aim assist not working on xbox series x

I bought RDR2 (main story + online) yesterday on my XBOX series X. Aim assist was working as expected yesterday but from today onwards it has disappeared even though in the controls it's on.

 

I experienced aim assist issue for the first time when I started with the Exit Pursued by a Bruised Ego mission.

I also had an old manual save just before the The Aftermath of Genesis mission so I reloaded it because aim assist was working during that mission. It turns out on my reload aim assist is not there anymore.

I'm really loving the game and don't wanna stop just because of this bug. I'm a casual gamer so it'll be practically impossible for me to play without the aim assist. If anyone else has come across such issues please share how you were able to fix it.

Also, I faced another bug in the game where I was not able to mount the horse. It got it fixed by walking all the way back to the camp and starting the Exit Pursued by a Bruised Ego
mission. Hosea took me to a new stable in Valentine and I was able to mount the new horse.

Have you been able to fire? If you can't fire the gun you're using, try pressing the button to automatically fire. Then your aim assist should be working. you can also go into the settings and make sure it hasn't been turned off for whatever reason. You can also see if you get the aim assist with your bow. If all of that checks out, you may have to start all over with a new game file. You're not going to be able to do much without a gun in this game.
