I've been spending most of my time in showdowns, and I haven't found a way to re-up my ammo without going into freeroam and riding to a post office. This is VERY annoying. Is there a way to re-up without going into freeroam?

I never shoot first, although I must admit, I welcome people who do. Last night I headed over to the Dakota RIver for some salmon farming and saw someone else fishing there. He had his rod out and was obviously defenseless. I simply posted up across the river from him and took my rod out. He waved - gave me a carcass off the back of his horse and we proceeded to whip out the varmint rifles and start shooting the hell out of the spawning salmon. He waved again and started heading to Valentine's butcher. I saw some pinks in Valentine and figured I'd head over there with him in case they were hostile. I gave him the carcass back and told him I'd ride in first and if they were hostile I'd distract them so he could get to the butcher without losing his pelts and carcass. As expected, they attacked me as I approached the butcher. I respawned, killed them both, then hunted them down while he safely sold his items. I make so much $$ in showdowns that losing pelts doesn't bother me much. Neither does the $4 fee for killing your horse. I'm a pretty vindictive SOB. Had someone shoot me a day or so ago, while I was riding into Strawberry. He was on his way out and I thought we'd just politely pass each other. I ended up chasing him across half the map just to kill him and his horse. I've added about 9 PS4 friends since I started playing this game. A lot of people are really cool. But if you shoot first - for whatever reason - be prepared to be hunted down.

You have a point, but, "it is what it is", at least for now. That's just how I deal with these murderous bastards. The way I see it, it's just a game. People want PVE - play story mode, for now, until R* decides if and how they want to address these requests for passive mode - invite/PvE servers, etc.. If you venture into the online servers, there will be people who entertain themselves by harassing others. It always happens when people can hide behind anonymity and a keyboard. I can't see any way to accommodate everyone. If they make separate PvE and PvP servers, the PvE would be boring and the PvP would be nothing but gangs of griefers. I think getting rid of auto lock on targeting would slow down a number of griefers. I'm betting that they simply aren't good enough to PvP without it, and they certainly wouldn't be able to insta-kill you over and over again. That could affect weapon balancing in other ways, making the shotty, and knife way OP.

It can be frustrating when you are trying to accomplish something specific. Overall, it's not that bad. There is no penalty for getting blasted by another player (unless you have pelts on your horse). The only thing I find irritating is the "Lock On" aiming. I mean, aim assist is fine since most people are using a controller, as opposed to keyboard and mouse. But locking on? That's chicken sh*t and getting rid of it would fix a lot of these one shot kills by unskilled players. Aim, flick, fire?? Too easy. The best way I deal with the griefers is to embarrass them - kill them until they parley or leave the area. I had an idiot kill me last night as I was pulling up to the butcher in Valentine. Turned out there were 2 of them. I killed them both over and over while announcing their name over voice chat for all to hear, with every kill . If they rode back at me on their horse, I'd kill the horse too, and make a point to announce that as well (laughing at them the whole time). After about 10 or 15 minutes of this rather enjoyable play, a posse of 3 rode in and started killing them before I had a chance. It didn't take very long before they had enough embarrassment and left the server. I waved at the posse, thanked them over voice chat, then proceeded about my business. Later, I was taking out gang hideouts by myself in Tumbleweed and had a griefer ride up and shoot me as I was trying to L2 the gang leader. I saw him riding up on the map, but figured he was just checking things out - maybe wave. Nope! He killed me. No biggie - I had nothing to lose. He was a better PvP player than the other 2 idiots, but I still out killed him at least 3 to 1. Seems to me that these types get satisfaction from irritating people. Like any bully - when you show them that you are not easy prey, they will look elsewhere. There have been a few times I've been up against great PvP players who are into griefing in groups, I'll just respawn into a new server when that happens. Being solo and taking on multiple players who are really good isn't my idea of a good time. Usually, these better players are in Showdown Matches where they earn gold, exp, and $$ - and not out griefing people for no reward.
