Mostly too cinematic for me, too many plots cut (even from early seasons) to make way for long, long shots. I was complaining about this to my gf from season 1, but alas she watched so I persisted. I can see why it appeals to others but it's just not the style/format I would have gone with for this story. It's difficult as it's essentially a high fantasy with a very dense, lore rich story, so it's difficult to hit both marks in a different medium.
It was already diverging long before it passed the books and for the most part these changes were not entirely satisfying, minor changes like character amalgamations (Donyal Noye & Gren for example) certainly paid off and I had no complaints with. However the early Mance changes, the changes with Robb & Tulisa/Jeyne etc, none seemed to work for the better and in many ways actually takes something away from the original character.
Last season was funny, it was just, funny, I laughed a lot.
On the upside, Winds of Winter Due next year!!! We've got the Ramsey vs Stannis Battle, the Redwine vs Ironborn (& possibly Euron) Battle, the Battle for Astaphor as well as more information on fAegon, The Dornish Master Plan & the Maester plot amongst others. We also finally get to find out (hopefully) how Jon will be resurrected, what Jagen Hagar is upto possibly and quite frankly loads of other stuff. I'm excited as much of this stuff was either cut or is very likely to have different paths to reach conclusions we might already know.
