PVPNOOB

I think I either need to accept this is one game I will forever suck at PVP in or I am just always so unlucky. First and foremost please be assured I have learned and will be forever greatful for the tips and advice and Information etc you have already given me, this is where I currently stand... Do you think it is wise to just quit PVP entirely because of all the idiots using Cronus etc? I love this game so much it is honestly my favourite but the PVP along with a lot of the people ruin it and I’ve had enough. I can’t see the point anymore in even trying and building up skill after discovering idiots are using Cronus and not only are they using Cronus, somehow in their fried brain they think they can tell me I am trash and useless etc?! What is wrong with people in this world? Someone please tell me, it just seems some people are so fked in their head that they somehow don’t think it’s wrong to deliberately abuse innocent people by calling them “trash” “noob” etc etc, I will never understand people. Ok I am definitely not a pro and this is why I do want to get better, because of how much I love this game I am so willing to give my dedication and I want to in the end walk away knowing I have learned to be successful in PVP. I’m a bit tired and rambling but I hope I make sense, please bear with me. Do you always have to paint with Paint It Black since the headshot mechanics changed in an update a very long time ago (where your reticle doesn’t exactly stay glued to the opponents head 100% and thus missing shots) so do you recommend to always paint? I can’t seem to get kills just by using dead eye to remove the bloom and shooting their head, I’ve tried so many times. Also so many times I seem to shoot players in their heads not once, not twice, not 3 etc but honestly they just don’t die with multiple headshots but this begs the question again should I always be painting before firing? Or can lag do this? Like if I’m seeing myself shooting their heads am I still actually not due to lag? I can’t get my head around that either. Do any of you recommend Slow&Steady to counter headshots? What is it like instead of paint it black when going for headshots? Sorry I know it must appear strange as to why I haven’t tried it myself I am just fed up at the moment and know this is the best place to ask for all the information. Should I become a carcano player instead if these damn players survive so many headshots and trust me I check and these players are not even using Never Without One, I can’t work it out. I want to enjoy the PVP because it is part of the game but then again you don’t really earn a lot from it now do you? I currently just run bounties and go collecting at the same time for my Gold,XP & Cash. But because of how dedicated I am with this game I sort of want to come away knowing I did somewhat well. But with the Cronus infestation is there even any point building up skill? You will never know who and when you encounter someone if they’re just going to use Cronus etc so all the time a legitimate player builds up their real skill will just have it ruined by these fkin scumbags. Alright sorry for that being so long but I will be so happy and greatful for any feedback etc! PS: Just need to clarify on whether I always need to paint before firing (I’m sure I hit them in the head multiple times but maybe I am not due to the update a long time ago (I think it was 1.09 where they made that change to your reticle not staying 100% glued to your opponents head (but it does with NPCs) so maybe I just need to actually paint before wasting shots that are missing. How good is Slow&Steady to pull off headshots? It seems some players just don’t even try and they always kill me in one headshot and it just does not feel right at all, I can’t work out how they do it and so fast.

Hey Good Afternoon to all, I am just wondering if any of you guys and girls are having problems finding legendary animals in free roam? I have heard a few rumours going around, one being that if you are Rank 15 or higher Naturalist then legendaries will not spawn due to a current bug and the other being that they only spawn in solo lobbies. Well I can honestly confirm that I am Rank 12 Naturalist, I have spent 2 whole days in a solo lobby and I have not seen one legendary animal at all. I have also made sure that it has been raining/stormy and that I am at the correct spawn locations for this weeks new alligators but honestly, even in a solo lobby and not a Rank 15 I have not seen one in 2 days. The question is, do you think they are in fact bugged at the moment or just super rare? I mean 2 days of waiting for them to spawn doesn’t seem right even if they are super rare. I was also really hoping we would get all legendary animals added to Harriets missions, but with the 2 new alligators for this weeks event, they are definitely not available from Harriet. Do you think we will be able to launch them from Harriet in the future like once they are all done with the weekly dripfeed? Although it doesn’t look promising because this weeks 2 released animals have not been added to her missions.

I will try to upload some clips I had against my friend today, I hope they upload and the quality is good enough for you to watch, they show my exact problem with not being able to get headshots, you should be able to see I shoot my friend like 3 times in the head at one point before they die, my friend only uses Never Without One which would explain being able to survive one headshot and definitely not using Tonics, I understand I was not using PIB here but do you see what I mean with players taking multiple headshots? Thank You once again for your advice, I honestly give up I just can’t get headshots honestly. Unless players do not die from one shot no more? They are 100% not using Slow & Steady or Never Without One, I check their cards. I use paint it black and if I don’t use paint it black I very precisely wait for my bloom to go and make sure I shoot straight into their head, but they just do not die. Going back to how the reticle movement is different on players compared to NPCs, could I be doing something wrong here? I don’t think I am tho but I obviously am, just not doing something right but I clearly see myself shooting them in the head. I appreciate all your help trust me, I just don’t know what else to try now, I feel stupid and it is just weird why my headshots are not killing players, and I do honestly check to see if they’re using cards.

