Incorrect. order rice cooker ($$) wait for rice cooker to arrive open and plug in rice cooker add rice to rice cooker add water to rice cooker switch on rice cooker wait 15 minutes fluff and enjoy Literally the only thing you're avoiding is the 30-second stir. You're paying ~$20 to not do a 30-second stir. *I* shall continue to perform the 30-second stir. And save money. And counter space. And dignity. And reputation in the elite rice-making community. 😁

boil 2 parts water (less for brown rice) and add 1 part rice stir for 30 sec - 1 min to avoid bottom settling/sticking cover & cook at lowest setting for 15 minutes fluff and enjoy It works perfectly every single time. So I can't justify the cost/counter space/wife complaints to invest in a rice cooker.

I'm going to state what will very likely be an unpopular opinion: I've always made my rice in a lidded pot of water, and it has always come out perfectly, so a rice cooker seems like a waste of money to me. Please begin your systematic character assassination.
-
Wow. I would have thought the new one would've been much bigger. If it's small, you can always exchange it.
-
Was this with the old slow cooker or the new one?
-
Yes. I'm sure your BRAND NEW slow cooker will bring you all kinds of Wonder and Delight. Just make a chart of its temperatures first, then enjoy. I expect to see many, many wonderful photographs, and perhaps some monetary gestures of gratitude. 😁

You should have your new slow cooker by tomorrow. If you receive it early enough, I highly recommend ribs for dinner tomorrow.
-
You should be happy with the one you ordered. It's got Low, High, and Auto (warm). I highly recommend you run a test on it at some point after you get it: Pour in about a quart of water, then switch it to "High," put the lid on, and leave it alone for at least two hours (overnight is easiest) When you come back to check it, stick a food thermometer in the water and write down the temperature. Repeat this for both the "Low" and the "Auto" settings. Then you'll know exactly at what temperature each level cooks, so you'll know where you want to set it for each dish. I keep my chart on an index card taped to the bottom. It's quite handy.

https://www.amazon.com/Nesco-SC-150R-Oval-Cooker-1-5-Quart/dp/B00LB0W2A4 This shouldn't matter. Not in the least. If the lid is completely down, everything should cook the same (unless parts are submerged in something) CONCLUSION: buy a new, cheap slow cooker.

What?? After 8+ hours in a slow cooker?? These guys should be falling off the bone by this point. Did you eat 'em?

This is how I make pulled pork, except I don't use the liquid smoke - I smoke the pork in the pit for 3-4 hours. But the root beer makes it fantastic. It's yum. @Truth - if you want a little crunch to them, set your oven to BROIL, let it get hot, then put your ribs (on a baking sheet) in there for five minutes. You can either pour the barbecue sauce back on before or after. Each yields a different result. Maybe do one rack before and one after and see which you like best. Would love to see a photo of the final product, t'wert thou so inclined. No, I've not. But then again, I just enjoy them too damned much after blanching them in near-boiling beer and onions, then grilling them to a golden brown. Add some creole or brown mustard, along with some sauteed onions & peppers in a bun, with sauerkraut and red cabbage on the side -- OMG, what a meal!!!

Quite ironic. My SECOND car was a black 1994 Nissan Sentra with a 5-speed manual transmission, and power locks and windows. My first was a 1987 Sentra standard with no auto anything.

Wow, you still own your first car?? That's incredible. Have you ever thought about selling it?

What is your biggest fear for Red Dead Redemption II?
Cokeyskunk replied to Archbell's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
I disagree. We've also seen several videos including gameplay which have been phenomenal. That's like judging a book by several very riveting excerpts from different chapters. Which is a far sight better than by just looking at the cover. -
My favorite car of all time. It's my dream to own one someday.
-
Nice. Just cut them up, put 'em in the slow cooker, cover with Liquid Smoke (just enough to coat - don't go bananas), then cover with the rib rub of your choice and barbecue sauce. Let it go on Low for 6-10 hours. Voila. Best you can do without a pit. Enjoy.
-
Thanks for that. Now we won't, either. 😝

I have a great recipe for slow cooker ribs, if you want it. (and if you can wrangle getting one) It does take about 10 hours, though. So it's better to prepare the night before and keep the inner pot lidded and refrigerated overnight, then put the pot/lid back in the next morning, turn it to Low, then head to work. It'll be done by they time you get home.

Do you have a slow cooker?

Hey, I referenced a desire to have the username of a character from a film made in 1981! That's not exactly whipper-snapper territory.

Nice! Glad to see another published author here. (I published a novel a few years back, but didn't use a pen name.)
