Epilogue 2 is the final Red Dead Redemption 2 story chapter. It features the final few missions which provide not only closure to the story of the Van der Linde gang and its fall from grace, but also some additional information on the events that shortly precede the beginning of the original Red Dead Redemption.
Like all previous story mode chapters, all missions in Epilogue 2 come with a Gold Medal, which is obtained by meeting certain requirements during each mission. These requirements are hidden during the first playthrough of a mission, so you must first complete it before being able to learn more about them.
Gold Medals must not necessarily be obtained during the first playthrough of each mission. Through the Progress menu, it's possible to play through each and every one of them again as many times as you like, only that it will be a little more difficult to get Gold Medals this way, as you are forced to play through any mission with a generic loadout and no tonics. For this reason, it's always better to make a manual save before each story mission, play through it to learn more about the Gold Medal requirements and then load the save to play through the mission again with all the obtained weapons and tonics.
Bare Knuckles Friendships
Bare Knuckles Friendships is the first story mission in Epilogue 2 and the 93rd story mission in the Red Dead Redemption 2 story mode. It's unlocked after completing the Gainful Employment and Home of the Gentry? missions in Epilogue 1. To start the mission, talk with Uncle at the Beecher's Hope ranch in West Elizabeth.
The Van der Linde gang may be finished, but several of its former members are still alive. Uncle has heard that Charles has been recently spotted in Saint Denis, and upon hearing this, John decides to head over to the city to help him. Uncle will also join him.
To get the Gold Medal for this mission, you must find Charles within 1 minute 50 seconds after arriving in Saint Denis. To clear this requirement, you must be extremely quick and make sure to have your horse nearby while having to keep pace with Uncle. As soon as you can control John freely again, mount your horse and head over to the marked location on the map as quickly as possible.
Inside the saloon John will learn about a fighting arena in the northern part of the city. Mount your horse and head over to the marked location as quickly as possible. Shortly after arriving you will run into Charles, who is making money by throwing fights on purpose. He's done with this, however, and is going to win his next one, so bet some money on him if you want to make a quick buck.
Charles winning his last fight doesn't sit well with those behind the scam, however, and they will send some guards after Charles to make him pay.
To get the Gold Medal for this mission, you must kill all of the Guido Martelli’s men within 10 seconds. This is extremely easy to do: just activate Dead Eye as soon as you get control of John back and shoot all of your enemies down.
Once this is done, Charles will recover his belongings and go with John and Uncle to Beecher's Hope. At this point, the mission is complete.
Home Improvement for Beginners
Home Improvement for Beginners is the second story mission in Epilogue 2 and the 94th story mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 story mode. This mission is unlocked after completing the Bare Knuckles Friendships. To begin the mission, talk with Uncle at the Beecher's Hope ranch in West Elizabeth.
To get the Gold Medal for this mission, you must complete it within 18 seconds. While the time limit sounds extremely strict, things are much easier than what they look like. Skip the cutscene at the beginning where Uncle tells John to take down the shack, hold the left stick down and use the X or A button to take it down. If you're quick enough, you will be done before the 18 seconds have passed.
An Honest Day’s Labors
An Honest Day’s Labors is the third story mission in Epilogue 2 and the 95th story mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 story mode. This mission is unlocked after completing the Bare Knuckle Friendships earlier in the story chapter. To begin the mission, speak with Sadie Adler in Blackwater.
Sadie Adler is still looking for bounties to bring in and she has managed to get more information on one of them. Sadie was going after a man called Shane Finley but another bounty hunter managed to steal him from her, and she needs John's help in recovering the stolen man as well as to strike back at her rival.
As soon as the opening cutscene is over follow Sadie to the marked location on the map, Hennigan's Stead. From here, she will scout the area below to find her rival, Langton, who is actually here and riding hard for Pike's Basin. Follow Sadie until you reach the Basin, where it will become clear that a confrontation may be ahead. Sadie will ask John on how to proceed: choose "Shoot the Gang" straight away, as you have no time to be stealthy if you want to get the Gold Medal for this mission.
To get the Gold Medal you must escape with Shane Finley within 5 minutes after choosing your approach, complete the mission without taking any health item and complete with at least 70% accuracy. There are a lot of enemies in the area, but as you need to be quick, you must stop only when absolutely necessary. Make sure to take care of the snipers on the elevated areas as soon as possible, as they can deal a lot of damage in just a few shots.
Once you have captured Finley, you can take the time to finish off any enemies that you have missed. Reinforcements will also come once you are done with them, so be prepared. Use Dead Eye as much as possible as well as Dead Eye items that don't also restore the health bar and core.
After the reinforcements have been dealt with it's time to leave the canyon, but things won't be any easy, as Langton's men will also make an appearance. Always keep an eye on your radar to avoid getting ambushed and damaged by any of them. You also have to kill all of Langton’s men during the horseback escape to clear the Gold Medal requirement.
Once you have dealt with Langton's men you are very close to completion. Head back to Blackwater, put Finley in the cell and collect the bounty. After the cutscene the mission will be over.
The Tool Box
The Tool Box is the fourth story mission in Epilogue 2 and the 96th story mission in the story mode. The mission is unlocked after completing the An Honest Day’s Labors and Home Improvement for Beginners missions earlier in the story chapter. To begin the mission, you must speak with Albert Cakes in Blackwater.