Thanks so much for your advice here James, right I will definitely change my reticle size, it does make sense now you mention how the auto aim moves off their head, am I correct now that I therefore must actually paint their head and not just be able to get headshots from only going into dead eye? I just wonder because some people say Paint It Black cancels out all bloom but it doesn’t work that way for me, so do I actually have to paint their head first? I am on PlayStation 4 I will probably sound so stupid here but I’ll be honest, I made a new account so the only gun I have at the moment is the carbine repeater, could this be my problem? I know it is a starter weapon but that also confuses me too as in the weapon stats menu the carbine has the same as the popular Lancaster which is supposed to be superior? But the damage stats are the same You have definitely given me hope, I will try out your advice and I appreciate it so much, I understand Cronus Mods have made their way on to consoles now so you can never be sure if you are up against a cheater, but for how much I love this masterpiece game I would like to be somewhat decent at PVP in the future etc.

Sorry to ask again, I haven’t been on Red Dead in a while, I just need to ask the pros here something which is again bugging me. I cannot for the life of me get headshots on players, NPCs I have no problem, I use Paint It Black, I am hitting the players head 100% but they do not die, what is it I am doing wrong guys? The only thing I seem to have noticed is my reticle seems to sway and move off their head when locked on and I do have my Dead Eye core at 100% aswell as a 100% clean weapon, but even with Paint It Black the players I shoot do not die. Has there been a change to mechanics or something? I honestly feel stupid and I honestly don’t know what I am doing wrong to be honest because I am definitely hitting them in the head, but I am clearly doing something wrong. Again I will be extremely appreciative for any advice, tips, comments, anything.

Ambarino snowy mountains used to be good for me but now I find nothing there, what I can say is now everytime I have been in Big Valley there have been loads, give Big Valley a try, but yeah this damn bug where the camp won't spawn has basically made me give up with Trader

So after trying to find a way to rank up, I found it - collecter, all I can say is OMG, and heaps or cash too, the only downfall is no gold. My question is, what keeps you guys grinding and or playing? Please don't get me wrong but do you ever feel like you are grinding for like nothing and not really seeing the end game? It kind of feels like I am not playing a game these days and am working a job lol. I will soon have every single ability card maxed out, then I can have all weapons, get all the pamphlets. I find myself asking and having this negativity that one day all this money I earn in the game will forever sit there (when the game reaches its end life span for example like how nobody plays GTA4 Online to this date) I see the future and looking back and thinking "why did I bother earning all that money and for what?" Honestlt don't mean to sound negative but just wondering if any of you get these thoughts? OCD is definitely at play, it is just facts and sad that one day (a very long time from now atleast) nobody will play anymore, for example if a Red Dead 3 comes out, then all that grinding was for? Sorry I can be weird I just wonder if anyone else sees what I think lol Still have not bothered trying to get better at showdowns, I have an excuse not to play them now as collector smashes them in terms of money and XP now?

Sorry to bump this thread and be annoying but honestly I cannot for the life of me get good at PVP. I cannot understand how players are getting headshots with what seems with no effort at all. I have tried Paint It Black as I heard it is the new meta, and all you have to do is aim to their head, activate dead eye and Paint It Black cancels all bloom? Still, it does not work for me. Players I am shooting straight in the head do not die, I check their abilities, no slow and steady or never without one, I promise you I am straight up hitting them in the head, with Paint It Black and they survive,most of these players are around my rank so not high and abusing Tonics etc. I have tried watching youtubers headshot tutorials and their live streams and they are doing exactlt the same as me, yet they pick them off in one shot every single time. Sorry again but do you have ANY suggestions what I could be doing wrong and what to try, who to watch on YouTube or anything? I am 100% hitting them straight in the head, I don't feel I can be any more accurate, but they survive. I just want to be a bit more defensive against getting my head blown off so easily by them and it doesn't even look like they try, my headshots do not work Thank You I promise any advice (I know you have gave me a ton already) is much appreciated.

Good Evening all, I am just wondering if any of you are having a problem of only being awarded gold and nothing else on some bounties? I have also checked I am choosing the $$$ ones and still so many times I am only getting 0.32 gold, no XP or cash. Another thing is me and my friend get entirely different payouts, today my friend got $70 for the legendary bounty and I got $39, I also own the Outlaw Pass and was Posse Leader, my friend does not own the Outlaw Pass. Also, is it just me but it seems to take forever to Rank Up, I can grind flat out for like 12 hours and barely make 2 Ranks, which begs the question, how on earth are there Rank 400s? I try so hard and put so much effort in with missions but I do not seem to be making as much progress as I would like to at all, I am wondering if there is anything else I can do to get my Rank up. As always, a massive thanks to any advice.

