My favorite camp location is right by Bard's Crossing because it teems with such diverse life and geography. Wolf encounters happen often enough. I believe you can get this location either through camping in Great Plains or the Heartlands. Since Bard's crossing is rare enough to land, there's Gaptooth Ridge. Specifically, Gaptooth Breach. This location is full of game and random encounters. If you're making a long distance trek to sell your furs, this place provides a flat enough terrain to provide minimal risk in destroying your wagon. I place my moonshine Cabin in Bayou Nwa for the same reason but tend to enjoy less gators and less water.
