can't find bear trail using dead eye xbox one

Hi guys, I think I've encountered an error, I'm playing on my xbox one and am doing the first bear hunting mission with Hosea, I'm up to the part where you have to find the bears trail using dead eye, I've found the paw marks at the creek but I can't progress any further, whenever I use dead eye to see the track the bear went it doesn't show me anything at all. This is how it's supposed to happen

but it's not working for me, I've tried resetting my xbox and trying again but it's still the same. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, please help.

In the story, did you choose to split up?

If you left bait, you need to wait for the bear to show up. If you split up, Horsea will find the bear first and you need to find the bear and scare it before it kills Horsea.

Based on what you said, I am guessing you stuck with Hosea. It shouldn't be very hard to find the trails. If you are having trouble, try saving the game outside of the mission and going back, see if that fixes it.
