Uncle

Meta Information

Uncle is voiced by Spider Madison in Red Dead Redemption.

Uncle is just a nickname. He has no real blood relation to the Marston family.

History

Uncle is an alcoholic and a former thief living with the Marston family in their ranch at Beecher's Hope. He is given shelter and food in exchange for work that he rarely performs. At times, he manages to contribute, but it's not enough to change John Marston's view on him, who continues to see the old man as lazy.

Coming from a life of crime, Uncle see living a normal life with the Marstons as a way to seek redemption from his past.

Events of Red Dead Redemption 2

Uncle

Uncle is set to appear in Red Dead Redemption 2 as a supporting character. He is described as a hanger-on and a good-time guy who is always around when the whiskey is open and never around when there's work to be done.[1] Him being so entertaining is the only reason Dutch van der Linde keeps him around.

Events of Red Dead Redemption

Following Abigail Marston and Jack Marston's abduction by Edgar Ross, John puts Uncle in charge of the family Ranch so that he can seek out and take down Bill Williamson and Dutch van der Linde. The two don't have any contact for the duration of John's mission and only meet again after he manages to get back home with his wife and son. John finds the ranch in a very sorry state, accusing Uncle of being unable to do what he was told.

With the return of John, Abigail and Jack, life at the ranch proceeds normally, with Uncle helping with assisting animals and blacksmithing. This life, however, doesn't last for long, as Edgar Ross and U.S Army soldiers assault the ranch to get kill John once and for all. He is the first one to spot them and he competently assists John in fighting them. Uncle eventually gets wounded in the chest during the fighting and then bleeds to death.

Uncle is buried atop the ridge at Beecher's Hope next to John and Abigail. His epitaph reads "Impossible to forget".

Events of Undead Nightmare

In the Read Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare DLC, Uncle appears for the first time as a zombie. It is unknown how he turned into one, but it likely happened when he was out of the ranch, waiting for a storm to pass. When he returns, he assaults John Marston and Abigail Marston in their beds, forcing John to hit him with a lamp.

After John leaves the room to pick his gun, Uncle chases Abigail outside and manages to bite her, transforming the woman into a zombie. He is then killed by John with a headshot.

Matt Gibbs

Ever since the original Red Dead Redemption was released back in 2010 and swiftly completed by Matt he has been eagerly anticipating another return to the Wild West. In Matt's totally non-biased opinion the story told in the sequel, Red Dead Redemption 2, is one of the best ever (at least as far as games go). And while some story DLC would be great, Matt isn't counting on it! Find him on LinkedIn or Twitter.
