I also did not go find the treasure when I first looted the map and several missions later there is no option to loot the hole in the tree at all.

Was going for 100% completion and need this for the lending a hand achievement. Hoping for a solution soon.

Also having this problem, have you found a solution?

In the mean time I'm just gonna focus on other things and hope it eventually it gets patched.

Wonder if this is where that clearing cache would work?

I'm one that never had an issue finding the treasure.  I got the map, don't think i killed Chick, i might have let him live, been too long ago to remember.  Looked at the map, found the tree and looted it.  Easy 5 minute mission.

So... I feel your pain because I am having the exact same problem. I have the treasure map and no matter what I do, I cannot loot the tree... I have tried anything. Anybody have a solution for this?

I've heard clearing your cache can fix this.  I've done this mission twice after restoring a previous save, had no issues with it.  I did it in all in chapter 2 though, so maybe that has something to do with it?

To clear the game cache on xbox

  1. exit the game using the home button
    1. Hit the home button
    2. move down to RDR2
    3. hit the start button (right button of the start/select buttons)
    4. move down to exit and hit A
  2. Shut down the console by holding the power button in,  Wait 30 seconds and power on the console.

PS4

  1. Exit the game (if it's running)
  2. Start the game
  3. After the initial RDR2 splash page (when the screen goes black) hold down the R1/L1 buttons until the brightness and screen size adjustment options appear.

Thank you so much! I'm going to try this as soon as I go home from work... And I hope it does because I am LONG past Chapter 2 lololol

I'm playing as John in Epilogue part 2 right now lmao

So unfortunately that didn't work. Unless I didn't clear my cache correctly? I am on a PS4 Pro, and when I've attempted to clear it, I was prompted to fix my brightness, but I did notice that auto-save was back on, which I had turned off...

Nonetheless, I went back to the tree, and no treasure. I really hope Rockstar can fix this!!

Well it’s 2025 and I still can’t get get Chick’s treasure from the dang tree hole. I guess a fix never came out? 🤷‍♂️ I also tried the Jack Hall Gang 2 treasure as well and no bueno. Searched all around the rock but nothing. I guess none of the treasures load for me. I’m wondering if they just don’t work while in the epilogue as John? Idk 🤷‍♂️
