Snowy Egret

Snowy Egrets also like swamplands like the other egrets, so they can be found easily in Bayou Nwa and near other medium-sized bodies of water in Lemoyne. They are carnivores, so only Predator Baits can make one appear. Being medium-sized birds, the Varmint Rifle armed with 0.22 shots is the only weapon capable of getting a perfect kill on them. They drop plumes and game meat when killed, which is used in crafting and cooking.

Sonoran Desert Toad

The Sonoran Desert Toad is among the animals you will be able to study and skin last, as it can only be found in New Austin, which is explorable only during the Epilogue. These toads can be found easily in the southern part of the region, near the Rio Bravo river. They are omnivores, so use whichever type of bait you prefer to make one appear. The bow armed with small game arrows will allow you to kill the Sonoran Desert Toad without damaging its body too much. They yield a carcass and herptile meat, which can be sold to traders and used in cooking.

Sonoran Pronghorn Buck

The Sonoran Pronghorn Buck is among the animals you will be able to study and skin only after completing the game, as it only appears in the open deserts in New Austin, which can only be explored during the Epilogue. It's a herbivore, so use a Herbivore or Potent Herbivore bait to make one appear. Like other bucks, the Sonoran Pronghorn Buck can be perfectly killed with the bow armed with regular arrows as well as any repeater. Perfect pronghorn fur can be used to craft a special hat, while mature venison meat can be used in cooking or eaten as is to restore cores.

Sonoran Pronghorn Doe

The Sonoran Pronghorn Doe is also native to the deserts in New Austin and doesn't appear in any other region of the map. It's a herbivore, so only Herbivore baits will make one appear. A perfect kill can be scored by using the bow armed with regular arrows or any repeater armed with regular ammo. Perfect pronghorn fur can be used to craft a special hat, while mature venison meat can be used in cooking.

Southern Copperhead Snake

Like the other snakes in the game, Southern Copperhead Snakes prefer wetlands, so they appear in the swamps near Saint Denis and in the area to the south of the train track connecting the city with Rhodes. They are carnivores, so use a Predator bait to make one appear. Snakes are small and relatively weak animals, so use the bow armed with small game arrows to score a perfect kill. They yield perfect snake skin, which can be used to craft a special saddle and stringy game meat.

Standard Donkey

The Standard Donkey cannot be found in the wild, as it only appears in ranches and farms all over the map. The donkey is a herbivore, so only a Herbivore or Potent Herbivore Bait can make one appear.

Striped Skunk

The Striped Skunk is an extremely common animal that can be found near Rhodes, Braithewaite Manor, Caliga Hall, the western side of New Hanover, Annessburg and its surroundings and in areas to the west of Blackwater. Skunks are omnivorous, so use whichever type of bait you prefer to make one appears. Skunks are small rodents, so use the Varmint Rifle armed with 0.22 shots to score a perfect kill. A perfect skunk pelt can be used to craft boots, while stringy meat can be used in cooking.

Sunglow Boa Snake

The Sunglow Boa Snake is yet another snake that's native to Guarma. It is missable, so it's not needed for the Zoologist and Skin Deep trophies. Like the other snakes native to Guarma, it can be found in the area right on the "E" in Arroyo De La Vibora on the map. Use a Predator bait to make one appear. Like all other snakes, the Sunglow Boa Snake can be killed without damaging it too much with the bow armed with small game arrows. It yields its skin and stringy meat, which can be used in crafting and cooking.

Timber Rattlesnake

Timber Rattlesnake can be found in Lemoyne and New Hanover, but it appears more often in the swamp areas right outside Saint Denis and in the areas to the south of the train track connecting Saint Denis with Rhodes. Snakes are carnivores, so only the Predator and Potent Predator bait can make one appear. To kill a snake without damaging its body too much, you must use the bow armed with small game arrows. Perfect snake skin can be used to craft a saddle at any trapper, while the stringy meat can be used to cook meals.

Timber Wolf

The Timber Wolf is an extremely rare animal that can only be found in the Cumberland Forest area, which is to the north of the "H" in Hanover on the map. They appear more often at night. Wolves are carnivores, so use a Predator bait to make one appear. The bow armed with regular arrows is the weapon to use to score a perfect kill. They yield a pelt, which can be used in crafting, as well as the heart and big game meat.

Tricolored Heron

Tricolored Herons also prefer wetlands like the Great Blue Herons, so they can be found only in Lemoyne. A very good hunting spot is to the south of Caligal Hall, very near the train track connecting Rhodes with Saint Denis. These herons are carnivores, so use a Predator bait to make one appear. The Varmint Rifle armed with 0.22 shots is the only weapon capable of scoring a perfect kill on herons, due to their size. They drop feathers and gamey bird meat once killed, which can be used for crafting and cooking.

Virginia Opossum

The Virginia Opossum is not particularly common, but it can be found in a variety of areas, like in an area located between the "R" and "I" in Ambarino, directly to the north of Annesburg, in an area on the "W" in West Elizabeth on the map, near the northern shore of Flat Iron Lake and in the southern part of New Austin. As omnivores, they will be attracted by either type of bait. As they are very small rodents, the Varmint Rifle armed with 0.22 shots is the only weapon capable of scoring a perfect kill. Perfect Opossum Fur is used to craft a special gat, while stringy meat is used in cooking.