Now that the shack has been taken down, it's time to start building the actual ranch. Albert Cakes sells pre-fab homes and Charles will help John with collecting the wood and components needed to assemble it. There are skinners in the area where they have to go to, however, and he has hired two men to help them keep the wagons safe.
Once you have collected the materials by heading to the marked location on the map, you will head over to Manzanita Post to get some better tools. Once you obtain these new tool, it's time to head back to Beecher's Hope. Unfortunately, the Skinners are lying in wait for you.
To get the Gold Medal for this mission, you must complete it using sidearms only and without taking any health items. Most Skinners aren't particularly resilient so it shouldn't be too much of a problem to take them down using only sidearms, just make sure to not let them too close, as they can kill you with a single hit while in melee range.
Once the first group has been dealt with, you will have to take care of reinforcements. Get behind the trees and take them down quickly.
After the second wave of Skinners has been killed, some of them will manage to steal the toolbox, while others will take one of the two men that have been hired by Charles, Mr. Wayne. To get the Gold Medal for this mission you must find Mr. Wayne within 2 minutes 15 seconds. Skip the cutscene that plays right after killing the second wave of skinners then rush to the marked area on the map.
In this area, Skinners will be hiding behind the trees and in the vegetation. To get the Gold Medal you must headshot all Skinner Brothers hiding up trees. Use Dead Eye to spot them and be as accurate as possible.
After killing all of the Skinners a new area will be marked on the map. Head over there to find the stolen toolbox and Mr. Wayne, who has sadly been killed. Pick up the tools, head back to the wagons and then proceed toward Beecher's Hope to complete the mission.
A New Jerusalem
A New Jerusalem is the fifth story mission in Epilogue 2 and the 97th story mission in the Red Dead Redemption 2 story mode. The mission is unlocked after completing The Tool Box mission. To start the mission, you must speak with Uncle at Beecher's Hope in West Elizabeth.
To get the Gold Medal for this mission, you must complete it with 3 minutes 35 seconds. The time requirement is strict, but it's easy to clear since the mission is rather short.
Skip the opening cutscene as soon as it begins then start completing the quick time events as they are presented to you. You will have to move the joists into place first and then nail them by pressing the correct button in time with John hitting the nail with his hammer. To get the Gold Medal you must hammer the nails in with 80% accuracy, which shouldn't be too difficult to do.
Eventually, you will be done with these events and a proper ranch at Beecher's Hope will have been built. At this point, the mission will be complete.
A Quick Favor for an Old Friend
A Quick Favor for an Old Friend is the sixth story mission in Epilogue 2 and the 97th story mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 story mode. It's unlocked after completing the A New Jerusalem mission. To start the mission, talk with Uncle at the Beecher's Hope ranch in West Elizabeth.
Now that the ranch is almost operative it's time to make things work. Uncle has surmised from his own experience that the land is only good for grazing, so John will now need a barn for the livestock. Travel to Blackwater to talk with Albert Cakes about a pre-fab barn, but without any money, it will be impossible for them to get it. Sadie Adler will appear with a new job offer for John, who will promptly accept. This time, they will be going after a man known as Ramón Cortez.
To get the Gold Medal for this mission, you must complete it without taking any health items. There are no restrictions on Dead Eye items, so you can use them as much as you like to restore the Dead Eye bar and make clearing this requirement much easier.
After talking with Sadie head over to the marked location on the map. Here, you will check out the barn only to get ambushed by Cortez. Knock him down then place him on Sadie's horse. After this is done, start heading over to Rhodes to hand him to the sheriff and get the bounty.
Things will, unfortunately, become more complicated than usual. The sheriff is alone and he must wait for his men to arrive to take Cortez to Saint Denis. Obviously, Cortez men will arrive first.
To get the Gold Medal for this mission, you must force Cortez’s men to flee from Rhodes within 30 seconds and get four hip fire kills. As soon as the enemies appear outside the sheriff's office activate Dead Eye and shoot them down. Once you are done with them, go to the west and kill the remaining enemies in the streets: you can take advantage of this situation to get the four hip fire kills, but there will be other chances to clear this requirement later during the mission. To get a hip fire kill, you must press the R2 or RT button while aiming without your sidearm equipped.
Once you have killed the enemies on the street you will hear an explosion. Head back to the sheriff's office to see that Cortez has been released from imprisonment. You will have to get him back, which also means that you will be getting some extra money at the end of the mission.
Follow Sadie to Dewberry Creek to find Cortez and more of his men. John will position himself on the roof of a wooden bar while Sadie will approach the wanted man on the ground. Armed with a sniper rifle, you will have to cover her until she can get to Cortez.
To get the Gold Medal you must make 5 headshots while covering Sadie with a long scoped rifle. This requirement is rather easy to clear as you have very good visibility from your position. There are also many more enemies than just five, so you can afford to miss a headshot or two.
After the first enemy has been shot the remaining ones will be put on alert, and there will also be reinforcements coming from the sides of the creek as well as from under the bridge. Continue killing enemies to keep Sadie safe until she calls you down. At this point, you can kill the remaining enemies, so take advantage of this situation if you have yet to get the four fire hip kills.
Continue killing enemies and proceed further down the creek bed until you see Cortez trying to make an escape by boat. Equip your sniper rifle and aim at him to make him change his mind. While he may have given up, his goons haven't, and you will have to deal with yet another wave of enemies coming down from the hill in front. Kill all of them as they get in range, put Cortez on Sadie's horse and ride back to Rhodes to collect your bounty. Mission complete.
