Issues with using L2 button on PS4

Hi guys, 

I am hoping someone will be able to help me here. 

So I bought the game last night, installed and started the game without issue. I was playing through the very start (going to the cabin, being jumped by O'Driscoll guy etc.) When it comes to interrogating the O'Driscoll gang member I am told to focus on him by pressing L2. I can see that my button press is registering as the 'L2' shown at the bottom right of the screen lights up however I am not then given the option to beat him/interogate him. As a result I am essentially stuck in the barn.

 

L2 works when I aim during the first shootout but not when trying to focus so I know its not the controller. I have tried resetting my PS4, turning the controller off and on, even un-inststalling the game and installing it again. Still the issue remains.

 

Oddly enough, I used shareplay to let my mate see what was happening. I allowed him to take control through his system and he was able to use L2 to focus on the gang member and then interogate him as normal.

Has anyone had this issue? Any ideas on how to resolve it?

I just started playing last night myself and had the same issue on the PS4. The quick fix for me was that my screen was too wide. Go into your settings, and try making the screen a little smaller. I realize you usually do that when you first boot up your new PS4, but some games are different I find. Sometimes I have to adjust for different games. Hope this works for you hopefully it will.

Guys I am happy to tell you the solution, but i am just as sad about the nature of the solution. I had this same issue but accidently had another problem that led me to solving the whole issue, my controller's *X*button was worn due to excessive use by the previous owner of what now is my Ps4. I couldn't play so many parts of the game because of that, so I had to go get me a new controller *for the record my ps4 is the classic fat*, so i bought what they call the new generation controller the V2 as they claim, and guess what?? the L2 problem ceased to exist, it just functions as if i am on a new console, sad huh....guess they optimized the game for ps4 pro and its controller, since then i didn't have any problem with the game. You can also change the controller settings go to third person controls change it from standard to alternative it will switch L2 to L1 and it worked for me with old controller, unfortunately my problem was a bit bigger than that. best wishes cowboys.

Hi so if anyone's stuck with this problem in 2022 I found that it has been most likely a generation transition issue with controllers, so you if you push your L2 down very hard it'll Come up, I recommend just switching them to L1 but you can keep it the same. It's most likely got something to do with updates with the ps5 and haptic triggers. Hope this helped