Western Bull Moose

The Western Bull Moose isn't a particularly common animal, as it appears only select areas like in an area found between the "I" and "N" in Ambarino, in the northeastern corner of the game and to the west of Blackwater. Moose are omnivorous, so you can use either bait type to make one appear. Moose are very resilient animals, so you must use a bow armed with improved arrows or a scoped rifle to score a perfect kill. The perfect bull hide is used to craft a pair of Bull Boots, while mature venison meat is used in cooking.

Western Chipmunk

The Western Chipmunk is a very small rodent that can be found in several different forested areas. The best hunting spots are in the forested areas to the west of Annesburg, to the south of Rhodes and right on the "E" and "M" in Lemoyne on the map. The Western Chipmunk is an omnivore, so you can use whichever type of bait you prefer. Being a very small animal, the only way to get a perfect kill on it is using the bow armed with small game arrows. It yields a carcass and stringy meat once killed: the first can only be sold to butchers for money, while the stringy meat can be used in cooking.

Western Gray Squirrel

The Western Gray Squirrel appears in the same areas the American Red Squirrel does, so search for it in forested areas in West Elizabeth and New Hanover. The big forested area to the north of Annesburg is a very good hunting spot. Squirrels are omnivorous, so use either a Predator or Herbivore bait to make one appear. Squirrels can be killed without damaging the carcass too much only with the bow armed with small game arrows. Perfect squirrels pelt can be used to craft a hat as well as other items, while stringy meat can be used in cooking. The carcass can be sold to traders.

Western Moose

The Western Moose is even rarer than the Western Bull Moose, as it only can be found in forested areas in West Elizabeth, New Hanover and Ambarino. A good hunting spot is located right to the north of the "M" in Ambarino on the map. Moose are omnivorous, so each whichever bait you prefer to make one appear. Like the Bull Moose, Western Moose are very strong, so the only weapons that can score a perfect kill on them are scoped rifles. If you want to get closer to them, the bow armed with improved arrows is the weapon to use. The perfect bull hide can be used to craft a pair of Bull Boots at any trapper, while mature venison meat is used in cooking.

Western Raven

The Western Raven isn't among the most common birds in red Dead Redemption 2, but it's not too difficult to find. It appears mostly in the western areas of the map, and spawns often in areas directly to the west of Blackwater in West Elizabeth. As an omnivore, the Western Raven is attracted by both types of bait. Western Ravens are not resilient at all, so you must use the bow armed with small game arrows to get a perfect kill on them. They yield raven feathers, which can be used in crafting, and gamey bird meat, which can be used in cooking.

Western Tanager Songbird

The Western Tanager Songbird appears in the same areas as the Scarlet Tanager Songbird - forested areas in Lemoyne, New Hanover, and West Elizabeth as well as near Braithwaite Manor. Songbirds are omnivorous, so both the Predator and Herbivore bait are good to make one appear. The bow armed with small game arrows is the only weapon capable of getting a perfect kill on them. They leave feathers and gamey bird meat behind, which are used in crafting and cooking.

Western Toad

The Western Toad is the most common toad species in the game, and it can be found easily in the swamps in Lemoyne. A good hunting spot is near Lagras Lake, to the north of Saint Denis. Toads are carnivores, so only a Predator or Potent Predator bait will make one appear. The bow armed with small game arrows is the only weapon capable of scoring a perfect kill. They leave their carcass behind as well as herptile meat, which can be sold to traders and used in cooking respectively.

Western Turkey Vulture

The Western Turkey Vulture can be found all over New Austin as well as West Elizabeth. If you don't want to wait for the story to end to get to New Austin, you can hunt for them near Strawberry and Owanjilla lake, which is located to the west of the town. Vultures are carnivores, so use a Predator bait to make one appear. The Varmint Rifle armed with 0.22 shots is the weapon to use to score a perfect kill. Vulture feathers can be used to craft hat accessories as well as other items, while gamey bird meat can be used in cooking.

Whitetail Buck

The Whitetail Buck is among the most common animals in Red Dead Redemption 2, as it spawns in huge areas found to the north of New Hanover, the open plains in Lemoyne and in the areas near the road going from the Van Horn Trading Post to Annesburg in the eastern part of the map. Whitetail Bucks are herbivores, so you need a Herbivore Bait to lure them out. The bow armed with regular or poison arrow is more than enough to get a perfect kill on them. If you want to be absolutely sure of getting a perfect kill, you can also use any scoped rifle. Skinning them yields their pelt, antlers and mature venison, which can be used in crafting and cooking.

Whitetail Deer

The Whitetail Deer is another extremely common animal that can be found pretty much everywhere in Lemoyne, New Hanover, Ambarino and the areas surrounding Valentine. It's among the first animals you will encounter at the beginning of Chapter 2, so it's unlikely that you will have to make an effort to find one. They are herbivores, so Herbivore and Potent Herbivore Baits will do the trick. Whitetail Deers are not particularly resilient, so even the bow armed with regular arrows is enough to get a perfect kill on them. As they are easily startled, however, you may want to keep your distance, so a scoped rifle is also a good choice. Deer pelt and mature venison are used for crafting and cooking.
