This totally happened to me! I thought I'd go kill it early in the game to get the trinket for future hunts... it was nighttime, I crept up on him, scanned, drew my bow and he just fell down dead! So now he's in my compendium as skinned and scanned but not killed. Do the legendaries respawn? I'd like to get the kill against it.

I've just started Chapter 3, but I love exploring and discovering things. Was made aware of rdr2map.com yesterday so I won't be seeing Chapter 4 anytime soon!!
