Gunslinger Weapon

I'll put in a spoiler tag as it's a side mission, regarding one of the Gunslinger weapons.

I duelled and killed Billy Midnight, got the photograph but just as I was about to pick his weapon up, I fell off the train.  Is there a way to get the weapon in the game any other way?  Do I need it for completion?

No idea if you need it for completion or if you can get it somewhere else (probably not), but their guns aren't that great. I only have the first 3 but will let you know once the mission continues.

If you don't pick up the gun then and there it is gone for good, there is no way to obtain it anywhere/any time else.  Sorry.

It is not needed, afaik, for the completion of the mission/quest (only photos).
