of these Title Updates was released just recently, so don’t be surprised when you log in to see voice chat defaulting to off!

Ever since the original Red Dead Redemption was released back in 2010 and swiftly completed by Matt he has been eagerly anticipating another return to the Wild West. In Matt's totally non-biased opinion the story told in the sequel, Red Dead Redemption 2, is one of the best ever (at least as far as games go). And while some story DLC would be great, Matt isn't counting on it!