Very excellent information from everyone! Thanks a ton I am glad I now know why players are not getting killed - Tonics and cheats. To be completely honest, the one major thing I want sorted is headshots, I personally think they are a major problem for less experienced players like me, constantly being headshotted over and over by a player that you can't see on your radar just seriously annoys me, can't seem to defend in any way, unless of course we down tonics and Minty Big Game, but honestly I at the moment don't have the energy or will to try to that extreme level just to win matches. But yeah seriously thank you all, I now finally know the power of those tonics. Do you think they will ever remove Slippery B? That is one insane unfair ability, honestly lol, saw some guy on YouTube running around in matches with it on constantly, could not believe what I was seeing. So basically I am thinking to stay out of PVP until it gets a major rebalance of a lot of things, the headshots annoy me the most. And what is the point even trying against someone using Level 3 Health Tonics? I don't think Rockstar will ever change the PVP that much tho, maybe in a few years as GTA Online had very similar problems and has only very recently had some "cheating" tactics reworked. Maybe it is best to stick to hunting and missions for now, if they rework all these problems with PVP I'll play again for sure. But Thank You, I understand the power of Tonics now, how do you and other people even find out all this stuff?

I honestly give up. I have tried everything. Used Never Without One and still get headshotted, I shoot my enemy clean in the head and he takes no damage and he also did not have Slow & Steady or Never Without One, this just does not make sense? Maybe it is the auto aim that is the problem, maybe it is just whoever locks on to you first, I really do not know now. I am shooting players clean in the head and even if they do not have Never Without One they do not die. Also I seriously regret buying this Lancaster, damn it feels weak as hell. What am I doing wrong guys? Honestly I appreciate all your advice here and I promise I do read and try everything, something just is not right with this game for me.

Tried another day of PVP, honestly I think i am going to give up, I am just getting killed in the weirdest most unfair ways possible. I just cannot work out why I can’t get any success at all, I even tried the Level 3 Tonic today and still get one shotted. This guy on YouTube 2 shots with the Lancaster and I am still not even killing with like 10 shots With it. I don’t know if lag is at play here or what else to even try, my Lancaster feels as weak as a Carbine Repeater yet the Lancaster is said to be the best by so many people. Sorry guys but honestly I try so hard and bang my head is blown off so easily, I shoot a Rank 10 with no abilities 4 times with a Double Barrel Shotgun and he did not die

Absolutely excellent advice here buddy, thank you! You have got me thinking big time regarding the tonics now, I think that has to be what players are using, it makes sense now. I haven’t ever read up on tonics properly but does it actually make you not take damage from your health? That would make sense, like they are in god mode. I have made it to 48 just by doing stranger missions and hunting to let the timer go down for the most amount of cash and XP, it’s just I am getting so burned out with Stranger missions I thought I would try PVP. To be honest tho the stress it causes has got to stop, it does stress me out not putting them down with so many shots. My health and stamina are 10/10, Dead Eye is 9/10, got Lancaster and Double Barrel Shotgun fully upgraded. I think I will possibly try Slow & Steady, just don’t want to “waste” money but anything to help me succeed more in PVP lol. Maybe another thing is lag but you have got me thinking big time about Health Tonics now. Thanks a lot honestly If all else fails I’ll stick with Stranger missions and Hunting, at least that is relaxing and not so rage inducing like PVP is (for me haha)

Good Evening all, I please want to ask if anyone has any advice and opinions at all regarding PVP, the best weapons and abilities and ammo etc. I have tried researching so much via youtube, there is this guy who 2 shots or even 1 body shot kills his enemies with the Lancaster, however I am not even putting my enemies down with like 8 hits from it? I also heard Slow & Steady has been nerfed so I am currently using Peak Condition, Strange Medicine, Winning Streak and Paint it Black. I am trying so hard to just make a tiny bit of progress but honestly I am getting wrecked and I just cannot seem to pull off any kills at all. I also own the Double Barrel Shotgun But still, my enemy dives and one shots me with a Lancaster but honestly, even if I shoot my enemy in the head FIVE times they do not go down?! I make sure my weapons are cleaned too. I just can’t work out why the Lancaster is supposed to be the best but honestly to me it feels as weak as the Carbine Repeater. Is it best to stay mobile on maps or keep running around? Sorry for all the questions but honestly any advice anyone can give me at all I will appreciate so much and be so greatful. I just want to be able to do a tiny bit better than what I am doing currently, it just seems no matter how many shots I put through my enemies they don’t take any damage, I check their abilities and they are the same as mine, except a few using London’s Patience.
