Red Dead Redemption 2 PC Screenshots, New Content, Specs Revealed

Red Dead Redemption 2 has finally been confirmed for PC and we can barely contain our excitement. Luckily we won't have to for long, since it's arriving on the 5th of November. Rockstar has released new screenshots and details today, including system specs.

You can pre-purchase the game via the Rockstar Games Launcher already, with other sources starting their pre-orders a bit later. We already detailed the bonuses you'll get with your pre-order in our announcement post, but this time Rockstar posted a handy chart showing everything you'll get if you are an early bird.

Rockstar had already hinted at how PC's capabilities will be utilised to the maximum by Red Dead Redemption 2, and now we have some more specifics on this matter. Graphically, there are fewer limits on PC than there are on consoles, allowing us to experience the frontier with even greater realism and immersion.

The game will support HDR/4K, multiple monitors, widescreen resolution and higher framerates than the console versions. To show off the technical prowess of the port, Rockstar will soon be releasing a 4K, 60FPS trailer leading up to the release of the PC version.

Beyond technical enhancements, players can also finally experience the complete Red Dead Redemption 2 experience, with additional content not available on consoles added to the PC version. This edition of Red Dead Redemption 2 contains three additional Bounty Hunter missions, where your targets are Herman Zizendorf, a thief; Camille de Millemont, a former Confederate officer; and Bart Cavanaugh, a notorious outlaw.

Two new Gang Hideouts have been also added. The Del Lobos are camped down at Gaptooth Breach and Solomon's Folly, where you can take them out and loot their supplies. Two new treasure maps - Landmarks of Riches and The Elemental Trail - as well as a new gathering mission "To The Ends Of The Earth" also await.

Four new guns will also be available in the story mode of Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC, including the LeMat Revolver, the High Roller Revolver, the Evans Repeater and the M1899 Pistol. There are also seven new horses to track down, such as some that were previously only available in Red Dead Online such as the Perlino Andalusian and the Red Chestnut Arabian. Five new trinkets with new beneficial effects, such as the Shark Tooth which boosts Horse Bonding XP gain by 10% will also be added.

The game's specifications have also been released, which seem surprisingly lenient. The minimum specs shouldn't be hard to match with any relatively modern PC, and even the recommended specs aren't prohibitively high.

Minimum Specifications:

  • OS:  Windows 7 - Service Pack 1 (6.1.7601)
  • Processor:  Intel® Core™ i5-2500K / AMD FX-6300
  • Memory:  8GB
  • Graphics Card:  Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 2GB / AMD Radeon R9 280 3GB
  • HDD Space:  150GB
  • Sound Card:  DirectX compatible

Recommended Specifications:

  • OS:  Windows 10 - April 2018 Update (v1803)
  • Processor:  Intel® Core™ i7-4770K / AMD Ryzen 5 1500X
  • Memory:  12GB
  • Graphics Card:  Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB / AMD Radeon RX 480 4GB
  • HDD Space:  150GB
  • Sound Card:  DirectX compatible

The only part of these requirements that had us doing a double-take was the space required. 150 GB isn't as colossal as it used to be, but it's still very large for a game. You better start cleaning up your drives to have enough room by the 5th of November.
